Li Hai, Luan Shi, and Lao Lin

Huh, I think these are our friends names, but really mixed up. Maybe a witness that heard them after getting a bad head injury? Also they specifically don't have our name, in whatever form, which is nice.

"Why do something half-heartedly, when you can excel?"

"And in the fine art of enemy making, brother Hua Yin is supreme."

"Sadly, I can't even deny that."

My favorite part of the update

For the combat - it went really well, Levine step was extremely useful, so I want to take it to the next level.

Yeah, not going to lie, Hua Yin is actually not that far from Yang Genji, if he wasn't drunk, he'd have almost as much dodge (And would have as much if we ranked Levin Step up again, and he'd effectively be as good if he had Jianshu so he could use Numberless Stars), and while I don't think she was in top form either (Though she might have been if she's an unarmed specialist), we're actually within the same dimension as her.

That's kind of reassuring, showing how far our boi has gone from hard work and study.
Yeah, that makes me confiant in our chances in tournament for promoation. Yang isn't only a spirit cultivator after all, she is a daughter of a big shot noble from another province. Of course, there could be chances she is not the heir or not liked in her clan (she doesn't like to involve in politics and try to avoid all the time, something rather strange for a noble) but even then her resources will be better than ours.

This puts a smile on the face when you remember how Hua Yin was in his first physical classes.

We're probably going to want to try and find a proactive special move as well. We've got a good build for tanking well, but a good tank needs something to encourage the foe to stick to them and accelerate their opponent's inevitable downward spiral.

But yeah, I don't see Hua Yin taking first place, but he's a very solid favorite for second, and a good fortuitous encounter or two might make first place in contention.

[]Plan: Study to Level Up Knowledge (Cultivation) and Impress The Saint
-[x] Study group with Tao Yangyuan and Yang Genji.
-[x] Attend Core Disciple Chu Quiang's martial arts class.
-[x] Attend Core Disciple Mao Yujing's cultivation study group. It will be held in the classroom. The Saint of Broken Swords will be addressing the class at the end of the week.
-[x] Attend duties in the Archives.
-[x] Take extra time to study skills. Knowledge: Cultivation

There is a good chance to level up Knowledge: Cultivation before meeting The Saint.

Thank you God we were (at least me) overthinking and being paranoid about the Twins' intentions and Mo Xiang being a dick. It shows again just because you are enemies (or just dislike, we really aren't Mo Xiang's enemy to be honest, a rival at best) they will throw problems at you whenever they can.
... Except Zhe Chao, but fuck them.

Me as well hahaha. I think I am too traumatized from so many cultivation stories where the arrogant young master messes with MC for what boils down to being poor (or "crippled", yikes) and successful.

In fairness, while Mo Xiang is an ass we haven't really done anything to draw his ire. Aside from being the second in class to advance to Spirit ahead of him, our interactions have been limited to getting beat up twice (?) by him in combat class. There are likely tons of other non-noble disciples he's busy terrorizing interacting with.

More than that, I'd love to see a PoV from Mo to see his frame of mind. It'd be a little cliche if he followed the arrogant young master caricature and singled out MC as the outlet for all his hatred. Has he mentally acknowledged Hua Yin's genius like others or will he forever see us as dirt beneath his boot?

If we can find one, a gravity technique that gives us a gravitational pull would be nice.

On another note, from the outside it looks like we deliberately used this party as a way to fight off a threat we caused while also tying a bunch of the other cliques closer to us. This even had a bonus of overshadowing Mo inviting a higher year.

Our keikaku has only intensified!

Yang Genji looked like a cultivator novel protagonist
Protag fighting style confirmed!

I guess we could go all out in studying for the Saint talk, but we are generally at the mercy of the dice anyway, and do appear to overthink things. We have done a lot of study already.
We do need to spend some time working on our techniques too, as well as some more exploration.
But I'm fine with waiting until the week after to start chasing those if people want to go full study.

Plan idea -

[] Plan - Studying, Writ and Levine Step
-[] Attend Core Disciple Chu Quiang's martial arts class.
-[] Attend Core Disciple Mao Yujing's cultivation study group. It will be held in the classroom. The Saint of Broken Swords will be addressing the class at the end of the week.
-[] Attend duties in the Archives.
-[] Study the Writ of the Broken Tree. Sure, it's mostly koans and philosophical musings, but Hua Yin has received cultivation insights within. He could study the Writ further and see what insights it could give. Hua Yin believed he was close to a breakthrough.
-[ ] Practice the Levin Step. Hua Yin had reached the first stage of Qi-infusion with the Levin Step. He knew that he could improve it further. Hua Yin will practice at the Kiss of Tribulation. This can be taken multiple times with a diminishing returns malus.

Writ, Levine step and classes and duties.

@warumono - is it possible to add
-[ ] Try to find more about the sword saint in the archive.
As a sub clause to our archive duties? Or do we need a dedicated action?

@Karnax626 suggested it as an action, and I feel that if we can fit it in with archive duties it's a really good idea.

We gave The Twin a chance to disperse The Bei. It's not our fault that The Bei weren't intimidated by them

Damn Yang Gengi is strong. Here's a stat sheet that I've estimated;
Yang Gengi
Str: 9-10 (Nat 4-5)
Agi: 10 (Nat 5)
Int: 4
Will: ?
Cha: ?
CL: 4 (Heart Core +2 Will)
Style: Dodge: +2, Damage +4
Unarmed: 4 | Edged: ?
Weapon: Sword and Shield
Art/s: ?

I'm honestly shocked about how low her Int is.

That went a lot better then I expected, and while the Twins weren't able to directly stand up too them for us atleast till we directly started the fight, it helps that Hua Yin has made a lot of useful connections during

Is anyone willing to add

- [] 'Ask our fellow archivists about the mysertious, Qi fueled door in the back of the library' given the subplot we started last turn?

I think this shows just how for the MC has come. The MC is of a high cultivation rank for his status and experience, and once where he was as physically weak as could be now he is strong enough to fight and take down a cultivator of the same rank as his that has more experience and a weapon while he has no weapon. He also called in his friends, reputation and used his intellect and social skills to get what he wanted done.

I think she excelled at Cultivation Class due to a skill rather than base INT stat unlike Hua Yin, Tao Yangyuan and Lao Ai

She was specifically mentioned to be the "heir to the heir of Sun's Rest" so I think it's safe to assume she has plenty of resources.

I know that "given the subplot we started last turn" isn't meant to be part of the vote... but it would be hilarious if it was. Just breaking the fourth wall and they all look at each other worriedly about our mental health.
