Steel and Ambition: No SV, Just Building the Guns Won't Make for a Successful Business. You Need More!

Yeah, I'm liking it, we just havent really got too much into gunsmithing part of the quest yet so not that many discussions to be had. Yet we are also right now in the infrastructure build up to that so it's mostly just a matter of time I reckon. Chracters we've been introduced to also feel right for the period and culture as far as I'm aware.

-[X] What you intend, I can only see at the end of a long, bloody path. But you already know that.
--[x]...If you can give me what I need, I can give you what you need. There is nothing that can guarentee your success, not with such lofty ambitions, but I can certainly give you a fighting chance.
---[x] I do ask however that you listen when I speak of the requirements for the weapons I can craft you. My father was dismissed by the Emperor and his court for declaring replication of the foreigner's weapons impossible at scale with what we had. He died for that dismisal, though not without felling many of his killers first. Now my own current contractors demand I craft a thousand more of Sakamoto-sama's revolver in as little as three years with a pittance of the funding I need, based on estimates they made, when it took me a year to design and craft the one. Forgive me for saying this, but firearms are not spear heads, a simple lump thing to be turned out enmasse. I can give you what you need, but you must be willing to hear my voice if I say it will take longer, or more resources, than you first believe it will.

-[X] In my readings about our nations history, I encountered the concept of Gekokujo, the low overthrows the high. It brought about most of the beginning of most ages of country, for good and for ill. It has brought about visionaries, tyrants, and chaos in equal measure. Gekokujo is inevitable.
-[X] What we can do is to give the people and through them the nation of Japan to seize control of gekokujo, a revolution of not one man or a class of men but of the entire nation to lead themselves forward. The nation shall stand against tyrants of the past, invaders of the present, for a free Japan of the future.
-[X] Give me men, materials, and machinery and I'll hand the power for Japan to seize its own destiny.

You will find out the results of this after the workshop upgrade turn.

Upgrading the Workshop 1 New
Upgrading the Workshop 1:

You looked at the numerous lists that you needed. Pieces of foreign equipment that were up for sale were what you had hoped.

Even if you couldn't get all of them, one piece would be enough to help you with creating weapons, ammunition… and so much more.

The problem was, you didn't have the money to purchase all of them; in fact, you were pretty sure you couldn't even buy more than. And that was going to be incredibly difficult to get, because you were trusting someone you didn't trust…

Someone who understood just what you needed and could extort you.

You had to hope that they were trustworthy enough.

Otherwise, you would not only lose out on a potentially wondrous piece of equipment. You would lose all your money.

Especially since, according to the people you were working on, you were trying to smuggle them into the country. And the smugglers were charging extra because it seems others are trying to do the same.

And the Shogun and the Emperor alike wants to stop it. And killing everyone who tries to bring this equipment to anyone not under their direct control.
--------------------------------------

You have around 95,000 Mon (money was subtracted due to risk)

Here is the Equipment that you have on offer, from the United States, Great Britain, and France:

All Items will come in at the start of the next turn.

[]Water Mill: Provides mechanical power (via water) to drive other machines like lathes, drills, and hammers. (Cost 5,000 Mon) (Provides an additional Workshop Action)

[]Lathe: Shapes metal parts by spinning them against a cutting tool, critical for crafting barrels, bolts, and precision components. (Cost 35,000 Mon) (+1 to quality on Reliability Rolls)

[]Milling Machine: Cuts grooves, slots, and intricate shapes into metal parts. Useful for making complex frames and mechanisms, like percussion and flint locks. (Cost 25,000 Mon) (+1 to Ease of Production Rolls)

[]Drill Press Drills perfect, straight holes into metal for pins, screws, and barrel work, important for precise assembly. (Cost 25,000 Mon) (+1 to quality on Accuracy Rolls)

[]Power Hammer: Delivers heavy, fast blows to shape and forge metal pieces. used for barrel blanks and thick gun parts. (Cost 45,000 Mon) (Use 1 Less Material on mass production rolls)

[] Broaching Machine: Cuts precise internal shapes, such as the rifling grooves inside a gun barrel, and improves shooting accuracy. (Cost 25,000 Mon) (+1 to Accuracy Rolls)

[] Rolling Mills: Flattens and shapes metal into sheets or strips, useful for making gun barrels, springs, and other uniform metal parts. (Cost 85,000 Mon) (+1 to quality on Reliability Rolls and Ease of Production Rolls)

AN: Enjoy and please vote in plan format please.

This is a plan designed to get us the best results for the mass production of weapons we are going to be doing for the foreseeable future.

For a total of 75,000 Mon, leaving us with 20,000 for other needs

Cost of of 85,000 Mon leaving us with 10,000 Mon

Ease of Production is already our highest stat and the Power Hammer material price reduction compounds that. Reliability on the other hand is the lowest, along with our cartridge choice to be paper based all our potential enemies just need to attack in the rain to win. The chance that we can mitigate this disadvantage I think should be taken.

Cost for production of One Daybreak Revolver =1200 Mon.

Wood cost 10 Mon: 10 for the grip = 100 Mon.
Iron cost 50 Mon: 0 = 0 Mon.
Steel cost 100 Mon: 5 for the base cost -3 from Reliability roll +1 for the Standard Barrel +1 for the Six Rounds = 6 Steel = 600 Mon.
High Grade Steel 500 Mon: 1 for the Rifled Barrel = 500 Mon.

Production of the full 1000 batch will cost 1,200,000 Mon in materials alone.

With the Power Hammer (If I am reading it right) would drop the base steel cost by 1 again saving us 100 Mon per unit. Thus costing 1,100 Mon each Revolver, and discounting the Batch to 1,100,000 Mon to complete.

Plus we would need to hire people to run the factory, so we might just want to save our Mon to complete the test batch to showoff to our investors.

Costing 50,000 Mon leaving us with 45,000 Mon or enough to make 40 Daybreak Revolver's.
Or 30 Revolver's with 12,000 left to hire people.

On Mass production, it is actually a bit cheaper in resource cost, as they are of lower quality. (Its more of a gameplay feature to not screw you all and have to spend years gathering resources or buying it and going into debt)

And ease of production buildings also lower the cost of resources used. Which will come into play for making a preexisting design.

However... the exact amount that it costs is unknown to you all, until you attempt to mass produce it, because Miki does not know in universe.
