The dirt under your nails - ARCANE

Really the doctor? That's gotta be the most surprising one

His game play is that he has a giant bottle of gas strapped to his back and he can flip enemies over his head. The goal is just Run.
I am not even kidding. Turn the gas on, Run at people, and just keep going and flip them if they try to get on you, and just watch them die to the gass as they chase you.
And old joke is "Rule #1 of League of Legends. DON'T CHASE SINGED."
Singed: The Mad Chemist
Creating Warwick

In game he's a mad scientist with a mile long list of war crimes for his horrific chemical weapons...so yeah, he's a real charmer.
yep he used chemical weapons to attack civilian targets in a war with Ionia (Magical not!Asia) causing many issues in the region including Riven a former Noxian solider to reject Noxus after a attack.

in Leagues lore he is the playable champion that has most negatively effected other Champions. atleast directly.

he is absolutely heartless with no redeeming traits or empathy and whose gameplay involves him sprewing his poison gas. through he is not the only character whose lore personality and in game role is in conflict.

like Rell who in lore is a escaped teenager from a Noxian "training" faculty who alone wages a one-women war against her former captors and who isn't comfortable with trusting others. is a tank support who relays on clear communication with her allies and does piss poor damaged

Gonna try and guess which Arcane characters are in League

Obviously Jinx and Vi, I'd guess Vander as well. Maybe Sevika? But probably not. Ekko seems likely, and Hiemerdinger feels like a character who gives the tutorial to me. I don't think Caitlyn or Jayce, the first doesn't really have a weapon gimmick and feels like an original character, and the second, while he does get the hammer, it feels more like an item a character could use then a fighter character person

it's fine for getting them wrong thanks to Riot changing characters lore and personalities while leaving the champion the same.

and Jayce and Caitlyn are champions but Arcane season one depicts them before they get there iconic traits Caitlyn as the sniper sheriff of Piltover and Jayce superhero who using a transforming Hextech hammer gun RWBY weapon.

in game Caitlyn is a "ADC" or Marksmen a usually long range attacker with poor defenses who is suppose to farm with help of a support so they can carry late game. and i can count many games where i got stuck in her traps and a Caitlyn sniped me from halfway across the map.

Jayce is more of a top laner with six moves in his kit.

Viktor is also in game but he in Arcane is mostly unreqonsble

Dawg I'll be happy with just a glance or a brief cameo, she is THAT cool to me.
that would be cool i'd love to see more LOL element easter eggs.

and i find Arcane to be a good show but it isn't the greatest thing ever. the changes to characters made them even more generic.
it's a good show. but not the greatest piece of animation ever.

and i'd love a Arcane treatment for Xayah and Rakan. there story is so interesting.and A adventure fantasy show where the main characters are happily a couple are rare.

also as a LOL fan seeing people see how much better and more sophisticated then "Main" Leagues lore makes me upset.

What is their story anyway? I know they're a couple, but that's about it. Which is what always made me think they were kinda boring.

They are both Vastaya, an old race that is basically League's take on animal people.
They range from full humanoid animals like Rengar The Pridestalker (turn The Predator into a white lion man) to more human like with a few animal like feature (Xayaha and Rakan have feathers and bird legs). Sett is a half Vastaya half human.
Ionia is a land of ancient magic and magic and the land is naturally woven into everything in the country. However over the centuries you of course have humans being humans and trying to harness and control that magic. Over time it has hurt the land and the various Vatayian tribes, Xayah's (if I recall) is nearly all gone.
Xayah is basically a freedom fighter/terrorist depending on who you ask. She and others have been travelling around to fuck shit up and try and restore the magic, no matter the cost of unleashing it (such as wagons and houses literally coming alive and going on to attack the humans).
Rakan was a performer Xayah encountered on her travels, and she was never able to shake him. He fell in love with her and basically followed her, eventually and proudly joining the movement. He uses his charms to distract while she uses her razor sharp feathers to cut down those in their way. In time Xayah also came to love Rakan. So now they are basically a traveling battle couple, releasing magic seals, and Rakan at least tries to act like a moral compass for Xayah so mitigate unnecessary deaths while at the same time risking his own tail feathers for her to keep her alive.

Ah, I get it. That 'depending on who you ask' line is interesting. Does she harm people who deserve it or is everyone a target?

Again, it depends.
It's not like every human in Ionia is maliciously forcing nature and spirits to do their bidding, but freeing the magic has caused plenty of death.
In one of their stories it describes the utter chaos that once happened in a village after the magic was freed. Wooden wagons came alive and chucked the people off them like a bucking horse. Trees that were turned into houses (and in Ionia they literally make homes out of the twisting trunks of trees) suddenly snap back to their natural state and even grow, crushing all inside. There were even little pixie like things that sprang up, grabbed an old dude by his shirt, flew him up into the air, and dropped him to his death

So ya, while Xayah and her crew have taken out Noxian encampments and groups of Zed's Shadow Order, there are almost always going to be civilians that get caught. So in another story we see Rakan convince Xayah to talk the civilians into getting the heck out of the area before they take out a group using the local sealing stone to hurt the land, all so the innocent civilians don't get caught up in the chaos when the magic returns.

....Pardon me whilst I go and read their lore.

there characters with just their relationship are boring. but there role in the Vastya rebellion and the attempt to preserve their culture and land from human encroachment.

i'd love to find out more about The Vastya.

Xayah is women that had her tribel homelands stolen after many broken treaties. and that should sound familiar with people aquatinted with history.

also note that many Vastyan allied with the invading Noxians because of the hope of a better deal.

i'd love to see Kayn and Rhaast to. they are my favorite characters along side Lillia.

Anti-arc - She tries to keep things on the path of Zaun going to war against Piltover. Vi comes back from the dead? Put her back in the ground. Vander won't stand up and fight? He's weak. Silco getting distracted by Powder? Tells Silco to let Jinx be.
Anti-Vi - Not sure how to sum this segment
Human Replaceability - The Undercity has the "inferiority" mindset. They, to a degree, all know/see themselves as lesser than others for one reason or another. Sevika is loyal to Strength and people willing to fight Piltover. She lacks ego and sees people as replaceable.

Arcane had a incredibly huge budget they can afford to not reuse models

for non-LOL fans they are wearing the masks of Kindred the twin essences of death of Runeterra. so it's like for us dressing up as the Grim Reaper.

it seems more likely that he is just a really good consort. wait isn't it weird that a call boy good enough for Ambessa a visiting Noxian diplomat and richer then Mel to work in Zaun?

come on he could probably live in one of the finest Piltover estates fiancee by his super mommies and daddies.

also fun fact many famous Warhammer 40k novelist like Graham and ADB also write for League of Legends.

*Puts on Tinfoil Hat*
Exactly! Who would ever expect him? It's the perfect cover.

And-this is me being 1000 percent honest, like seriously I'm not even trying to be funny here-I don't think I've ever, EEEEVER, seen a male escort on tv before. Like it legitimately shocked me-it took me a good minute to process that.

Some poster on Spacebattles mention how Arcane managed to be popular on both sides of the political spectrum or "culture war"

and i realized it is very tight lip of actual political statements.

to quote Honest Trailers "Very fine people on both sides"

i say a video Arcane vs High Guardian Spice. and making videos against HGS is just a dog whistle for people who hate the "SJWs"

yeha i like how Arcane plays with gender roles.

That's the most unfair comparison I've seen in a while. If you're gonna compare Arcane to something, at least let it be something of relatively equal value. Choosing HGS is just low hanging fruit.
i mean it is funny that people only criticize HGS for stealing money that could have been spent on animez and not any of the other crunchyroll Originals

Lux and Jinx are cute <3 it seems like Riot is pairing Jinx and Lux together. alongside fans for some reason.

I don't think Lux has the capacity for enough emotional labor to deal with Arcane!Jinx even if i think they are cute..

i like Jinx/Ziggs better as Ziggs has been shown as Jinx's shoulder angel and both of them have common interests. plus Ziggs seems to be able to handle Jinx.

but finding a pairing with Jinx that wouldn't be toxic is kind of hard.

out of people that would be able to put up with Jinx and wouldn't encourage her mental health struggles. i see Braum because Braum is incredibly kind and can warm Pyke's heart.

Soraka and Taric being cosmic beings of protection and healing could also help Jinx but that isn't very playable. Janna being a Zaun deity is more plausible of helping Jinx

Please, Lux routinely deals with emotional labor that makes Jinx look like a breeze. We are talking about a Mage in anti-mage Nazi Gondor after all.

Lux is made of fucking Adamantium if she hasn't break of having to hide her nature from everyone including her brother. Doubly so for the versions of her that work for the Illuminators.

but can she deal with the extra stress of being in a romantic relationships with someone clearly suffering from mental distress and prone to violence as Jinx.
i may be projecting as i get exhausted from just having to talk to people.

and i really dislike the way Silco and Jinx are lionized in the fandom while Mel is demonized because she has privilege. which puts her in the same boat as Jayce and Caitlyn,.

the sheer vitriol she has gotten from people who clearly didn't pay attention to the show. she was a person who was exposed to violence at a young age. and is trying to be better then her war mongering family.
