In theory, an underground Railhead could also be used in place of Dromons because we'd be doing all the fighting underground instead of playing the Cannon vs Wall equation.

It's still not ideal, far from it. I personally would prefer it if we had Dromons (but they're too expensive and we have the wrong kind of King to get them.) But it becomes theoretically doable if we have enough quality troops (Standing Throngs) available.

Runic Level 5 New
Across the Ankor change was afoot. Deep within the heart of Zhufbar, several Runelords and smiths worked tirelessly for years, gradually adding changes and refinements to the torrents at the hold's surface. Fashioning runes of attraction, flow, and acceleration into great cables that snaked their way down into the depths of the deepest mines controlled by the great hold. Deciding that their improvements were complete, the gates were eventually opened once more and the torrents of water came crashing down into the mines…or at least they would once have. Now, captured by the cables, dozens of shafts of water were instead carefully controlled as they were flung at increasingly high speed down into the depths, where, at the cables' conclusion, and guided by trained Dawi operators, tons of water at phenomenally high pressure blasted apart rock and stone, revealing the hidden wealth beneath.

In the lowlands of the Reik, paid for by the emperor to look into the issue, several Runelords erect replacement waystones in a grid encompassing all the corrupted territory of the long-abandoned Reiksfort. These are not the waystones of old in appearance. Being larger, and more imposing than those smaller obelisks, these great stone pillars nonetheless are as capable as any from the golden age, even if they do not have elven enchantments reducing their size and complexity. Of course, that their activation resulting in the somewhat quiescent malignancy of the Reikfort rising up to try and tear them down is not ideal. But such was what the emperor's armies were stationed here for, and within only a few scarce years, the garrison was proven unnecessary anymore as the corruption is brought down to more manageable levels.

Within the audience hall of the High King, a runelord makes an impassioned plea to newly installed Glorin to give him the resources necessary to attempt to reconstruct the ancient Grimizul Gronti of the golden age. Laying out to the Grandmaster of the Everpeaks Runesmith Guild the runes he has, what they do and what they are capable of as well as the sacrifice it will cost for he himself to make one. Eventually, at the conclusion of the discussion, the High King is convinced that it would be possible, for the first time in thousands of years, to restore the great battle golems of the Ankor, even if the price — and not even the material one — would be ruinous to attempt.

In the north, a great collaboration between the Norse Runesmiths and those of the Karaz Ankor is completed, as a one-onehundredth scale of a full Karak Waystone Nexus is complete. Not only this, however, but as it activates, so too do its secondary functions as the runic siphon within the waystone engages, draining even more aetheric energy into the device itself. Watchers, armed with blast shields and runic hammers, stare, waiting for any sign of instability or even chaotic corruption from the sheer amount of concentrated energy being absorbed. Rotating in shifts as the years pass, until after a decade the runesmiths announce that the attempt to meld the two paradigms has been successful and that all future waystones built by the Ankor should take the time and effort to make this addition as well. Then they order the watchers to return to their duties for the next century. One can never be too sure when it comes to energy taken from the north

Though not with a bang, it has gradually become clear that the Runelords of the Ankor, though not knowing all the secrets of the Golden age, could now stand alongside them as equals, with secrets of their own, unmatched by the past glories of their ancestors. Though the runesmiths wonder if they have truly reached the greatest of heights, the answer staring back at them whenever an audience is sought with the High King as Azamar twinkles upon Grungis throne.

The Vantigon thing has me going eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee like a small, over-excited child.

Deep magic! That's the golem stuff! And we JUST voted for golem stuff!

you know with all this golem stuff its funny when pointed out to me that warhammer wins in ethics with golems construction anyway as its golems seem not to be made of people forced to become them like in dragon age when a king just started forcing poor people to become them

Grimazul Gronti provided a +3 martial, which is incredible, but has outrageously ruinous upkeep in that it increases the rate of runic decay. I doubt we'll make one until we've significantly lessened our existing runic decay.

But by the Ancestor Gods do I want one eventually.

Just imagine if we go to Naggaroth and unleash a set of Grimazul Gronti on Malekith, animated by either veterans of the War of Vengeance or, even better, Dwarfs who knew him personally from the time of Snorri Whitebeard.

If you give someone a pick the size of a giant and the strength to explode a small mountainside with one hit from it, you better pick a reliable operator.

so what are your thought on this game plan we reconnect Zhufbar by the underway for that sweet, sweet tech bonus.

and use our new king to conquer the silver pinnacle. when afterwards we check for any opportunities maybe Nagash successfully weakens a few holds enough for us to swipe a few depending on what happens.

We can try to rent dromons from Ulthuan for a turn. It'll cost us arm and a leg, if it's possible at all, but probably less than making a new set.

We're going after Nagash now. He's snowballing and we need to stop him.

I doubt it's much of an option though. From the Timeline Arvanis is actively using those Dromons right now to serve as a deterent against Dark Elf Black Arks rolling up and smashing through all those towers he set up. Malekith is sure to take advantage of any gap in their presence. We'd be asking Arvanis to set back the primary goal of his reign to help us.

I honestly think making a new set would probably be cheaper in the long run than whatever he'd want in exchange.

huh, but he is distracting the skaven and the greenskins. the second he is dealt with they turn there attention onto us.

plus we have experience fighting the undead with Azul, plus those runes we discovered were quite effective against them. I think we have an easier time dealing with him that a skaven offensive.

He isn't really distracting the Skaven. The Skaven are distracting the Skaven by being in the middle of a big civil war.

And Nagash is actively making use of the Waystones as a currency printer. We do not want to see what he does if he gets enough power from them that he decides he has enough to go retake the Black Pyramid.

Nagash took Karak Eight peaks, Then within 4 turns, started attacking Karak Azul, and was a couple of turns from wiping it out. When we blocked him, he took Karak Azgal the next turn, and started attacking Karak Drazh, and is probably a few months from taking it. If we leave him be, he will take Karag Dron, and we'll have him as our neighbor at Karaz-a-Karak.
Every hold with a waystone he takes, he becomes more powerful.

Sadly, do to time constraints and the cost of running and financing needing to be done to launch two whole war turns, we are basically going to be wasting any chance at reclaiming our hold southern haunts against Neffy and the greenskins for the next few reins now after Glorin passes, as we will mostly be dealing with 2 hold conquests, with one of those being Draz yes, but the other one also being Dron, and a attempt at destroying and reconquering another future province from the Chaos Dwarfs because of their push to retake and rebuild from the ground up the karak of Uzkulak, so once that comes and leaves we will be pretty much flat broke until we can spend a few turns not shilling out dozens of gold per turn building a underway tunnel network while also trying to spend a lot of blood and death in order to deal with three different apocalyptic wars that all on their own vastly increase with each upkeep added to each army we make or spend an action on, plus or minus a few other miscellenious items on hand that just mean we have to take a break from hold reconquests for a while. Still means when the time comes it will continue, snagging 2 of the oldest and proudest holds of the Karaz Ankor while smashing in the bedrock foundation of the DZ will be very popular and happy for our people, but that's about it.

As for the Skaven, no just no. Because of them being distracted with their own issues at home, they cannot and do not act as a really dangerous or hazardous threat compared to Nagash because of their literal continent spanning war between the council and Pestilence, but the moment that ends they will 100% refocus their effort on body-slamming Nagash under a mountain range of rodents in order to kill him again, and this time make sure that he stays dead and buried in the ground by retrieving the fellblade to do its job a second time if needs must to send Nagash back to the grave where he belongs, if we don't get that 1 in 10 million luck and kill the bastard ourselves with Ghal-Maraz and Grimnir's doubladed war axe first.

Oh Shit, you right.

We COULD just do a sweep on the Holds Nagash cleared out.
