Tatsuki Quest: Somehow, I became the protagonist of this shonen battle manga!? [Bleach]

All good points. Still, I felt the need of pointing out that someone marrying is not really a full counter to the "Haah, Gaaaaaay!" argument, nor a sign of exclusive preference.
And as the other guy had said, there are some signs that could lead to interesting interpretations, so is not a far fetched asspull view of things.
Fair enough.

To put my perspective another way: I cannot imagine anyone marrying Renji Abarai for anything but love.

This isn't me saying "Renji's a terrible person", more "Renji's the sort of personality that doesn't lend himself easily to that level of committed relationship".

(He's got an awesome Zanpakutou that's not really an asspull of a powerset, too.)

[x] Stay near Orihime. If you lead the creature away, it might double back on you.

I guess I'm going to be That Guy.

[x] Lead the creature away from here. Every second it spends near Orihime is one she's further endangered by.

The way this went in canon, Orihime threw herself in front of an attack meant for Ichigo. She hasn't been disembodied this time, so if she tries the same thing here she'd be a lot less durable and Rukia's healing wouldn't work nearly as well for her.

Techniques:

Hollow's Strength (Basic, 0/500XP)
You have consumed the strength of a basic Hollow. When manifested, your body is covered by a skin-tight strengthening garment, black with lines of gold.

Eyes of the Hollow (Basic, 0/500XP)
You have consumed the spiritual senses of a basic Hollow. When manifested, your eyes turn black and gold. They enable you to better sense spiritual phenomena, and to translate that 'sixth sense' into visual data.

Just in case anyone hasn't seen it. Woo!

I have this image of endgame Tatsuki with Legendary Combat Arts defeating speed with sheer skill. In a 'they're faster but still can't hit her' kind of way, and doing perfect ohko counters. Maybe even countering/parrying things that can't technically be countered/parried like lasers and AoE's and stuff as well.

Nice an idea as that is, there are limits to skill. It doesn't matter how skilled you if (for example) your enemy can move so much faster than you that you can't even process that they've moved, let alone see it.

Shipping's probably going to be fairly pointless here anyway, as based on the not-precisely-subtle hints @Tekomandor has sprinkled through both this quest and a previous one? She's aiming for either Orihime X Tatsuki, or Orihime X Tatsuki X Ichigo.

You know....Tatsuki's ability isn't horrifically different, in principle, from either Rukia's Bankai, or Kenpachi's Bankai. Both of those transform the body of the sword-wielder, granting them superhuman (for Shinigami) physical abilities.

Now, Tatsuki's is obviously more Hollow-like than theirs, but perhaps that's a consequence of how she achieved her Shinigami powers? Meaning that the barrier between "Hollow power" and "Shinigami power" is weaker than in most Shinigami Zanpakutou?

Thus, her sword (whose theme seems to be "Constant Evolution") is already shaping itself uniquely due to the circumstances, but might well have shown itself to be one of those transformative-type swords even if she'd become a Shinigami the "traditional" way.

Which makes me think:
-Her Shikai, once she knows the name, is likely to be potent
-She may be in "constant release", although both cases of that (Ichigo and Kenpachi) turned out to be, uh, not that.
-With as easily as she's adapting to these powers she may be a more natural Vizard than any of the others...
-I am relieved she's purifying the Hollows and only taking a "sample" to upgrade herself. I'm hoping for (and if necessary will vote and maybe Omake for) this to continue.

I'd like to believe that impossible skill can trump impossible speed with a little foresight, but the point is moot because we'll likely be raising our speed anyways, even if we do go the strength route, because Physical Enhancement is both speed and strength.

To me it looks more like Tatsuki's got access to two entirely separate powersets; her Shinigami powers (that she'll likely lose at some point), and some ability based off of her own natural spiritual potential. The Hollow-eating doesn't function anything like Shinigami powers or Hollow powers, after all- it's not based on her sword or a mask, and is usable without exiting her body.

Physical ability matters a lot. Just being bigger and stronger than your opponent is enough to net you a significant advantage in real life, and past a certain point those sorts of advantages become insurmountable. No matter how skilled an ordinary human is, they aren't going to beat an angry Gorilla in a straight-up fist fight.

I would question how much Rukia's canon sexuality even matters in a quest explicitly taking a sledgehammer to canon, but I'm pretty sure that that isn't the route the quest is going anyway so, like...what's it matter, really?

[x] Stay near Orihime. If you lead the creature away, it might double back on you.

There is no real net positive to not doing so, and if anything it'll be counterproductive.

Hm...I like this, a fun power that makes me assume this is a more potent version of what a FullBring can become as unlike the usual who obtain the hollow energies via their mother but a more direct infusion with some shinigami as well, thus lending her power to be more like a traditional hollow in that aspect.

Hm, good points, though as I recall there's at least some ability of Shinigami to exert powers even when in their body/a Gigai.

The Evolution ability does seem kind of Hollow-ish though; it's strength based on consumption.

...That, or Tatsuki's actually a Primal Zerg.

afa the Rukia discussion goes

zooms aggressively on neck and shoulder
"idol"

there's simply no heterosexual explanation for this

IIRC, we only ever see Shinigami using Kido when they're in their Gigai- a generic ability based on manipulation of spiritual energy with no need for an external focus (like their Zanpakuto, or the armour/clothing Tatsuki's developing). At the very least I don't remember any occasion in which a Shinigami manifests their Zanpakuto whilst in a Gigai, and an ability as specific as what Tatsuki's showing here would have to be Zanpakuto-based if it was a Shinigami power. And that actually puts another stumbling block in the way of this being a Shinigami-based ability; Tatsuki doesn't even know her Zanpakuto is sentient, let alone know its name.

As for her powers being Hollow-based, whilst they do have a definite Hollow tint to them- aside from the consumption aspect, the description of her eyes is a dead giveaway- they don't function in the same way as Hollow powers generally do. Tatsuki doesn't have a mask or a monstrous mutated form, she's gaining specific abilities from consumption rather than just a generic increase in power, her abilities are manifesting as physical armour/clothing, and so on. If anything I'd say they're most similar to a Fullbringer's power, except that Tatsuki doesn't have a focus she could be manifesting a Fullbring through and isn't showing any of the other abilities Fullbringers have.

Point, though Chad's Fullbring was his arms/skin, so there's some precedent.

*Resolves to try and give Chad some love via Omakes, because **** Kubo for laying him by the wayside*

Perfect Defenses are great, even if they eat your mote pool. :lol

If we end up eating Sora, I won't know how to feel.
