Here it is. I know Reddit also had a section with a bunch of stories from a dogs pov.

oh dear, here we go again... yep there is the rivers of tears... goddamnit...

I know! I'll just read this fascinating derail discussiong about all kinds of stuff!

and tears have dried and my neck hurts from nodding. ouch.

and now...

It doesn't matter why we do the research, its important stuff to know. Terraforming will be an important part of the future. Also, I find your timeline is a bit small. Throughout the history of the Earth the temperature swings around. There have been several Ice Ages, and several Hot Ages. By best estimate, and your timeline, the last Ice Age was 20,000 years ago. The Earth is warming now. Why is not important, but rather how to control it IS.

Going by most of the human accomplishments listed, we should ramp up the temps to really get technology going!

So go get your copy of Tinfoil Hat Linux. Tinfoil Hat Linux - Wikipedia

That distro seems to be gone! The things it stopped must have killed it! No activity on getting it fixed since 2015!

The problem is that these researches usually are financial black holes that don't produce practically applicable results, only perpetuating the process of research.

A road to nowhere may take forever.
There's a mod to Galactic Civilization that adds a project designed never to end, thus keeping something going. (It's used near the end of the tech trees when there are few projects left)

The US Congress routinely orders Bridges to Nowhere, if not stopped.

As for who benefits from alarmist climate change propaganda? The rich elites of the First World.
THEY can get the government to force YOU to suffer for the climate's sake, while they go on wasting energy just like always on their private jets, and in their immense, energy-wasting mansions, while feeling good about having virtue-signaled that they care about a trendy cause.

Us serfs can go suck it, and screw those people of the Third World who are depending on using fossil fuels to potentially get up to First World standards.
(NO, you can't have nuclear!)<Insert ode to possibilities of Thorium reactors>

Until the elites take it seriously enough to change their lives, I'm not going to believe it.

It's so nice that only one guy (so far) went to the bad place in the climate change discussion!

Fossil fuels were necessary for delevopment because we didn't have any other ways.

Now that we do have green energy sources, it's the duty of developing countries to use them.

Indeed, the scientists trained in the relevant fields obviously lack knowledge compared to the elite!

That's why I don't work. Obviously needing to work for money is just a myth propagated by the elite.

Gee, you go to sleep for best part of a day due to overindulging in cold meds, and you end up returning to chaos. How did we go from trolling lizards to discussing climate change and an apparent Godzilla using a set of steps for something naughty? Oh, and as for the greenest member of the family, that's easy - it's uncle algae, I mean algie... :p

In polite circles, the Family does not refer to the Oops. Now, in the long term, that oxygen thing went okay, but still ...

It's sort of useful stuff, but a massive fire hazard, and very hard on many otherwise useful elements, like sodium, iron... anything it reacts with. On the whole, 4/10!

I am pleased to see people who can disagree, but do it politely. This is rare and should be cherished!

We may not see eye to eye on some subjects but can at least have a civil discussion about it, even if that ends up being, 'There's nothing to discuss. Moving on...' :D

And on that note, I shall move on. Unfortunately that's not in the direction of a new chapter as much as I'd like it to be, since I'm utterly snowed under with this current project, but I live in hope that I will be able to please people over the weekend.

And perhaps get a chapter or two out as well

Had a friend coming over, so I asked if he wanted a cupcake when he got here. I then mentioned I'd been in the mood for baking recently. Thus, cupcakes. He said sure, so I pulled out a pair of coffee mugs and made a Perfect Size For 1 brownie for myself, and a Perfect Size for 1 triple chocolate cake for him. His finished cooling just as he knocked on the door. I grabbed a fork, and handed him the mug and fork as he entered.

My friend looked at me, looked at the mug in his hand, then gave me a flat stare while asking "What is this?"

My response: "It's a triple chocolate cup cake."

Ain't I a stinker?

True, but she has no interest in doing so. You would also get a lot of people saying it was all CGI, or a Master effect, or a PRT trick, or a Family trick, or bad lighting, or swamp gas, or Venus refracted through the upper atmosphere, or...

:D

If it weren't the truth, you have to admit that this is exactly the type of thing the Family would do just to mess with people. Piggot and Miss Militia are now convinced that never seeing Saurial and Raptaur together was the Family just f***ing with them. Honestly, I'll be curious to see if Linda believes it when they finally fully initiate her into the secret knowledge of the Family... Amy, Lisa, Leet, Uber, and some of the DWU folks have the advantage of seeing the early days when it was quite clear that Taylor was all of the different members of the family. Linda, on the other hand, has had conversations with Saurial, Raptaur, Ianthe and Metis all at the same time. How do you go from that to, "oh, by the way, these two different beings with different personalities are actually a teenage girl with a shapeshifting demon in her head." Hell, there is video of Ianthe and Amy wandering around BB together, so even showing Amy getting into her bioconstruct probably would be suspected as a prank. Taylor and the others have done an amazingly good job of creating a whole alien species from very little, including a language that is clearly very rich and dense, but has no correlation to anything on Earth and seems tailor-made (no pun intended) for reptiles.

I think you've got this backwards. If you're rich enough you can pay money to be comfortable even when the planet has started boiling. When there are record temperatures in New York it's not the rich that die from heatstroke, it's the poor old lady that couldn't afford air conditioning.

Climate change for the next 80 years won't result in suddenly drowning major cities. Nope, it'll instead be all about more and stronger storms, changing the weather patterns so that some places become drier, others wetter and warming and acidifying the oceans so that they produce less fish. (Warmer water holds less oxygen and can't support as much plankton or newly hatched fish spawn).

Climate change in the near future is all about the food. The not having of food to be precise. In a rich country like the US or in Europe this would only lead to higher food costs as access to aggricultural water becomes more expensive. But in developing nations it might lead to starvation and unrest. Enough people starving and moving might be the trigger for the next world war.

Except we're still working on making solar and wind really green. They currently involve a lot of lithium and cobalt mines, and there is a lot of up front overhead in manufacturing and maintenance. Parts of Europe dedicated to "green energy" are importing biomass from across the ocean, shipped via conventional fuels, which makes it rather a wash.

The only really green energy is animal power, fueled by on site feed, and on site biomass harvested without deep carbon sources. Properly managed grasslands and forests can absorb and store carbon from the air into soil above and beyond what they repackage as fuel. But most people don't want to live this way. I have more means than most in that department (land, and a half trained ox) and I still heat with petroleum and rent heavy equipment for some farm management jobs.

Energy conservation is where truly being green at, especially at the industrial process level. When energy prices are high, these improvements even pay for themselves. Any time you see steam coming out a chimney, or snow melting on a roof, that's lost heat that could have been captured and reused.

Deliberate change of topic time!

So, we have the Cake-in-a-Cup (called a Cake Cup for short) and the Pasta Plate. Now, I don't know about you guys and gals. But I kinda would love the Cake Anywhere and Pasta Anywhere systems to be available in our world. But let's think about it for a moment. Clearly the Food Anywhere series would be popular. So what other silly food prep systems in impossible format could The Family have in the Food Anywhere series? Obviously each product line would require it's own improbable cooking/serving dish, ideally one that's easy to tell apart from the rest of the line while maintaining the theme of using everyday dishes to prepare the foods.

Our newest reader. (He's a little grumpy about climate change, the sudden ground blizzard is keeping him inside. ;))
