The Centipede's Dilemma [Exalted Kung Fu Quest]

Oh my gosh, Marrow is best boi, can we follow him on his trade route after we beat Nashtai to a pulp?

[X] ...make yourself a small reputation as a storyteller, earning respect from the village-folks and love from their children.

We're specially good at this because of our style:

Hero-comes-at-Sunrise Style: As a magistrate you were a wanderer, and could not rely on extensive resources. Thus you have learned to ingratiate yourself to trustworthy locals wherever you went. You are quick to make yourself a fixture of any given place, identifying reliable organizations and people and convincing them to help you, and you can easily familiarize yourself with obscure or unknown customs to leverage them to your advantage.

Let's take advantage of our main strenghts!

[X] ...gets into a stupid fight with an Adder student in which the student is wholly at fault, causing some other Adders to question Nashai's leadership when she protects him.

Divide and conquer!

[X] The goddess comes to you in dreams on the night before the feast, suspicious of your motives.

Marrow and Road make a fun pair. I like them.

[X] ...manages to sell his plan to lorekeeper Abanya, ensuring that the elder will be helpful rather than suspicious when comes the time to talk with the Adder.
[ ] Shay finds you as you practice your katas alone, where no one else can see you, and learns more than you'd like.

At first I was going to vote for ...find a skilled cobbler, but I have a big soft spot for wuxia stories where the hero has some big disadvantages at the start of the story. Keeping the worn-out prosthetics as a source of drama for longer will make the (hopeful) winning of the Hounds all the sweeter.

As far as the Complication option, I think Shay learning a bit of our techniques opens up the possiblity for some Jojo-like martial arts antics with counter-moves and stuff.

Kudos on the fantastic quest, Omicron. I'm really liking your writing here.

"Don't let better be the enemy of good," Marrow warns.
I really love this little saying.

My motive for the last is is that, like, Shay learning more than you'd like hopefully means that we, the readers, also learn something interesting about Road that we don't currently know.

I voted for the godess, because she is apparently the same type of god as Ten Sheaves, and Ten Sheaves is best boy in canon exalted, so I want to see what she is like

I kind of want Golden Road to become a Master of all the 5 Deadly Venoms' styles. They were meant to be unified under a single school and be one of the strongest martial arts anyways.

Personally I can only really see Golden Road learning Swaying Grass style, as there are only three martial arts that use boots as a weapon, and I do not see Golden Road as a luchador.

It is a little unfortunate there are limitations imposed by Form Weapons even in a situation where such things aren't mechanized outright beyond in universe technique training and specialization that requires a specific weapon. On the other hand there are options of just using the other form weapons if needed.

Personally I'm not that interested in learning the other Venoms. Defeating other masters of the Venoms is something I definitely want to do as a martial arts sidequest and something to dip back to for means to drive parts of the plot because wandering martial artists can always get into new trouble. What Road learns along the way though I'm more interested in seeing what Omi presents as opportunities.

I would be a little dissapointed if we had an awesome martial arts duel over a pair of Iron Boots that function like artificial legs and then continued using fighting chains just remembered that Centipede works unarmed, which opens up a lot of possibilites for cross style stuff.

Collecting 5 fangs seems like a neat sidequest.

[X] ...decides to sell some of the small luxuries and trinkets he brought for other villages along his trading route for much less than they're worth, bringing villagers and Adders together in barter.

To be honest, I kind of want to see these people get together. Mending bridges is more important than breaking them up, and I kind of want to see what Shay thinks of Road after she's established her character.

[X] The mother of a child is angered by your stories, and by the dreams they put in her son's head.

It stirs my collector's obsession.
