Also, while I'm glad Momo apologized and had some character growth, she still has at least one more person besides hachiman who's wrath she must face. Komachi reserves the right to bring misfortune to anyone who causes her big brother too much trouble.
 
The girls really have their work cut out for them if they want to pull ahead of Yukino in the Hachibowl. I guess the first step would be to figure out where they stand exactly and from there figure out where they actually want to go.

"Do I really want him as boyfriend? " Is the elephant question that they ignored in the last 6 months (less for Hayasaka).

Right now, Momo's feelings likely the strongest. Except hers was muddled between literal brodom (let's remember that she was so unladylike, Hachiman shared a bath with her without getting flustered) and newfound femininity and horniness. Momo is confused by normal teen emotions and even moral values due to her upbringing.

Chika, as Kaguya observed, enjoyed a largely shallow "Boyfriend experiences" with Hachiman. But that was before Yukino came to the picture. If someone else get serious, would Chika bow down and let go, or fight for the rights and risk angering her father?

Hayasaka is the newest contender, has conflict of interest, and most likely the most mature and reserved at handling her newfound attraction. However, just like Yukino, she and Hachiman has deep understanding and good chemistry with each other. So she was far from the weakest.

Given we aren't doing a Momo arc where she apologized and earns hachiman's forgiveness, I'd say she isn't just yet, which is why I think there is time for her to run into Komachi.

The premise of this scenario is that Komachi runs into Momo before she learns Hachiman's forgiveness. I'm not suggesting she'd retaliate, but instead expect her to be similarly scornful. The punishment is social judgement.

Hachiman also on good terms but is giving Momo the cold shoulder now. Good terms is not get out of jail free card.

Komachi will forgive if Hachiman forgive. Shuuchin Hachiman is independent enough to make his decision unlike canon Hachiman who always run from his problem. Not to mention canon Komachi being highly intrusive overall.

Shuchiin Hachiman is also a fan of ironic karma/punishment
Chika stole his rare candies that only show up once a year = make her buy cheap candies everyday for a week+
Momo made him center of attention = He refused to give her attention no matter what
The slipper isn't a punishment. It is a warning.
 
One of these days I almost forgot why Chika was such a strong contender for the bowl from readers POV, because she had been out of focus for so long (even though she appeared on almost every chapter) and then I start writing again:



They're like two VTubers that everyone ship but constantly being clown on stream.

Hahaha, Yukino learned something from Haruno, she knows how to stake her claim but simply plays the waiting game. The 3 girls are just at the denial stage in regards to their feelings for Hachiman. Nice to see Yukino being rather prominent in Hachiman's life.

I did once joked about Kei having more chances with Hachiman than Chika but it seems that it might not be the case anymore.

I would say that only Momo is at the stage of complete denial and obliviousness to her own affections - which is good for her rivals, as she is the only one who isn't restricted in acting upon them.

Chika seems to at least be aware she likes Hachiman, I can't see how the so-called "Love Detective" and an aspiring politician would be completely unaware of her own feelings. Rather, she seems to be uncertain of the intensity of them, and though she seems self aware of having at least a crush, she hasn't figured out if it is more than that and if she wishes to take that next step. Her father remember, has forbidden her from romance pursuits and she would need to make a tremendous effort and risk to obtain his permission for even someone he grudgingly has cone to respect like Hachiman. So she's very hesitant to do anything more than LARP as his unofficial Girlfriend so far.

Now Hayasaka on the other side of the spectrum seems to have fully worked out how she feels, but like Chika she doesn't feel as if she can act upon them due to her job. As she has made it clear, her loyalty is to Kaguya, and she would choose her mistress over her new love for Hachiman a hundred times out of a hundred. I imagine the worry of deepening her emotional bond with Hachiman, taking the next steps, only for a conflict of interest or a confrontation in the StuCo were to occur that results in them breaking apart is something she constantly considers. Something like that would inflict far more emotional pain than simply standing by and losing him to a rival, and Hayasaka is more vulnerable than people might think.

All and all, it's great. And that's not even addressing the feelings, responsibilities, and restrictions Hachiman has!

Daily reminder that having a dating experience was one of Hayasaka's high school goal (among other youthful things). Hayasaka failing them was what turned her into NEET in canon.

Should she got the permission from Kaguya, Hayasaka is almost certainly guaranteed to go all out. And not because she's head over heels for him...

or Kaguya on and off with Miyuki will drive her nut and she will do something drastic to 8boy
 
Hahahaha, Tri, the subtle tsun tsun act regarding Hayasaka pursuing her romance.

Honestly aside from the hassle such as Oko preventing her from fully exploring it, she would just cut to the chase instead of playing a long-ass dumb game, unlike Kaguya. Aside from it stemming from being annoyed by her mistress' antics, it's a nice contrast to KaguMiyu who just played a childish game of who will confess first. Never mind that in Canon, IshiMiko became a copy of it instead of contrasting from it.

No better combo indeed.
 
I'm actually interested if the one who Nagisa fell for is Hayama. In canon she doesn't seem like someone who would fall in love with a guy she barely knows. Maybe here they have known each other for some time? And knowing how the author loves to make characters better by surrounding them with the right people, this version of Hayama might also get an upgrade due to his friendship with Nagisa or maby somebody else from Shuchiin. Although, didn't the author previously write in the past that the likelihood of other Oregairu characters appearing is extremely low?

2. In Spacebattles.com where this was posted originally, zero did make a Hayama appearance poll. I didn't remember if it was a succes though.
 
I'm happy you guys are happy together and have a kid, but can you please not flirt in front of us? It makes us forever-alone types sad.
