Speaking of Divine Intervention... (PMMM/Okami)

Another thing to consider: Ami was already a god.

Now she's a reawakened god as the magic comes back, FULLY ARMED AND OPERATIONAL FROM THE FULL KARMIC DESTINY OF TO-BE GOD-OKA.

It'd be like mainlining the full reactor output of several G-class stars and the Death Star II main reactor.

The problem is that the dangers of the Incubators and the Witches aren't a threat that Ammy can really stop. Sure she can defeat witches and fry incubators (maybe purify the gems as well) but that's just bailing out a leaky boat. I suspect that we'll still have Godoka in the end, just with a mentor.

Agreed.

As wonderful as Okami is, and as much as Ammy is the Best Thing Ever....the gods aren't going to solve everything on their own. I don't think it's explicit in the game that the gods and magic are going to go away, but the trend certainly seems to be so. As technology (and by association, Yami) rises, Amaterasu and the rest of the gods seem to wane. Or the people just aren't as devout.

Yeah, things seem to be improving some in Okamiden, but to be honest while that game was alright, it doesn't really do Okami full justice, so I tend to judge by the original game. Mostly.

I mean sure, maybe if the gods start getting all prayer and praise, maybe they'd be able to keep things running indefinitely. If the people can keep that reverence going. And the evil gods and demons don't kill everyone, including the gods and Celestials, which has come preeeeeeeetty close to happening.

I'm kind of anticipating and dreading the encounter between Ammy and Kyubey at the same time. Because as much as it'd be nice for Ammy to take Kyubey down a peg, Kyubey can claim that its methods are superior. Amaterasu can't even keep up with a single world/country, as seen by her being a statue up until now, how is she supposed to protect an entire universe from the end?

I suppose ultimately it'll come down to the author deciding whether idealism or cynicism prevails and which white animal's methods prevail; I do kind of expect Ammy and Madoka to come out on top here, eventually. But....Kyubey's probably gonna have some good points.

And when you get right down to it? Not everyone lives happily ever after in Okami, and sometimes people are sacrificed. Ammy may do her best to make the world a better place, but she doesn't win every battle.

Besides, while I despise Rebellion, it's unfortunately canon and proves that Kyubey's whole rhetoric on "this is the best possible solution; it's a necessary evil" is bullshit, because when the Incubators learn about Madoka's existence they instantly start planning to wrest control over the system from Madoka. They have to be in charge.

Technically, it only proves that they value efficiency over all else. It does likely mean that the ethics Kyubey mentioned only exist because any system less ethical would result in lower yield (my headcanon is that the black death resulted from experimenting with such a system).

Technically, I would say he does because he lies by omission, not telling them all about the entire soul gem and witches things until they find out themselves or ask outright.
He lies like the Devil lies, with omission and warped truth. Think about it when's the last time you saw a depiction of the Devil where he just says something outright false rather than true, but deceptive?

His very first lie. Genesis 3:1-4
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"
4 "You will not certainly die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
I may be an atheist, but I grew up protestant. I know this shit.

Can't get any closer than canon.

Bingo. The snake was technically telling the truth if you look at the exact words.

The act of eating the fruit of knowledge itself would not be lethal in any way.
He just didn't mention that there would/could be lethal consequences when the act of eating the fruit was discovered.

So you admit that upon eating the fruit they would die.

"Darth Vader betrayed and murdered your father."

And how is Homura going to take Ammy's presence?
Well I guess it isn't spoilers if I say this but one has to remember that despite Homura being this outwardly:

She has never, ever EVER:

Remember, Homura as the cold tough as nails time traveler is fanon. Case in point, rewatch the first episode. Those awkward pauses aren't because she's trying to appear cool. She is just that bad at social. She's the type of person to rehearse every conversation beforehand and sticks to script even when her guesses prove horribly off. And as we saw, this comes back to bite her constantly.

Now as to what will happen when you take that and throw in Ammy? Well...

Spoilers. :V

But suffice to say, Homura is all talk she built herself up as and will constantly make things worse until she realizes it.

'Specially 'cause:

"But... but... WOLF! BIG! FLUFFY! HOW NOT SEE! EX-PLAIN! EX-PLAIN!" *smoke rises out of ears while everyone talks about how cute and normal a doggie Ammy is.

Or alternatively: she is white! White things have huge guts are incubators! EXPLODE AND INCINERATE!!!!
