"Called it." Sayaka replied smugly.
"What?" Madoka looked incredulously at her semi-aquatic friend. She had just finished explaining the last few days to Sayaka, everything from the statue to all the weird happenings with Ammy.
"Yeah, I said she was a spirit yesterday. And I was right!" Sayaka pumped her fist with a cheer, while wolf and owner both sighed.
At least she isn't panicking anymore.
"Soooooo...you think Ammy suddenly changing is related to well... this?" Sayaka suddenly asked, thumping her tail against her bed for emphasis.
"I don't know for certain… but it must be. I just don't understand why. Why did everything happen today?" Madoka pondered outloud.
"Maybe it was like some cosmic alignment or something?" Sayaka offered. "Or maybe like a prophecy that was like 'on a Tuesday after a pink-haired girl gives a wolf snausages it becomes a badass shiny spirit thingy."
A curious whine came from Ammy at the word "
Snausages."
"Oh uh Ammy… they're a dog treat that's basically a cheese wrapped sausage. " Madoka explained.
Ammy's eyes widened to incredible levels as her jaw slowly lowered. A look of pure joy passed across the wolf's visage, the same expression a parent would have upon holding their newborn child. Tears flowed freely from her eyes as the wolf comprehended this incredible revelation, only matched by the drool pooling at her feet. Her tail swishing back and forth with such intensity it was a blur. A light shown in through the windows, illuminating Ammy as flower petals drifted lazily into the bedroom.
On this day Ammy the wolf knew for certain, despite all the troubles they faced. Despite how they stumbled from time to time humans were truly capable of creating things more beautiful than any god could manage. And this revelation filled her with hope and determination. Nothing, not even the personification of evil itself could possibly shatter thi-
"Aren't Snausages really unhealthy for dogs? She's pudgy enough as is."
"Yeah I guess you're right, we really do need to watch Ammy's diet. She doesn't exercise much at all..."
The tears coming from Ammy's eyes were no longer those of joy.
"...Do you think she's upset we talked about her weight problem?" Madoka asked, pointing at the wolf who had placed herself in front of Sayaka's mirror, an almost literal cloud of despair emanating from her.
"Nah. She's fine."
"A-anyways Sayaka, I-I think we'll have to take you to my home. You can't stay here alone." Madoka said, her stomach twisting into knots as the unfortunate reality of their situation finally settled on her.
"Y-yeah… I-I guess I can't e-even take care of myself anymore." Sayaka said shakily, staring at her hands.
"I-I'm sure we'll find a way to change you back Sayaka!"
"A-and I guess have to r-rely on other's to just do basic tasks…" She sniffed.
"Sayaka…"
"A-a-a-and eating seafood is c-cannibalism now r-right?"
"I-I'm pretty sure you can still eat fish Sayaka,"
"A-and...And I guess I have to switch from t-track to the s-s-swimming club n-now, right Madoka?" Tears were flowing freely now from Sayaka, her hair dripping in turn.
"Umm.."
"A-and… A-a-a-and…"
"...Sayaka?"
Sayaka suddenly started bawling, her hair suddenly turning into a waterfall that soaked her bed and Madoka "KYOUSUKE'S GONNA THINK I'M A FREEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAA-" *SMACK*
"..."
"..."
"...."
"..."
"......."
"................Did I just get slapped in the face by a wolf spirit?" Sayaka asked, rubbing her cheek.
"Uhhhhmmm…" Her friend tried to answer, at a loss for words.
"BARK!" Was Ammy's answer.
"You know what, I'm repressing that. Guess we should start… packing I guess." Sayaka gloomily stated.
"How are we going to carry all your stuff out, I only have my school bag with me." Madoka asked "We're also going to need to dry everything."
"Hmm, maybe we can find some garbage baRGHABLARGLE!" Sayaka suddenly shouted as a swift wind suddenly ripped through her room, impossibly drying up all the water while knocking over the two girls and every loose object Sayaka hadn't already.
The flower petals covering everything did at least brighten the place up.
"BARK!" Ammy stated happily.
"W-well I guess that solves the water problem." Madoka said as she disentangled herself from the floundering mermaid.
"Could have done without the tornado though!" Was Sayaka's grumpy reply.
"W-well, now we just need to pack up all your stuff."
Ammy however seemed to have a solution in mind as she picked up some of Sayaka's shirts.
"Ammy look, I know you want to help but getting wolf slobber all over them isn't exactly-WHOA!" Sayaka exclaimed suddenly as the wolf impossibly pocketed the shirts.
"H-how… what did she...?" Madoka asked.
Suddenly the wolf reached into her side and pulled out those shirts, they bounced toward Sayaka in a bubble of light before it popped, causing them to land in her lap in a neat pile. Warm to the touch like they had been just pulled out from the dryer the shirts had somehow been cleaned, folded and smelled vaguely of flowers.
"...Madoka?"
"Yes Sayaka?"
"Ammy is the best wolf ever."
What followed was the strangest packing session Madoka had ever been involved in her life. Ammy it seemed had no limit to the items she could pocket and didn't even need to physically "pocket" them in order to store them, as they had found out mid-way through when Sayaka had thrown a bundle of socks at Ammy. That had rapidly evolved into a game of catch as both Madoka and Sayaka tossed objects at Ammy, the wolf leaping at them and causing them to vanish when they touched her. However as always Sayaka seemed to take it a little overboard.
"Hey can you pocket my bed Ammy?"
"Sayaka we have spare bed- O-oh nevermind then." Madoka said quietly as Sayaka's bed vanished into Ammy's dimensional pocket.
"LETS DO THE FRIDGE NEXT!"
"The fridge…? Why would you need too…"
"Duh Madoka, the food will go bad otherwise." Sayaka answered as if it was the most obvious answer in the world.
There was a slight delay as Sayaka tried to drag herself to the kitchen before Ammy tossed her onto the wolf's back but eventually they made it.
Opening the fridge Sayaka examined its contents. "You can keep all this from spoiling, right?" The wolf nodded her head. "And you aren't going to eat it when I'm not looking, right?" The wolf didn't respond. "Ammy…" Begrudgingly Ammy nodded.
"ALRIGHT, LETS DO THIS!" Sayaka exclaimed as she started to shovel food into the wolf.
Madoka though could only sigh, slightly relieved.
Well, at least Sayaka is currently back to her old self. She thought. Hopefully Ammy would continue to work her magic and keep Sayaka smiling through this difficult time. But how was she going to explain this to her parents? Actually, that raised a bigger question…
"Um, how are we going to get to my house?" Madoka asked, wondering if they should call up her parents.
"Easy Madoka, we'll just do what you did to get here!" Sayaka stated, smiling at her.
"Uuuuh.." Madoka gulped; she wasn't sure she liked this plan.
"It'll be fine! Right Ammy?"
"BARK!"
"See?"
A few moments later they were outside Sayaka's apartment, Madoka locking Sayaka's door before clambering onto the wolf behind the mermaid.
"Okay, just go as fast as possi-"
"Wait, s-shouldn't we try to be safe?" Madoka asked.
"Hmm, good point Madoka. Ammy, have a solution?"
Ammy answered with an affirmative bark before vines suddenly wrapped themselves around the girls, tying them to the wolf.
"See? What'd I tell you. You have the best wolf ever."
"I-I'm still not sure on this. Maybe we should wal- Ammy?" Madoka stopped suddenly as she felt the wolf tense. Ammy was looking to their right; she was staring straight into a wall, and yet Madoka was certain she was seeing something far beyond it. A growl issued from Ammy's throat as her lips peeled back, revealing far-too-sharp teeth.
"Ammy, what's wrong?" Madoka asked, concern filling her voice as she rubbed the wolf's side. She had never heard Ammy growl before.
"W-wow, Ammy. N-not the time to r-remind us you're a giant wolAAAAAAAAAH" Sayaka screamed as both girls were suddenly made aware of a very important fact.
Ammy had been holding back when she carried Madoka.
"I REGRET THIS IMMENSEEEEEEEEELLLLLYYYYY!" Sayaka screamed into Ammy's neck as she tore across the city, leaping from building to building, flying up walls and using vines that emerged from nowhere to pull herself forward at even faster speeds.
Straight to Mitakihara's Downtown Mall.
