The Dream that is Dying (Exalted)

[X] Watch from Afar
[X] Mars (Reverence)

Farah would be dead if he hadn't been chosen, and his sister probably would be too. For all that arcane fate is unpleasant, I'd like to think he is self aware enough to know that it's better than the alternative.

[X] Mars (Bitter Gratitude)

My logic on this is that Farah knows that without Mars he'd have died the previous day and his sister would no doubt also be dead, but at the same time? It hurts, having Sabah not recognise him, and he's also being torn away from everything he's known and has lost everything he's accomplished in life. So whilst he is grateful to Mars for her gifting him the power to save himself and his sister, it's tainted by an edge of bitterness and resentment at the price tag that's come with it.

Hey, nobody ever said that feelings have to be simple, or that you can only feel one thing about a person.

As painful as it is to keep Sabah close, Farah fled because he, she at the time (how do these pronouns work in other tenses?), didn't trust anyone else with her well-being.

Out-of-character, how freaking traumatic must this be for Sabah? Lots of violence happened and now she's in a strange place surrounded by different strangers and she has no idea where she is, how she got there, or where she's going. Thanks to the Curse, there isn't a single constant presence she can take comfort in.

@EarthScorpion makes good points, so

[X] Watch from Afar

[X] Mars (Resentment)

I'd like for Farah to be intellectually aware that without Mars' blessing it would have been worse (at least he's alive and Sabah's alive) but be unable to help his feelings of bitterness and loss he projects upon his patron. That's a conflict that can lead places, and Resentment option reflects it better.

Yes, we appreciate not being dead. Doesn't mean we have to be happy about the permanent incognito mode...

Simple and straightforward: a Yozi cult has killed his family and in general they're not the nicest people around, so going out of his way to fuck with them (probably even on occasions when it's not the wisest choice, like when Infernals fight Abyssals because Creation kinda needs to exist for their dreadful masters to take over it) is a rather fitting course of action.
We actually already have that intimacy (or at least, something that amounts to effectively the same thing):

Minor (+2/-1 resolve)

To everyone voting Bitter Gratitude, I'd like to know which one you'd choose if write-in's are disallowed for that choice. Since Resentment is currently only leading by my vote.

Neither; I don't really like either option.

Reverence doesn't really fit with anything we've seen from Farah so far. Yes, we managed to save one member of our immediate family, but in return that person will never again remember who we are. We are dead to them. There is to much downside here for Farah for me to vote reverence.

[X] Keep Sabah Close

Farah's about to move to Heaven, the greatest city imaginable, where his initially crappy salary would still allow him to live like a mortal prince. Sabah would want for nothing materially, for gods sake Farah could feed her with liquid prayers if we wanted to. Further, the schooling in Heaven, even whatever Farah could afford on his salary, would be way way better then whatever random education she'd get from her relatives. Not to mention she'd be under Farah's protection, and the protection of fucking Celestial lions. Compared to that whatever their distant relatives can provide to raise her would surely look shoddy.

Plus I can't imagine if Farah ended up revealing himself to Sabah more fully when she had grown up, Sabah wouldn't have some questions about why he didn't raise her himself in literal paradise.

[X] Mars (Reverence)

I want to say Rihaku said it once, either here or on spacebattles, but whomever it was had a really good perspective on exaltation and how it can be deserved and undeserved at the same time.
Before they received any scrap of power, Farah was a hero. He was a prince, a general and a great soldier, and as far as we can tell a just person. Mars didn't make him a hero, she chose Farah to be her hero.
At the same time though, there must have been thousands of heroes in creation that would've qualified as Farah did. Not only was Farah lucky enough to be the one chosen, he got a fucking exaltation! 5000 year long life, command of fate, magic kung-fu, a job that'll pay him in Ambrosia and make him the peer and superior of the greatest gods in the world. Farah didn't deserve that. No one could deserve that

Except Farrah lost everything they cherished. What is all the wealth in the world when your loved ones died horribly, you will not exist or have ever existed to those that mattered to you and your only remaining tether to your previous beloved life is a traumatized child that no longer recognizes you?

Emotionally there's a little bit of an argument to be just a bit put-off.

Also sidereals are kinda *fated* to exalt. And they are asked for several lifetimes of devotion and sacrifice in exchange for all that power.
