3.5 Could It Be?

Saya released Roselia, Haunter, and Honedge. She grabbed Honedge by the hilt as Haunter blurred forward and Roselia Giga Drained both of the missing nins. They visibly staggered as Haunter phased through a swipe of Kisame's sword and entered his body. Haunter seemed to have trouble with it though as Kisame sweated and staggered. She could hear Sasuke doing his chidori as Honedge wrapped around her arm and burned a brilliant white as it grew at least two more feet. Charging forward, Saya slashed at Itachi.
Then Itachi grabbed Sasuke's wrist and swung him into Saya, causing her to turn off the sword while he turned around to Kisame and planted a fist in his gut to look him in the eyes. Haunter was hurled out of Kisame while Roselia Giga Drained both of them again. Itachi snapped his head to Roselia and Roselia screamed as black flames appeared on the pokemon. Saya pushed Sasuke off of her and charged at Itachi again who dodged three of her strikes by the slimmest of margins before snapping his foot into Saya's face and into another room. Her face and back screamed pain at her and she scrabbled to get to her feet as Itachi approached. Her summoning scroll had gotten dislodged in the throw and was glowing purple suddenly. In a moment of intuition, she grabbed it from the floor.
"I say we kill her," Kisame snapped viciously.
"Yes ... She is troublesome," Itachi said, sounding vaguely irritated.
Saya's hands shook, but trusting in Arceus, she opened the scroll and released ...

mega evolution is literally power of friendship
we're in a shonen anime, where friendship is the strongest power ever
we need to choose ANYONE except Darkrai, all of the other pokemon have mega evolutions
Without a mega evolution we dont have any last minute powerups to save our ass, which means no safety net

3.6 In Nightmares, The Truth Comes Out

Black flickering energies emerged from the scroll as Darkrai, the master of Nightmares, rose from the scroll. Kisame slashed through Darkrai, but there was no effect as he raised a hand and sent them to sleep. The two missing nin collapsed to fitful sleep.
[Curious dreams ...] Darkrai said, before turning to a relieved Saya. [It is good to meet you Iwa Saya. Arceus has told me much about you. And there is much to tell you. Ah, a visitor.]
Sasuke was standing in the hole Saya's body had made, looking down at Itachi's sleeping form. He held a kunai in his hands and a crazed look on his face.
[You are Uchiha Sasuke yes?] Darkrai asked, distracting Sasuke from Itachi for a moment. [There's something curious about Itachi's nightmares. Would you like to take a look?]
"Nightmares? What would a monster like him have nightmares about?" Sasuke asked, brows furrowing. Darkrai simply held out a hand. Saya nodded to Sasuke when he looked at her and he reluctantly took his hand. They disappeared in a swirl of black and Jiraiya popped his head around the hole, blinking at the sight of two sleeping missing nin.
"What the fuck?" Jiraiya said, blinking. Saya was about to collapse when she remembered Roselia and dragged her body out to see the charred corpse of her pokemon. Saya gave a broken sob as Jiraiya sealed the black flames and gently took the pokemon's body to her.
"I'm sorry," Jiraiya said awkwardly. He patted her shoulder as Naruto, Gai, and Karin found them like that.

They (Jiraiya) paid for the damages and found another hotel inn to stay at while taking the bodies of the missing nin with them. Saya advised against killing them until Darkrai and Sasuke came out. Eventually they did in a swirl of black with Sasuke looking tired and weary.
"How long has it been for you guys?" Sasuke asked. Naruto frowned.
"Just a few hours, why?"
"It's been two weeks for me," Sasuke replied, before burying his head in his hands. "Itachi you idiot ..."
"Kid, what's going on? What did you see?" Jiraiya prodded.
"The Uchiha clan was murdered on the orders of Danzo," Sasuke said, quietly. Jiraiya reared back as if he'd been struck, but his eyes flickered around like he was putting together several pieces. "Itachi has been on a long undercover mission to undercover information about the Akatsuki."
"Well. It looks like I get to kick that bastard's ass afterall," Jiraiya said, darkly.
Saya blinked several times while Karin held up a stop sign with her arms. "Hold up for those not from Konoha. Wasn't the Uchiha clan murdered by Itachi?"
"Yes, but Danzo ordered him to by threatening me!" Sasuke explained, looking furious. "I'm going to kill him!"
"Whoa kid, you're good, but Danzo's still at least a A-Rank shinobi. I'll let you slit his throat, but leave the fighting to me," Jiraiya advised. Sasuke simmered down.
Naruto looked disturbed. "Who's Danzo?"
"Some overpuffed idiot who's an old teammate that Sarutobi has apparently given way too much leeway with," Jiraiya growled. "But we should probably get Tsunade first before going back to Konoha. A united front will be better for getting him executed."
"Why is Tsunade so important?" Saya asked.
"She's going to be the next Hokage," Jiraiya explained. "And she's strong. She'll hold down Danzo while you punch him Sasuke. Still, I didn't plan on bringing such an entourage. Saya and Gai, you should go back to the village."
"But Darkrai's keeping them asleep!" Saya exclaimed.
[I can stay with Jiraiya and keep them asleep without you, Saya.] Darkrai told her gently.
"The longer you stay here, the more likely that Sarutobi's going to find out and be upset. Part of your pardon is to stay inside the village walls." Jiraiya reminded her.
What do you do?
[ ] Insist on staying with them.
[ ] Go back to the village.
