Post with X-es

[X] Go start trying to find out where :Mother's: body is.
-[X] Talk to the hosts of dead shards. Just because they're human doesn't mean they can't make themselves useful. (Harvest is too talky and behaving like she is queen. Talk to Transfer and Charge hosts first. And every other host, frankly.

It is very funny. Looking forward to QA absorbing all the case 53's.

Also I want to see Amy's reaction to Harvester being dropped on her.

Reboot?
As of a few weeks ago, I officially bit the bullet on my profile and declared this "dead." We'd basically reached the end, I felt like I was dragging it past its optimal lifespan, and the last parts were both too serious and high-effort for the muse slots this is supposed to occupy. One of those, OK. All of the above? Didn't really work and each update was harder than the last.

However, as the slots in question remain unfilled and I've basically been spinning my wheels whenever something strengthens them, I've been entertaining the idea of rebooting this for about half a year. I've given it a lot of thought, made new notes, a new power options list, etc., and ultimately decided it's something I can do. I'll make a new thread called "Sanctioned" and link to it here afterward if it's something enough people are interested in.

A few examples of power options can be found in the quote box below. I do already have a much larger list, fear not, but I'm still working on some balance tweaks. Suggestions for potential powers may be incorporated, but probably won't be; if you still want to suggest some despite that warning, feel free to do so.

Host gains powers based on what type of head covering she is wearing. Only one hat, helmet, hood, or similar covering can empower you her at a time. This is just temporary, really! You can fix her, you're sure. It just might take a long, long time.

You can create cyoot wittle avataws of death and destruction, They Who Deal With Irritants.
-[] Borrowed Features for Wonderful Creatures (-1 Point)
Other Shards can share a small aspect of their functionality if they so choose. You'll probably need to help them out first. You can subsequently upgrade your Friends with whatever you've been given.

TL;DR...
Victory Reached.
Start New Game?

...Err, just to be sure that I don't embarrass myself, you are really asking if we want a new quest, right?

Yep, that's a genuine question. I've seen plenty of reboots nobody really cared about and would rather not go down that path. It has been over two years since this was active. ^^;

YES! THIS WAS THE THING THAT GOT ME INTERESTED IN ALIVARIL QUESTS IN THE FIRST PLACE! (even though it was already long dead)

YES LET'S DO THIS!!!

What really drew me in was the thought of QA acting human, basically. The Apex of shard influenced by surroundings. Everything else, power and Taylor's unfortunate sacrifice to make it happen, mattered only to an extent, and I liked the way you did it. So, either way, youdy have me if you reboot this quest.

I don't think that it will really work without QA being so wonderfully over powered.

It wouldn't be the same, true, but the goal is to be different. And there are powers on the list you could take to help with consequence-free shenanigans.

While Host's body sleeps, she can deploy an extension to explore the outside world. Extensions may use Host's powers while deployed, although normal usage limits (if any) apply. Really, you're having trouble thinking of a good reason Host shouldn't always stay home and send extensions in her own place. The only thing they can't do better is eat.

Extensions appear as a Host-shaped outline made of (relatively weak) silver defensive barriers. If one of the shields is broken, the entire extension will be disrupted. You'd subsequently have to redeploy it from Host's body.

The extension does technically have a maximum range, but you'd have to exit the planet entirely and then some. A bigger concern would be alternate universes. You can maintain a connection to an extension in another universe, but only so long as a third-party portal connects the two. Your extension will pop should any such portals be closed.

Host (and by extension, you) loses the ability to use her powers while conscious. To compensate, Host can fall asleep at will and never needs to awaken. She could if she still wanted to.

Picking a word at random to attract attention and that seemed perfect: when the thread goes live, will we have all these options plastered on the first post for easy choosing? That'd be wonderful.

Of course? Just like chargen for this quest. It'd be weird and unreasonably painful if you had to go out and hunt down the potential options. o_O

sure d00d

I haven't read much of your quests lately—especially when Ignition got so unwieldy and focused on 'gotta catch 'em all'—and part of that is dissatisfaction with your writing (it's really wooden). But at least for stuff like Splintered, it works because of the absurdity of the situation, and not because of the quality of the prose.
