Tatsuki Quest: Somehow, I became the protagonist of this shonen battle manga!? [Bleach]

but the hollow we just killed didn't have any sensory abilities it just ambushed us and got in a few good hits.

We don't know that. In fact, the very fact he ambushed us might point out to him having sensory abilities - after all, if he sensed Tatsuki coming, it would explain the ambush perfectly.

I say we should go for Perception seeing it is at Novice as of this time. I think unlike the other two options this one will have the most utility in and out of combat. Plus it would be nice to not get ambushed all the time.

The weirdest part of Tatsuki's power to me right now is the fact that the ability in question (right now strength) manifests as clothing. super weird.

I mean, unless tatsuki is distantly related to the royal court guard lady and the combination of rukias powers and the imminent hollow danger caused something to awaken.
(note, I am not seriously considering this. but if its true I called it all the way back on the seventh page)

What with the body suit I'm half expecting some sort of spiritual Venom-style Symbiote

I think the clothing manifestation is from Ichigo as well. He was the one to spontaneously manifest his clothing/zanpakuto later on, when that shouldn't have been possible. Afterwards, his Bankai's long coat apparently maps directly to his level of spirit energy remaining.

One of those "Quincies doing weird shit to the world" thing, unless I'm mistaken. So yeah, that.

So far everyone is talking about how we could be Chad with strength and toughness or Yoruichi with strength and speed. Personally I feel sensory powers would allow us to carve a a somewhat unique niche as none of the canon main cast relied on or specialized in perception based abilities as far as I can remember. Even if we don't end up having it as a major focus this power would be very useful to have in the early part of the story where we are actually hunting Hollows rather than fighting Soul Reapers or Arrancar

You know what, I like the idea of the already skilled Tatsuki knowing the importance of situational awareness, just as much as any amount of speed or strength. Like yeah, she has to be able to keep up, but if she dominates the information game, she has greater chances at success than just being able to punch harder. I'm sold.

[x] Like you had skin made from iron.

I'm grabbing this because we are inevitably going to have to fight foes with swords and the like, which if we want to go the unarmed combat route would mean we need to have skin tough enough to allow us to parry them barehanded.

In the list of priorities, I believe that senses are more important right now. We don't exactly have the benefit of Rukia's radar phone at all times - she seems to primarily stay with Ichigo (why? We should talk to our parents, it's far more appropriate for Rukia to room with us), and we need to be able to detect hollows. Iron skin comes later

In addition to all the practical reasons, I just really want to rub Ichigo's face in how we're clearly better at something than him.

Also, Tatsuki seems to be appreciative of Ichigo's good qualities (his soft gooey compassion center). I've always interpreted Tatsuki as having a crush on Ichigo that she repressed for Orihime's sake, so anything that hints in that direction pleases me.

"Well, that's good because Substitute Shinigami duty starts today. Follow me!" Rukia says, and left with no way to get back to your body you and Ichigo follow her. She sets a fast pace, her leaps graceful and inhuman. Even reduced as she is, you can see the skill inherent in the way she moves. Also she's pretty cute.

Ah I see, as part of usurping Ichigo's role she must also usurp the friendship with ambiguously romantic overtones with Rukia.

It checks out.

You know? I always did feel a little cheated that Tatsuki never really got to do anything in Bleach.

This...this is good

Is'nt there that theory floating around that Rukia is attracted to girls? like not in a subtext way, but in a she's in denial way? I remember reading her interaction with Miyako and thinking it sounded a lot like she had an unacknowledged crush.

I find the idea of her and Tatsuki kind of flirting while they both refuse to acknowledge it amusing. I wonder if ichaigo will pick up on it?
