Silver Eyed Mistress of the Night Sky (RWBY/MGLN)

Yes, Nanoha Mana is just energy, that can be changed into a different form of energy by a Linker core.
If it is a capability versus efficiency can be discussed till the sun goes out.

You know, with exception of Hayate, who just casts copied spells, we never see any character cast spells of different elements than their usual.
At best, someone can cast an elemental spell they usually can't by using a specialised Device. (Chrono using Durandal to cast Eternal Coffin, his attempt to seal the Book of Darkness)
So it is still not know if you need the proper Mana Conversion Affinity to convert mana into an element period, or if it just isn't worth the effort to do it the hard way.
No this is not something that is in dispute we have statements in the databooks that it's a learnable skill you don't need specialized devices to do mana conversion.

We also see Vita use flame conversion with her flammeschlag spell And Teana does electricity conversion for her stun bullets in strikers soundstage X.

And the reason you don't see people use different mana conversion from what they usually use is pretty much even directly stated to be because of efficiency in the second databook entry i quoted below

Eternal Coffin
Freezing magic set in Durandal. By forcing the temperature in the area to extremely low levels, the purpose of this spell is not to cause death in any targets, but to freeze them completely. As one can tell from the name "Eternal Coffin", when used on a normal living being, the target becomes frozen in a sleep-like state, until the freezing is counteracted by physical means (destruction, heat, etc).
Originally an advanced Over-S Rank spell, but because Durandal was tuned to specialize in freezing magic, and because Chrono himself had also easily handled the study and training for temperature manipulation and Mana conversion, Eternal Coffin was activated in its complete form.

Note transformation is reffering to mana conversion in the below entry.
Mana conversion
Very rarely, there are magicians who can transform magical energy unconsciously. These magicians are generally not good at "extracting large amounts of pure magical energy". It seems that releasing pure magical energy often requires the same amount of resources as normal magic requires for energy transformation, or even more. Among those with transformation qualities, there are relatively many who possess the qualities of "fire" and "electricity", while "freeze" is rare. By learning magic that matches their transformation qualities, these magicians can learn magic efficiently and improve the effects of their magic.

Mana conversion strikers
Among mages, there are rare cases where individuals possess an innate ability, called a [Mana Conversion Affinity], which allows them to naturally convert Mana directly into a physical energy. What normally requires regulation via Magic, these abilities allow conversion to occur spontaneously. It becomes simple to convert one's own Mana into energy, and when Mana is converted intentionally, this can even occur at high efficiency. An individual can only have one type of affinity. Among Riot 6 members, Fate and Erio have an [electricity]-type affinity, while Signum has a [flame]-type affinity.

Note the bit about only being able to have one conversion affinity was retconned in Vivid with Rio having two./QUOTE]

Magical Qualities
The amount of magical power that can be released in an instant is called the "instantaneous maximum output," the ability to control and maintain the released magical power is called the "control ability," and the efficiency of converting magical power into a specific energy is called the "conversion efficiency." Excellent magicians have high values in all of these. There are various forms of release, and there are large individual differences depending on the talent and each technique.

Stun Bullet (Didc2 Track 13)
Stun bullets are commonly used by many agents, but Tiana's is an original that she improved herself. It has a high knockdown and incapacitation effect due to the impact effect and nerve stimulation by high voltage.

does CREATING Iron balls from thin air count as 'Impossible' with Dust? Or can you do that with Dust somehow?
Creating objects out of thin air is a possibility. Iron balls really depends on how Earth Dust works.

Weiss is gonna learn her lesson quickly, she's just the one who 1) wasn't in the know and 2) doesn't have other questions to ask.

This was discussed on Spacebattles (to people saying it's OOC, but let's see people's opinions here), but the magic thing is kinda the straw that broke the camels back for Weiss. She was already unhappy to have a disabled team leader (which my friend group basically agreed Weiss would be discriminatory towards), but now she's trying to pedal that magic is real and Nicholas was really close to figuring it out.

Blake's clones, under the effects of Earth Dust become solid statues. I would imagine if a person has enough Aura Control they could create balls of metal or rock.

Something I am curious about.

If Ozpin fought Signum, no spells, no transforming weapons, just pure fighting skill, who would come out on top?

It would be close...but I think Oz would pull a nigh pyric victory. A large amount of Signum's power is locked behind her spells, after all.

I am not the author, however, and they get final say.

Ozpin would win. Though as Otritzi said, you're severely hampering Signum's effectiveness out of the gate. More so because Oz would still have access to Aura while she doesn't.

I love Yang, but at series start she's a blunt force object. Tai calls her out on it in Volume 4. To Yang, the answer if "hit it" didn't work is "hit it harder". Even more, a shield spell would be detrimental to her fighting style at series start, since her entire fighting style revolves around taking hits to amp up Burn.

So yeah, Yang gave a token effort to learn Strike Arts, but quickly gave up to go back to training what she feels she's good at.
So, can Wolkenritter make prothesis-like Device? Because this sounds like Yang getting prothesis-like Device.

Chapter 8 New
Jaune watched Signum walk out of the arena, the girl with the cane hopping up and giving her a one arm hug that Signum returned with both arms, having returned to her original outfit. How did they do that?

"Are you alright?" Jaune asked Pyrrha as she climbed the steps, a smile on her face.

"Yes!" Pyrrha said, sounding incredibly chipper for someone who had just lost a fight.

Goodwitch coughed, and said, "Next up is Ruby Rose vs-"

"Professor," Snow Angel said, "please let me fight."

What?

"I don't normally let students on the same team fight…". Professor Goodwitch said, "but I get the feeling this fight will happen either way. Very well."

Weiss watched Ruby undergo the transformation into a silver haired girl with wings again, watching her walk into the arena unaided with the staff and the book. Entering a neutral but ready state, Weiss stared at her team leader who stood just as casually.

"Begin!" Weiss rushed forwards as the word came out, only to slam into a far more intricately designed glyph than her own. A second, smaller one appeared as Ruby spoke.

"Brionac," a dagger of light flew at Weiss, forcing her to dodge, the hair on the back of her head stood up, and Weiss dove to the side just in time to dodge the dagger again, which flipped in air and aimed at her throat. Weiss formed a Glyph, firing a bolt of ice that smashed against the dagger, shattering them both.

It was then Weiss realized she had lost track of Ruby. Looking around wildly, she couldn't find her anywhere until there was a rustle of clothing and she looked up just in time to dodge a scythe blade made of pure energy.

"Frierenfesseln!" Ruby said and water began to spin around Weiss quickly, before freezing into a sheet of ice holding her in place. Ruby rose into the air, lifting her staff into the air and staring down Weiss, "Slip, and let all burst to flames! Svalinn!"

A torrent of fire flew down, forcing Weiss to form a glyph to protect herself. Then, through the flames came Ruby's voice again, "Strike True And End Their Life, Gungnir!"

A beam of light, thin as a needle and glowing bright, shot through Weiss's glyph and into her gut.

"A… Aura in Red?" Professor Goodwitch said, sounding confused, "Winner is Ruby Rose?"

Blake stepped into the Wolkenritter's room, looking around. Signum and Reinforce were nowhere to be seen, while Vita was checking a set of croquet hammers. Hefting them onto her shoulder, Vita blinked as she noticed Blake, "Oh, you're here for your check up with Shamal?"

Blake nodded reluctantly, "Where is she?"

"She should be here in a couple of minutes, she was checking out the Beacon medical wing," Vita said, walking past Blake, "anyways, I got a croquet club meeting I have to get to. Good seeing you or whatever."

"You play croquet?" Blake asked.

"Isn't that what I just said?"

"Sorry, you just… You don't seem the type."

"How would you know what type of person I am? We don't know each other," Vita gruffed, before knocking on Team RWBY's door, "Ruby, I'm heading out!"

"Ok, have fun!" Ruby's voice came from the other side of the doorway, and Vita set off down the hallway.

Blake sat in the room for almost ten minutes before Shamal entered, locking the door behind her. She sat on a chair, before casually asking, "Are there any special needs you need be seen too, as a Faunus?"

Blake locked up, ready to run, "How-?"

"Klarwind picks up details like that. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone, patient and doctor confidentiality is something I believe in. I won't even ask why you're hiding it."

"Thank you, and no, no special needs othed than loud noises being particularly painful."

"Noted," Shamal said, "Now, let me run through the various basics, blood type, pressure, oxygen levels."
