Super Hollow Knight: Hornet Sequel 'Silksong' Announced

Where was the "trained by bees" thing established?

And...didn't the bees remain loyal to Radiance all along? Why would they have helped train Hornet?
No the Bees weren't loyal to the Radiance. As for the Bees thing basically during development she was referred to as the Child of Three Queens with Vespa apparently having trained and named her.

Holy shit that trailer looks amazing.

Genuinely great. I don't even care how far away the release date is, since I need to finish the first game before that anyway.

But I am still so very, very hyped for this. :D

The release date was yesterday, so no need to worry about the wait.:p

EDIT: Derp, misread the tweet, that was for the dlc trailer.

TeamCherry underpriced their last game so I wouldn't be surprised if they price Silksong between 20 and 30 euros.

I felt kind of guilty buying their last game for $15, because that felt like way too little money to give them for such a great game. Still, getting it on multiple systems slightly mollifies my guilt.

E:
Spelling error fixed.

So now that there's a new sequel I suppose we can all take Hornet's advice and Gi' Gud.

(Seriously that's what that line sounds like to me. Given the context it's not even an unfair thing to say).

She would obviously be awed by his prowess /s

So, in other news, after the announcement of the sequel I've created a new save and am playing through again. No, I didn't turn permadeath on because I'm a wimp and I completely forgot half of the mechanics of the game.

Still, it reminded me how gorgeous and amazing this game is. I'm not really very far in my replay (just got to Crystal Peak after City of tears/Soul Sanctum) but the bosses are fun, there's nothing that really feels 'unfair' and there are a lot of things to find with new abilities.

Reminds me again of playing this the first time, or even playing through Super Metroid the first time back in the days of yore when the dinosaur roamed the earth and it was a current game.

Also, it will be at the tree house today. At least, today for me.

Huh. So we have Higher Being shenanigans going on in Pharloom as well. Not Radiance, obviously, not near enough orange goo for that. But the seals and bells seem to indicate that something's up.

Heh, either way, Pharloom's gonna find out the hard way that kidnapping Hornet wasn't their brightest idea. I look forward to the fallout. :D

Well from what I can tell there appears to be some kind of thread connecting the various enemies to something higher up in the Kingdom as you can see it for a brief moment when Hornet attacks some enemies.

That... that could be nothing but the effects, but given the way those threads were binding that bell, how the Silk was silencing the bell's Song...

I actually have my own theories about the theme of this cursed kingdom.

As you'll all recall, Hollow Knight and Hallownest's plight were about survival, fighting against the dark (or Light as it were) and trying to live, no matter how dark or dirty you had to fight.

But see, here's the opening quote to Silksong:

They see your beauty, so frail and fine,
They see your peace, woven of faith and toil,
They forget your heart, bound in slumber and servitude,
When you wake they shall see your truth,
A beast's nature bare to all.

From 'Pharloom's Folly' by the Conductor Romino."

When you consider how this is meant to define Pharloom and its rulers as Elegy for Hallownest defined the dead kingdom and its Pale King, this presents an entirely different dynamic. Especially when you consider Lace's dialogue and actions: a spider fallen from her cage, putting her out of her misery of struggling, and the way Lace dances and flourishes as she fights, caring more for appearance than she does for effect. A sharp contrast to Hornet's curt and pragmatic style.

Just like Hallownest, Pharloom is frozen. But where Hallownest is frozen midfall, Pharloom is frozen at its peak, the nobility of the Citadel extolling beauty and grace above all else. At the expense of all else.

They must have Weavers chained up making them more of their beloved and beautiful silk, and wanted to add Hornet to the loom.

Bugs, pinned in glass cases, eternally beautiful, moreso in death than in life, with their spirits lingering on and pulling the threads of the Kingdom that the Weavers weave, so that the lesser, less beautiful insects that are literally beneath them will continue to toil and keep them in luxury.

If we thought Hallownest was messed up, I guarantee we ain't seen nothing yet.

Imma just wait until mossbagvidya comes out with another lore video.

What a delightful cretin he is.
