Anyway:
  1. What is the actual point of the whole Death business? It sure as fuck ain't a service to the community. Are we just part of the biggest gang, or what?
  2. Is there actually a kitchen full of undead dinosaurs?
    • Why?
  3. What the fuck was the binding in the training room about? What kind of halfwitted ignoramus builds a form of containment for a powerful enemy asset that only needs someone to enter the room alone to set them free inside their fucking base?
    • No, seriously, what the fuck?
  4. More as it comes to light.
1. Little bit of both. Without Deaths at all, the undead would run rampant and end the world. This means they can't just be killed off to end it.
That being said, that is _all_ being a Death is supposed to entail. Stopping the end. Everything else? Abuse of power. Sometimes for good, sometimes not for good.
2. Yes. Wraith Dinosaurs.
2A. Because they're actually really good chefs. They serve as the staff for visiting dignitaries.
3. That's not what causes the seal to activate. Shockwave set her free, specifically your critical. It was a really stupidly specific set of instructions that logically speaking, no one could ever do on accident. I had actually set it up previously.
And then you guys went and did it, and I was stuck with either changing it, or letting the NG+ level content show up in the 'tutorial'

I still can't tell if I made a bad choice, honestly Cecilia was one of my favorite parts of this Quest. That being said, from a design perspective I should have just changed the fucking parameters and kept her hidden for later. The idea that the narrative and fun is more important than my previous designs and plans didn't come till later.

As for why she was put there? That is, well, might eventually come up in the Reboot.
But basically? Blame Forgotten.
-------------------------------
Oh yes, Fragment's drugging.
Isabella was supposed to interrogate you after the whole training room fiasco. If you had gone with Forgotten, it would have been fine, you would have missed her.
But you didn't, you went to Fragment. So he drugged you to make sure you were gone until Isabella had to leave to go do other work.

He _could_ have just fucking told you to stay, but he didn't trust you would actually listen to him, and he had put far too much investment into you to just let you die.

The secondary effect of the drugging was also to give Cecilia more power. You see, he didn't trust you would be able to get enough power in time to survive the 2x week thing, so he rose your Dark Affinity forcefully so that Cecilia could reinforce you against your will. Because he knew you wouldn't trust her enough to do so.

Once again, he could have just _fucking told you this._
But everyone has flaws, ya'know?

Forgotten is overworked to the point of ridiculousness.
Rose's coping mechanism involves constantly being in a burn-out fueled cycle of pain.
Isabella is a ruthless fucking monster.
Fragment happens to assume everyone is fuckmothering incapable of listening.

Why? How shitty was his life to beat out ours, including us actually killing our best friend?

The MC had some Sharingan shit going on.
Honestly?

He was a decedent from someone on a higher floor. Had a stronger soul in general. It's not completely unheard of for those on the run to find a way to escape into other worlds.

It's how vampires showed up on floor 1, after-all.

It's not the most satisfying reason but, well, that's not how life works, and I tried to keep RDQ more 'realism' than flare.

(I mean yeah, his life was pretty shitty, but, it wasn't raw angst power XD)

Then what was with the Butcher back story?

Speaking of which, why did he shoot us in the head when we met later if he loved us?
Sometimes life really does look like it came straight out of an anime. It wouldn't be realistic for me to exclude crazy shit too.

I'll admit though, at the time I was really just in desperate need of a character I knew @Nightingale could connect to.
-------
He actually was under orders to shoot you if he managed to get you out of the room without permission to leave.

Wasn't from Isabella though, it was from Rose. Think of it like a medic spiting their patient after they recklessly endanger themselves. Not only was she under the impression you knew to be cautious of Butcher from the rules, but in general you had not been given medical leave yet XD

It was at no point actually supposed to hurt you, which is why it was a relatively low powered shot. Trust me, Butcher could have done a ton more damage. Like, for instance, actually hit your soul.

Love tap *giggles*

Okay, so.

For the Reboot I will obviously be creating a new thread. But.. In general, for what I want to work, I want to have a basic idea of what character/kind of character ya'll would want to run. Yeah, the new thread will have options, but... In general, I want to start with a semi-premade character. That way new people who have no idea what they're getting into can't hurt it.

I suppose I could give RDQ voters more weight during Chargen, but... That feels like it would really drive away new readers. Ya'know?

Nonsense, we are the landholding elite and our opinions are more important.

That said, I imagine new voters won't throw things off too badly. People tend to fall in line with... personalities, especially mine!

Trust me semi-premade is the way to go. You can give voters a few options (or not), like starting location or name or something, but not anything major. Otherwise you get birdshit and sniperscythes.

Ayup. That's my thought process. The Sniperscythe really caught me off guard originally but you know what? I kind of wish we had just gone with it. Could have been a lot of fun. Heh.

Still, not a great idea.

XD

Honestly I'm mostly talking about an analysis on what you might want or not want.

I intend to start the next game with the MC still _living._

So it's kind of important I have a basic idea.

It's very obvious you guys didn't think the bonuses Ditz gave you were actually worth the Ditz trait itself. As such, I will try to avoid traits that damage comprehension of reality. I thought the idea was cool, and it was for a QM.

It was not cool for the players.

I also found you guys did not do so hot with how socially inept Aeternam could be. Every-time I threw an obvious curveball into the scene's comprehension do to her missing some huge cue, you guys fell for it without the slightest hesitation.

I spent quite a bit of the beginning scratching my head like *what the fuck?* I mean, it couldn't possibly be that all my voters can't do social.

It wasn't until later that I realized something.

We are trained to accept the Narrative for what it is. Unreliable narration really, really fucks a reader up ya'know? So obviously some points need to be spent into this character's social.

Oooh, you guys want ta run a Deathkiller?

It could have been a fun thing.

If they hadn't tried to choose exactly the wrong stat build for it, that is. -_-

Edit: Death killer could be fun.

Death killer could be fun.
Right? I can already see the fucking flavor text!

"Today is the day I die."

Sends chills up my spine!

Okay, so like, what about gender? Do you guys have an adversity to male characters? No, yes?

I don't care either way, but I figure something like that is _definitely_ more important for you guys to decide instead of leaving it up for a vote. We are dealing in the past so gender rolls are kind of... Basically it'll probably alter the way the beginning narrative flow works quite a bit.
Important for me to know what I'm writing. I want the beginning to attract voters in this one, not toss them away like the intro of this did.

I have a good contender for the name of the next iteration: No Rest for the Wicked.

Particularly fitting for a Death Killer.

Da. This will be easier on everyone if all parties involved know what they are getting into from the start.

We have had quite the object lesson as to why that is necessary. :3

Hey, sniperscythes would have been awesome! Seconding female. I just like seeing girls turn into badasses. Too few of those in media so I need to get my fix where I can.

That would be fucking awesome.

In the future I am totally going to run a Quest where we play an ATM. The angle is just, really badass.
--
So, so far I have 1 male: Nightingale. He, PMed me about it, long discussion, don't worry about it.
2 Female: Dark Ness because she apparently likes what I did with a female character enough to want to see me try again.
Kylina because not enough badass representation despite the strongest Death in the series being Isabella, who is so strong she is said to be birthed from a fucking battle the First had. I hope I get to represent Isabella a bit more in the Reboot honestly, she's a lot of fun when she actually has screentime.

I'm going to admit I have the like, first 3 fucking posts planned out.

Just waiting on basics of what everyone could possibly want or more important, not want XD
We're going to be stuck with this character people! Come on!

That would be fucking awesome.
Then do it. The reboot hasn't started yet, you can change plans

Edit: I will leave the backstory and personality up to you. You know what you want to write better then I. Although, I would like to see more of the world's magic. Yes, we had an explosion mage as our first character, but she was pretty much ignorant of everything, so I am still unsatisfied

Hmm, you have a point. But then, it's not really a reboot so much as a different Quest entirely at that point. Same setting perhaps, but an ATM MC would be... well let's just say the themes would be, different.

Then again, for what's coming, maybe that could be cool?
----
Edit: Trust me, mage or not, you will see more of this world's magic. INT is one of the core stats you will steal from your kills no matter what you do, running a straight, non-multiclassed Death, is impossible.

Opponent: "Death comes for you, bitch!"
MC: "Yeah, because that worked out so well for death last time."
Opponent: "Wut?"

Given that the new one is set hundreds of years in the past, with a different MC and totally different characters, isn't it already? And given how much you have progressed as a writer, won't it have different themes anyways?

Also, as to this quest, who was the 1 Death?
