The Boy-Who-Lived (A Harry Potter Quest)

on the plus side, hermione has a greater chance of surviving.

As does ginny.

Hogwarts has a greater chance of not closing down due to the heir of slytherin.

Etc.

Those pros fail to compare to the pros of exploring magical Africa or Brazil.

Less shot ourselves in the foot, more stubbed our toe, I think. Besides, I doubt we would've actually voted to go to another school, despite all the debate we were having on it earlier. Hogwarts is just so iconic and fun.

Hogwarts is also the centerpiece of about 95% of HP fics, so it would have been fun going to a new school. Broaden your horizons and all.

on the negative. you won't be able to attend school with Fleur.

Prefer Veela imouto.

irrelevant characters. there's only one waifu at hogwarts that matters. Do Draco's chances of survival go up or down with us attending Hogwarts?

Horrible mpreg flashbacks.

Yeah...that bit about not changing canon...

Brainstorming future events and I think I lied.

It was inevitable.

Good: stat rolls were good, we got vest of 4 there. Loner actually seems to amplify stat gain - that's quite good!

Also good: we're not going to XXX exotic school and leaving Hogwarts to hang.

I am hopeful we can still become Krum's bro in the Triwizard when he comes here.

2= Intelligence Gets Favorite Stat/Least Favorite Increase
Also, did something get confused with the Favoured/Least Favoured roll?

Because I'm pretty sure we rolled a 2 on both die, so should be Int/Str according to this.

I mean, I don't mind getting the frankly better build, but if it was a mistake it should be changed back.

WOW that was fucking awful, I'm depressed now. I mean... I'm not blaming anybody for how the dice fell, but it really takes the wind out of your sails to fail so often and so horribly in character creation.

It wasn't a major character failure - really, it was just a warning about overreach. Expecting to calm down a bully with parental support was, perhaps, too high for someone with a -1 CHA mod.

Besides, we didn't suffer major consequences except Obliviated, and Harry's life improved from regular Dursleys, though at a significant cost.

Nearly nine "years had passed since the Dursleys had woken up to find their nephew on the front step, but Privet Drive had hardly changed at all. The sun rose on the same tidy front gardens and lit up the brass number four on the Dursleys' front door; it crept into their living room, which was almost exactly the same as it had been on the night when Mr. Dursley had seen that fateful news report about the owls. Only the photographs on the mantelpiece really showed how much time had passed. Nine years ago, there had been lots of pictures of what looked like a large pink beach ball wearing different-colored bonnets -- but Dudley Dursley was no longer a baby, and now the photographs showed a large blond boy riding his first bicycle, on a carousel at the fair, playing a computer game with his father, being hugged and kissed by his mother. The room held no sign at all that another boy lived in the house, too." -Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone, J.K. Rowling.

The only sign that another boy lived in the house was your room. Small and empty save for a simple bed and wooden desk, it was your sanctuary from the world. Books rested upon the desk. Sometime in your academic career, you had decided that you had enjoyed reading. Your love of reading,

had spilled over into your enjoyment of your classes. You actually found reading during class to be fun. Furthermore, you had been enthralled by the works of the playwrights. Shakespeare spoke to you. Though you hated singing, you had decided that if you ever got the chance to perform on stage as an actor you would do so.

You shifted in your bed. The sheets scratched your skin, but you kept your eyes closed. The warmth of the bed overrode the uncomfortable sheets and you breathed deeply. You were just about to fall back asleep...

"Up! Get Up! Now!"

The shrill voice of your aunt broke you from your slumber and you groaned. Your family had been apathetic towards for the most part, but recently it seemed that they had reverted back to their old ways of harsh punishment. A part of you was afraid that you might find yourself thrust back into your cupboard.

"Up!"

Your aunt rapped against your door once more. You sighed and rolled out of bed. You quickly dressed and made yourself down to the kitchen where Aunt Petunia stood with a scowl on her face.

"Keep an eye on the bacon! Everything must be perfect for my Duddlikins birthday!"

Oh. Right. Today was Dudley's birthday. You frowned. It wasn't one of your favorite days of the year to say the least, but you walked over to the stove and began to move the bacon around the skillet. The grease popped and you felt it burn your arm, but you paid it little heed.

The thumping steps of your uncle caused you to turn. The man was bleary eyed, having just awoken. The man grumbled as he took his seat at the table and barked at you to bring him a cup of coffee. You quickly brought the man a cup and returned to making the bacon.

The morning passed uneventfully aside from Dudley throwing a tantrum regarding the number of presents he had received. You spent your time in your room, reading your copy of a young adult novel you had picked up from the library. Suddenly, you heard Aunt Petunia knock on your door,

"Come on, Dudley wants to go to the zoo and we can't leave you here by yourself."

Your cousin ignored you and the family soon reached the zoo. You quickly became separated from the Dursleys, but that suited you just fine. You knew they would be headed to the lunch stands within a few hours. You could take the time to explore and examine the different exhibits.

You chose to visit the ,

(GM Note: This is not the house choice, but it can play a factor in what houses are available to you).

The next year passed slowly. Your classes were gradually becoming harder, but you found yourself enjoying them. The Dursley's still treated you with apathy and few students were willing to talk to you much less be your friend, but you found that,

you did not mind all that much. You enjoyed being alone. That said, you were not afraid to pursue your passions.

The community was putting on a play of A Christmas Carol and needed a student for the role of Tiny Tim. You quickly put your name down on the register. The day of auditions came quickly.

"Hello, Harry," Mrs. Doubtfire smiled at you. Though you had refused her offer of taking singing lessons, the teacher still seemed to care about you as her student. You shifted nervously on the stage and looked at your teacher and a man with a twirly mustached named Mr. Williams. Mr. Williams smiled at you, showing far too many teeth, but he seemed to be a man of great exuberance,

"Hello Harry, indeed! I'm the director of the play and I'm in need of a Tiny Tim! Would you be willing to give it a go?"

You nodded. You had read a copy of A Christmas Carol and knew the motivations of the character. You still felt nervous up on the stage. Mr. Williams smiled and handed you a script. You looked over it for several moments and then began to read,

The words flowed off your tongue. You knew before you even finished that Mr. Williams would give you the part, but you felt joy nonetheless when he called your name. You had become Tiny Tim.

"Absolutely not!" Vernon shouted. His face was red and anger glinted in his eyes. You knew that the Dursley's would not be particularly favorable to the idea, but you had not know that Vernon would respond so vehemently against the idea. He glared at you,

"You'll not embarrass this family by doing something as...girly as acting!"

You,

nodded,

"Okay Uncle Vernon. I'll drop out of the play."

But you did not. You continued to go to rehearsals and made certain the Dursleys never knew what you were doing. You convinced the director to remove your name from the bulletin and the play went off without a hitch. You performed,

exceptionally.

"God bless us, everyone!"

You smiled as you looked out at the crowd. Your eyes landed on an elderly gentleman in a suit. He was seated in the front row with a kind smile upon his face. The man seemed familiar somehow. He nodded at you and clapped along with the rest of the crowd. His eyes twinkled, but you did not see him again.

You continued to act and joined the drama club despite your natural introversion. You began to hope that maybe...one day...you could become a professional actor.

At least...until the letters started arriving.
