After your hunt with Jiro, you find yourself lingering in your old Kami village, a Wyld place nestled deep within the Stonebreaker Mountains. You tell yourself it's just to shop, but really it's to sink into the atmosphere of the place and reclaim a little bit of what you were before your Celestial training to be a Bureaucrat.
While you're still a bit scraggly around the edges, this place makes you feel strong, tranquil and wild, much more your proper self. There are Kami here in the shape of hunting hounds that a part of you envies still. They, at least, have a simple existence.
Even now, you're stuck with this duty around your neck. And so you take your budget to Grandfather Wyldclaw, a old half-bear Kami who's famed for his prowess for hunting. His lodge lies deep in the mountain, almost one with the living rock. He's been here for centuries before you, and he'll probably be here for centuries after you.
"You want a Treasure, hmm? Hmmm. Hmnmmmm. Mnhmhmn. I think I have something you'd want."
He goes to his intimidatingly large closet, and sorts through the collection of beastskin robes inside. Finally, he pulls out one that shines like the sun, all green and golden.
"Took this off a demon beast a while back, but it doesn't match my wardrobe. You can have it for the price you asked."
You nod. "It's a deal, Grandfather."
Though your understanding of the style has improved by listening to nature and gathering more Chi to yourself, your imbalance persists, and even worsens. You find yourself wanting to sniff at the air and twitch a nonexistent tail, or to fall to all fours so as to be closer to the ground. Thinking complicated thoughts is a little harder; it feels as if you're fatigued all the time. You keep taking the grave-ash potion monthly; it's long since become a habit.
Then the package comes. Signed simply "K.", and with a note attached saying to open it in your private rooms.
You follow instructions, and are rewarded with a vast golden coat of shimmering fur. You can feel the Life Atma spilling from it from three paces; when you hug it to your face, your hunger stills away completely, the radiant Life Atma surpressing the physical imbalance, though not the mental.
Between this and the Dead Hand, you think, making a few more Charms ought to be trivial.
So you try it. With Death Atma from the Dead Hand and Life Atma from the Goldfur Robe, crafting anything related to either becomes massively easier. While you keep yourself to simple projects, you still manage to make one item of major importance; a training aid for cultivating breath-patterns in the form of a bone whistle. Breathe correctly, and the whistle does not sound. It only makes noise when the breath is out of phase with the Atma engraved on the bone. A simple enough tool, but still an invaluable one.
You smile, and pull your new robe closer. It's something soft in a hard world.
If only you knew who K was.
