Nilam Watson, a construction worker on the way to her job suddenly hears the overpowering sound of a bell, followed by falling into a darkness that opened up below her.

When she wakes up from being rudely relocated, she finds herself to be a smaller being made out of bricks and bereft of her arms.

Now stuck in a sewer that seems to have been harried by an earthquake, she attempts to find a way out, not aware of just how much the world has changed from that one enigmatic knell...

    Q: What exactly is this?
    ------A: This is The Ashlar Knells, a story I have worked on since november last year.

    Q: It looks like your other work, why is it posted in user fiction?
    ------A: Unlike things like Terrene Spire or Mycelium Roots, The Ashlar Knells is entirely controlled by me, not taking any user input. This is in and off itself an experiment that basically just reverts what I make into a funky form of a webcomic.

    Q: Why is it being posted now, here?
    ------A: I am desperately trying to stay sane and I frankly need positive attention to keep functioning.

    Q: How often will it update?
    ------A: I currently have 15 pages more than what has been posted here, which will be posted over the next 15 days. Beyond that I don't know when it will update, as I am still fighting my untreated problems.

    Though, she should probably be thankful she lost her nose. It must smell rank down there...

    You have developed a style so unique that if you were create another quest under a pseudonym then I would more than half-certain that person was you. Congrats.

    I always like it when those interfaces have a character of their own.
     
    The Narration Box certainly doesn't pull any punches.

    I assume golemancer is golem crafting related and golems are always awesome! The Boring joke hits me personally. :p
     
    I'm glad you're creating again (well, been creating while absent). I'm very happy for you to totally control the direction of this story. I was never here for the reader input. Can't wait to see how this develops.

    Heh, Narration Box is a rude one! Makes sense, you get very few narrators who are willingly to help protags out.

    I didn't notice the structure to the right before. It always a surprises me how little how little is needed to suggest a face.
