Thank Death!Which I honestly already wish I could write, but I have a chapter to go write, and I've made progress.

My guess is that it will be revealed to have been a setup. The actual battle lasted less than 30 seconds. As for the men, the twins didn't actually know these men, they weren't under their command normally. Xav(their master) just kind of said "I have a special mission for you two. Take some of my elite soldiers, and go behead the King of Plague, I've recently gotten information stating she's weakened, make haste so someone else doesn't kill her first."
Their strange lack of capability in the least despite the outward appearance of soldiers, is something that'll actually be covered in the next side story involving the "King of Plague" and "Our Hero."

Agree, of course.Yo, in the event of falling towards the ground at speeds rapidly approaching what we call "mush speed," and being ordered by her inner demon to "just let me use my wings god damn-it!"
Do you uh, think that our MC here would hesitantly agree, or vehemently disagree until she slams head first through the entirety of a four story building?
Just, you know, curious what you think?
Thought so too, but any IC reasoning you can come up with?
We don't want to die. We will do whatever it takes to survive. It is that simple.
And how are we to explain our newfound wings?Yo, in the event of falling towards the ground at speeds rapidly approaching what we call "mush speed," and being ordered by her inner demon to "just let me use my wings god damn-it!"

Fully agreed. It's not something we're happy to do, but if it has to be done, it has to be done. Of course, given her penchant for doing what she wants to screw with us or help us at a whim, I figured she'd just do as she pleased anyway. And how are we to explain our newfound wings?
That will likely complicate matters down the line.
Would slowing our fall to non mush speeds by repeatedly detonating compressed air balls just far enough in front of us that we are unhurt be a viable option?
Reluctant agreement, given if necessary I'd say.
That and getting your host used to recieving aid from you, starting out innocuously, then transitioning towards things that actually serve your interests is a highly effective strategy when possessing someone, from my experience.Fully agreed. I agree, but when it is accepting her help or getting smashed, I know what I will pick, every time. That and getting your host used to recieving aid from you, starting out innocuously, then transitioning towards things that actually serve your interests is a highly effective strategy when possessing someone, from my experience.
... I mean: from what I have heard. Yes.
Probably not the dynamic at play here, but I'll still remain cautious about accepting her aid until we get more information.
There's always the alternative of us not mushing by landing correctly(multiple instances of free-fall survival at terminal velocity exist). By going feet first and with fast enough reflexes(things we have), it's actually possible to shift the momentum of the fall into an(extremely painful) roll, or simply to just break both legs and do some damage to the lower torso(something we can apparently heal from). Given our character is a ditzy, smart person, I have no doubt she's picked up enough trivia and basic understanding of high-school physics to know these things. You all overcomplicate things so damn much...
Yes. Yes Aeternam would want to fly, yes Aeternam would rather avoid being red paste on the ground below. Wouldn't anyone?
Two broken leges, while right in enemy territory? That is a death sentence anyways. There's always the alternative of us not mushing by landing correctly(multiple instances of free-fall survival at terminal velocity exist). With a human constitution and human reflexes, there's reports of people surviving terminal drops with a single broken limb(in snow, admittedly), and being up and about within the year. Two broken leges, while right in enemy territory? That is a death sentence anyways.
Anyways, we are falling head first, so I am thinking that we won't have time to do that stuff. A spilt second yes or no is all we will have, I think. With a human constitution and human reflexes, there's reports of people surviving terminal drops with a single broken limb(in snow, admittedly), and being up and about within the year.
With superhuman constitution and reflexes, a terminal drop is significantly less likely to lead to major injury. In addition, you can't even hit terminal velocity without falling at least 1,500 feet first, and then you can tease the speed by increasing surface area or manipulating clothing to add horizontal velocity to break the fall with.
in such a case: yes but somewhat unhappy about it.Anyways, we are falling head first, so I am thinking that we won't have time to do that stuff. A spilt second yes or no is all we will have, I think.
?
Nope. I say don't risk it, take the deal. I want dat flight. So we're agreeing on "tries to stop fall somehow first, then gives in if absolutely necessary?"
Or some other trick. What we got here?

We have insufficent data to tell which response is most reasonable, damnit!Go for it.
[]Reluctantly agree to "just use the damn wings."
[]Vehemently deny to "just use the damn wings," and just try to survive the fall damage.

Oh ya totally. We have insufficent data to tell which response is most reasonable, damnit!
[X] If it looks like we have time, attempt to slow our fall by repeatedly detonating compressed air balls just far enough in front of us to buffet but not damage us.
-[X] If this proves not to work, to be too slow, SP intensive, or non-viable for any other reason, reluctantly accept the wings.
-[X] If we really don't have time to do anything other than use the wings or splatter, reluctantly accept them.
If we are seen by our allies mysteriously pulling demonic wings out o nowhere, that may very well cause questions to be asked of us that are not easily answered without hiving the game away.
But dying to avoid a risk of death would be completely unreasonable (in the absence of any other considerations, at any rate).
@Sendicard does that seem viable at all?
Ok, so my vote is way too complex for this, based on the situation.Oh ya totally.

The reason I didn't call up a real vote myself on it is because you don't have all the relevant info. This isn't an actual vote, no time, this is a very sudden circumstance that was thrown on you without warning.
Why? A totally hilarious misunderstanding that I'm sure most probably won't appreciate the way I have. Muahahah!
---
Anyway, this is so sudden that there is no vote, which means it's a moment where your character has to react in character.
The problem is that you have no relevant traits that fit this exact situation, and you've yet to give me past data to go by.
Basically speaking, I have no real data as to whether you're willing to give the "Black Icky" any sort of ground in a stressful situation, or whether you'll fight it until you suffer consequence.
Your character is normally pragmatic, so normally I'd say "yes," but inner demons really fuck up the details of shit like that.
