In the end, while a large part of you wants to hole up and wait for things to calm down, the fact that you're pretty sure you can hear Addy singing in the distance is enough to make you take action and find out what's happening. She's faint at this distance, and you can't really make out any words, but from what you remember her magic hadn't amplified the sound enough that she could be more than a couple blocks away at the maximum.
So, you cautiously creep your way along the damaged streets doing your best to avoid looking at the corpses of the slaughtered lawkeepers. Just... focus on the noise for now.
Soon you get close enough to start making out what she's singing. Or not really as the case may be. It sounds less like actual singing and more like she's trying out random lyrics to a musical accompaniment. And even the music seems to change every little while, going from somber to uplifting and back with no discernible regard for the actual contents of the lyrics she's singing.
And the streets run red with blood and fire

You begin to think that she does not in fact have a terribly compelling reason to be singing in the middle of what is essentially a war zone.
If only- "Ow! Don't hit me!"
That last was suddenly much closer. The air to your left ripples and where there was nothing, an alley appears, with a ladder to the roof of the building.
"Don't make those kinds of jokes so loudly."
This second voice definitely wasn't Addy. It sounded significantly more muffled than hers and it was hard to determine whether it was male or female.
"Fiiiiinnnneeee..." comes Addy's voice, whining, before her head appears looking down from the roof and she calls down to you. "That's you right Saphira? Come on up!"
"You mean you weren't sure?" Comes the second voice, incredulous.
"If you're going to question my judgement like this, why did you bother coming to me for advice?"
"Well, it's not like it's you I'm asking for advice."
Addy gives a loudly exaggerated haughty 'hmph' and the two of them drop off into silence. A few moments later, you finish climbing the ladder to the roof.
Addy looks the same as she did the last time you saw her, looking not the least bit effected by the revolution that had taken hold of the city. Her companion was taller and had long hair that had to be dyed to have achieved the fade it had from a dark grey to iridescent green and then a muted purple as it got longer. Her hair; you were now pretty sure it was a she from the long hair and the cut of her clothing, but it was tough to tell. Her hair was styled to look almost feathered and she had no skin exposed that you could see, covered well by heavy cloth and leather dyed variously black, white, and gray, along with a very heavy coat that had the sleeves, bottom, and collar trimmed with pigeon feathers. That, combined with a porcelain beak mask that covered her face made you think that this was one person who had seriously committed to a theme.
"Uh. Hello Addy. Hello...?"
You look at miss pigeon questioningly.
"Columbi."
...Definitely committed to a theme.
There are a lot of questions you could be asking right now, but the one that immediately springs to mind is:
"Aren't you really hot under all of that?"
Addy immediately bursts out laughing and doubles over like it's the funniest thing she's heard in her entire life.
"It's enchanted."
You notice that now that she mentions it. Looking it over, you can see that the whole getup is layered in a ludicrous number of spells. For a lot of them you can't even begin to imagine their purpose. That said...
"But I don't see any cooling spells enchanted on all that?"
She stiffens and Addy immediately stops laughing and whips her head to look over at Columbi with the most incredulous expression you've ever seen.
"Wait, seriously?" Addy blurts. Columbi just shifts uncomfortably.
Addy looks between you and her with something approaching awe.
"Oh my gods I'm never letting this go. Have you really been sweltering in that getup the entire time I've known you?"
Columbi clears her throat, and from the sound of the long and embarrassed pause she leaves in it's wake you're pretty sure that if you could see them her cheeks would be burning red.
After a moment she recovers her composure enough to say, "Bring it up again and I'm leaving you out here alone."
For a moment you see that Addy is sorely tempted, but after a moment she relents and changes the subject.
"I have your answer by the way. 'The seeds are sown but the harvest isn't ripe.'"
"Mmm. Unusually clear, isn't it?"
Addy just shrugs. You feel like you're missing something.
"Answer about what?"
Columbi speaks up.
"I was considering getting involved with all this. I decided to ask little miss oracle over here what the future held on something in particular."
That leads you to look at Addy and ask somewhat skeptically "You can see the future?"
She just waves you off.
"Not in so many words. I don't want to get into it right now. The real reason she came to find me is because she thinks I'm a little baby who can't take care of herself."
Columbi snorts and replies in an amused tone of voice.
"Given that she beat you up so badly yesterday I don't know why you're surprised. A toddler could give you a run for your money in a fist fight."
Addy hastily changes the topic once more.
"So what are you doing out here Saphira? I mean, I get that you probably came by because you heard me singing-"
"Singing she calls it. Word vomit is more like it."
"-singing, but what are you doing out of the college in the first place?"
"Visiting my parents."
"Makes sense."
Conversation trails off for a minute. and all of you look off in the distance out over the roof tops. The whole district around you is filled with burning buildings and smoke, but nothing too close to you for comfort. Off in the distance of other districts of the city, you can see small figures darting about on other rooftops and the occasional bright flash of light or fire from far off magic.
