Swarm was already on it, her EverSwarm living up to its name as the cloud of insects grew bigger still, an expanding dome of chitin and hunger ready to fight numbers with even more still. The hunger was rising again but not yet. Wait till all was in place for one endless feast instead of patchwork meals.

Second Combat: The Horde, Part 1
You're out of time. The horde falls upon you like a sea of flesh, full of snarling teeth of empty eyes. If it wasn't for Scavenger sealing the holes, the building likely would've collapsed. Even Swarm's miniature biblical plague could only weaken the endless tide. You try to calm your nerves, but you find it incredibly difficult under the circumstances.

The Major's voice breaks the tension. "Hold steady. You are magical girls. This is the minimum required to pose a threat to you. As long you hold steady, we will make it through this". The Major is a bastion of peace in the screeching hellscape around you, helping to steel yourself for the battle ahead.

As the first zombie peeks through the largest hole, Huntress releases her spell.

Everything in front of Huntress ceases to exist. A thunderous roar eclipses your hearing, drowning out the horde outside. When you look to Huntress, she has manifested a mechanical suit firing round after round through the hole. Blood and gore cover the area.

There isn't any time to admire the carnage. As quick as it arrives, the weapon disappears, and the dead flood through the hole to enact their revenge.

The sounds of machinery and countless bullets being fired drew Scavenger's attention as much as the sound of the horde rushing towards them. Amidst the roar of Purifier Brand doing what it does best, one could easily miss Scavenger's eyes going wide as she turns and looks at Bloody Huntress hovering there amongst her conjured power suit.
"I WANT THAT!"

If anyone was able to hear it, Scavenger's squeal would probably not be a comforting thought. Of course, the oncoming horde yanks her back to reality and she strikes the floor once more with Respite to try and patch up more holes.

Swarm via her growing army had a very cinematic view of Huntress going full dakka and shifting this zombie horror back towards an action shounen. This right here made the trip worth it.

Really, Scavenger was right, who wouldn't want to ride in a mecha with that much guns on it? The Major was right.

"These zombies aren't the horror, we're the horror! I'm the one who eats!"

And unlike the first clash, she'd had a lot of time to get her army nicely gigantic beforehand before telling them to crush down on the horde like chitinous rain and show them a real feeding frenzy.

Chimera bounds into the bar immediately after Huntress fires, missing the claws of multiple zombies missing him by mere inches. The hound's jaws drip with rancid blood as it drops the gnawed-on leg of the one who dared attack his mistress beside Morgan. With a quick inspection revealing the worst of her wounds had closed, Chimera licks Morgan's face before joining the others at the breach, a short bark announces his entrance to the battle before Chimera picks a target and charges. One, ten, a thousand, it matters not how many monsters threaten his mistress, he will bite, and scratch, and rip, and tear, and die as many times as it takes to keep his mistresses safe. So let the hunt begin.

While the holes were patched, the majority of her attention was on the senses, making sure no unwanted intruder would enter through a vulnerability to ambush them and hoping to find a spot to break through if necessary, although not nearly as worried about both with her preparations and the earlier display.

When Huntress said she wouldn't be able to hear or see shit, she hadn't been kidding.

Firing the Purifier Brand was akin to giving herself full-body synesthesia. She could feel the rattle of it's guns straight down to the core of her bones. Had someone tried to get her attention at all during the firing of her weapon, then she didn't have a clue; all she was aware of, was the total siege of her senses until her mechanical shell of murder ran out of ammunition and faded from the world to reload.

She flopped bonelessly to the ground.

"Uhg... I'm okay..." Driven by her Magical instinct, Huntress forces a hand to grip one of her Jaegers, and pulls it out from beneath her coat. "Using that consecutively is going to take a while."

The increasing volume of the hunter's above them and the clawing held at bay by Sunshower's Respite join into a cacophony without the sound of Bloody Huntress' spell, and with the oncoming rush of zombies, Scavenger's mind reaches through her EverSwarm as it seeks out the new holes and cracks made by the Hunter zombies. She plants her copy of Respite into the ground, raindrops fallen into the cracks sprouting new umbrellas to strike into a hunter as it slams down.

Too many, far too many holes to plug and letting the roof get broken would just be bad.

She needed to pick priorities. Her own swarm slammed down in front of the biggest hole, Swarm splitting her army into two groups; one to ram through the horde and eat that zombie that was smart enough to shoot from a distance, and another to scour the rooftop of jumping zombies. A thought releases the extra biomass gained from the first wave, strengthening her soldiers to do a proper zerg rush right back.

The sound of fighting drags Morgan back to consciousness, gunfire and howling guide her back to the waking world as she opens her eyes to the siege of the bar.

"Wha- kid I- CHIMERA KILL!!" Morgan jumps to her feet and orders her hound to action while charging the Feral Corpse that managed to break into the building.

"Essence Theft!" Power and unlife are leeched from the zombie's form in sickly green strands as it shrivels up and rots. Morgan for her part takes on an even more hideous appearance as her veins darken and sores appear across her body, Morgan's dress is likewise further decayed as seams split and sections are worn threadbare. None of this is noticed by Morgan though as she swipes at the zombie with her stolen claws.

I didn't think it would take so much out of Huntress to cast her spell, but it thinned the horde and bought time for our advantage to start compounding.

A tiny part of Huntress revels in the slaughter. The rest of her on the other hand is more preoccupied with the half dozen zombies that've dog piled her. Water and magic helping her coat ward away the fangs and claws of the things on top of her as she scrambles against them.

Eventually though, her feet manage to find purchase against the ground enough she can push, and her magic clicks into place.

As Thema's swarm devours the zombie that attacked Huntress, she witnesses an oddity through its multitude of eyes.


A corpse standing perfectly upright with proper posture, dressed in a police officer's uniform. It watches the building with an unwavering gaze.

It moves to another position, as though to reach a better perspective. It raises its hand and points left, as a group of desiccated hounds move left to circle around the block. It raises its head to the swarm, staring into them with empty eyes. It points at them, and suddenly the swarm is pain. Acid racks the swarm from all directions, eating away its numbers rapidly. The odd zombie returns its gaze to the building, before looking to its side.


It is a wretched thing. Flesh receding, gaunt and withered. Crouching, it visibly restrains itself from launching itself into the bloodbath before it as it awaits release.

Dog zombies running around the building! And a huge boss zombie hanging back!" She called out because holy shit this wasn't the kind of thing you wanted to be jumpscared by, some of her insects taking another go at the rooftop menaces while her Swarm under assault?

Those scattered and charged the police zombie because she was absolutely taking the shot at removing what counted as zombie leadership. That and she was dumping backup because she really didn't need that many bugs to finish mauling those jumpy zombies and the police zombie became top priority the moment he hurt the Swarm admittedly.

"Thanks..." Huntress manages to gurgle through the sensation wracking her body, as she desperately tries clinging to Swam. "Who'da thunk that sending a fucking addict into a mess she'd need to space her addiction was a bad idea huh?"

Blinking, she tried to look around through the writhing masses of living dead to spot the boss zombie, but failed. "Point me at a big group and I'll delete it; just hang on through my spell. -Purifier Brand."
