Starfinder (Worm/Starfinder RPG)

And there's absolutely no way that Dean won't mention this to Dennis and Carlos, who definitely won't remember what John told them about his preferences at Fugly Bob's, right?

On the positive side, maybe Victoria will just think that John is intimidated by Brandish.

If this is how he interacts with attractive women then he's absolutely screwed in five years or so when half of his friends will be supermodels of an age he can get attracted to

Well, her Ultra Karen Personality aside, he has good taste. Carol never came off as some one who was physically unattractive, it's just her sucky personality kills it for a lot of people.

That being said MILF Hunter John has arrived. I can only imagine what he'd think of the other sister now.

Yes.

At least Dean is now happy.
Will he though? Carol is a 15 year older version of his girlfriend. Take it from Dean's perspective John hasn't shown attraction to anyone, his jaw hitting the floor when an aged up version of your girlfriend walks into the room is not a good sign, especially when your relationship with her struggles to last more then a few months at a time before break ups and he's still friends with her despite the pressures you've put on her to disconnect from him.

Bwhahahahahahahahahahahaha

Oh god. The worst possible time for hormones to kick in.

Also. Goddamnit Vicky. This is not how you look after your introverts.

Vicky's mom has got it going on!
Vicky can't you see
You're just not the girl for me
I know it might be wrong but
I'm in love with Vicky's mom

I did not need this song stuck in my head when I'm getting ready to head into work.

Anywho, I'm messed up because part of me was thinking that we know that adultery is acceptable to Carol so I wonder if John is going to, even a little bit, think that he has a chance. While I truly don't want that thought to come up, teenagers are stupid so there's a nonzero chance.

Yeeep. Carol IS a beautiful woman.

But everything else about her is Toxic as Fuck.

That is the problem. She uses it. Like a lot of people do.

Just remember, bro. Carol is the whole reason why the Dallon family is so fucked up.

For real, that's total fanon. Mark's depression, Vicky's power fucking with people and her general recklessness, Amy's weird temptations and code and martyr complex, it does not make for a healthy family. Super Mom might manage all that AND putting food on the table AND handling legal shit for her team, but Carol is as flawed as the rest of the family.

People blame her for her family's craziness like she drove Mark to depression or forced a martyr complex on Amy or made Vicky a brat, but there's no real indication in canon that's true. You could blame Vicky as easily as Carol for all that, in fanon some do.

She's part of the reason for sure, and handled Amy badly, but far from the whole reason her family's messed up.

I was a hormonal fourteen year old, and the first person I had ever met that I had any degree of attraction to was Carol fucking Dallon.
Someone pick up that phone because I fucking called it!

Gerald works in advertising?! Or something? Also lmao John was his first choice before Sophia. Star Finder moves merch! Also it would be even more awkward to ask his gf's daughter for financial help. I'm enjoying every character being a person instead of furniture, and it's incredibly funny that John prefers the latter despite reality contradicting him. It's a good dig at most fanfics doing the same.

Also... John... you aunt cares. Oof. Hard to read that bit.

Thankfully, Merlin's enhancements to my proprioception and reflexes were available, and my hand snapped up to catch the thing with a meaty thwack as it hit my palm.
Casually catching a frisbee with barely a glance is pretty cool. Does anyone even know John has a computer in his head helping him be cooler than he actually is? I know Armsmaster knows about it helping his Tinkering and fighting.

This is whitewashing a problem.

You can't lay the blame for Mark's depression on her. That was caused by his own mind and the parasite in his head and more.

You can't blame Vicky because with everything she ended up doing that was wrong, the fault lies with her parent. The one who encouraged her, trained her, and gave her free reign.

Further, canon is written from the perspective of Unreliable Narrator. From the mind of her daughter in terms of Ward. Expecting ANYTHING said in it about stuff close to the heart like the problems Carol caused is the blindness of a child to her parent.

Looking outside the box, and looking from the events as a whole as written, it shows Carol to be a toxic personality type from deep seeded emotional trauma she refused to receive treatment for. And being kidnapped as a teenager and made to grow up with Parahuman issues alone was enough to exacerbate it.

Carol's neglect causing the emotional instability in Vicky strong enough to cause her Trigger event after being fouled in a basketball game. Because she, once again, was a disappointment to the mother she desperately wanted to make proud of her.

Carol's abusive relationship as a whole with Amy. And not even going to go into detail because the Dallon family is one of the touchiest subjects in all of Worm because of how BADLY Wildbow wrote it.

Carol's neglect of her husband to the point where she was not getting him the help he needs. Because he was safe if he was just a depressed lump.

Carol is a bag of neurosis in the body of an attractive lady.

Further, there is the very fact that she is the Adult. And she failed so badly at raising two children it caused all the bullshit in canon.

Parents are responsible for their children. And blaming the children for their failings when they are children when the parents failed to help correct and guide the issue and, in fact, caused a majority of the issues is nothing but whitewashing and shifting blame.

Calling it 'fanon' and dismissing it out of hand because its someone's opinion of a badly written, toxic household in a story that had so many issues it has black holes for plotholes.

In the end, Carol Dallon is a broken doll that never got better. And everything about the actions of canon agrees with that.

Ah yes, the classic 0 to 100% when someone deeply introverted first meets someone who hits all their buttons, I hate it. Would he react to Cristal?
... I give it a chance, the author made Sophia date Dennis, why not?
Because John is 14 and Crystal is 18-19? While she might be old enough for him, he's way too young for her. There's not really anyone he knows who's right to start a relationship with. Maybe Vicky or Amy in 2 years when they're 18 and he's 16. But that's about it.

Yeah I think romance is going to be this "Oh shit, oh fuck. Can't date people my age" for a long ass time until either John is older(like 19ish) or until he gets over his very legitimate hangups about being a 20-30 something man in a teens body...clearly the former is more likely than the latter

I feel for this guy, this is why I hate other people, especially, social teenager girls. Fucking lying to people and playing games to "make them hang out". Like I'm fine by myself why you pushy.
