Silver Eyed Mistress of the Night Sky (RWBY/MGLN)

Wow...I'm guessing this was copied and pasted from another site, hence the large spaces between paragraphs.

Can't wait to see how much Jaune shapes up when he's given some actual spells to channel his Aura into. He should be able to pull off a pretty impressive Breaker.

"Most who land in that circumstance drop out before the year is done," Goodwitch explained, "they can't handle the strain of trying to keep up with someone so much better than them that they burn out and drop out."

That would explain why Jaune got in in the first place. but that begs the question How many fools died because of this ruling over the years? They tried to pull the wool over the teachers eyes and probably signed a waiver of sorts, so their family can't sue for wrongful death...

Jaune If ("if" he says like it isn't obvious he is) he learns magic, would learn Balkan magic, which doesn't really do Buster spells.

Remnant is a death world. Occasionally you need to weed out the fool who thinks they know better.

Chapter 5
Hazel stepped into the police office with Tyrian, frowning as the crazed faunus chuckled. He knew trusting that girl would only cause problems, and now they had to do this because she was essential to Salem's plans.

"Can we help you?" The receptionist at the police station said, only for Tyrian's stingsr to lunge out and impale her through the chest. Hazel sucked on his teeth, knowing they had to leave no witnesses. Watts had already hacked the cameras so nobody would know what happened until it was too late.

Walking into the main office, he grabbed a police officer by the neck and snapped it just before the bullets started to hail towards him. As he absorbed them, he pulled out a pair of lightning Dust crystals and embedded them in his arms. He felt his muscles bulk up as he grabbed a desk and threw it, crushing several police officers in a splatter of gore.

Tyrian rushed in then, a whirlwind of blades and tail, killing officers right, left and center. Hazel walked through the chaos, killing an officer when he had to, before reaching the holding cells. The girl was sitting there, apparently strewing in her anger, "Real mess you got in here, Cinder."

Cinder looked up, startled, as Hazel tore the door off its hinges. Grabbing the cuffs, he snapped them just as easily.

"Torchwick," Cinder said, "free him, I need him for my plans."

Well, it was either rescue him or kill him…

Hazel freed the thief, who had several bruises on his face, and walked out with the two of them.

The office was a mess, blood and gore splattered the walls as Tyrian sat on a desk giggling to himself. Hazel heard Torchwick utter a quiet "What the fuck?"

The drive to the warehouse they had set up as a base of operations was awkward. Cinder didn't seem to want to look at either of her saviors, didn't want to thank them, didn't want to acknowledge the embarrassment of being freed by them.

Once they arrived, Hazel dismissed Torchwick, who gladly slunk off into the night, and brought Cinder in to face the floating Seer. The mist within it cleared to show Salem's face, and she said, gravely, "Explain."

Hazel watched Cinder swallow as he backed out of the room. He didn't envy the young Maiden. Salem couldn't kill her, but there were fates worse than death.

Vita watched as Signum touched the Scroll they'd been given to the sensor next to the door, which unlocked with a click. Opening it, they found four beds with red comforters, an AC system, and enough space to decorate it sparsely. Chucking Zafaria's stuff into the corner, Vita dropped her bag onto her bed and unzipped it. Pulling out her bunny plush, she changed into her pajamas and walked across the hall, knocking on the door.

The black haired girl, Blake, opened it, wearing a yukata. Vita pushed her aside easily and walked into the room, "What are you-?"

"Hey, Vita," Ruby said, smiling at her, "Your turn to stay with me?"

"Yeah," Vita said, climbing into the bed and snuggling into Ruby's arms. She was the only one who could cuddle with Ruby like this. Everyone else had to cuddle Ruby instead of being cuddled by her.

She cherished it.

Ignoring the looks from the others, except Yang, they slid down into bed and quickly drifted to sleep with Zafaria at their feet.

Blake was sitting on her bed, pretending to read from her book while actually staring at the giant wolf curled up at the foot of Ruby's bed. Ruby was sitting there, running a hand through his hair

"Are you sure it's safe to have that in here?" Blake finally asked.

"Zafaria would never hurt anyone who didn't try to hurt me!" Ruby said, voice full of confidence and indignation in equal measure.

"He's slept there since Ruby was five," Yang said, "it'll be fine."

Well, considering she wasn't going to try and sway Weiss Schnee to her side, she guessed she was out voted on getting rid of the canid in the room.

A knock came from the door, and Blake, being the closest, opened it. Standing in the doorway was the short girl that had come to Beacon with Ruby and Yang, wearing a pair of pink and white pajamas and clutching a white bunny plush. Blake blinked, "What are you-"

The girl shoved Blake to the side, causing her to stagger, and walked into the room without so much as an invitation.

"Hey, Vita," Ruby said, a smile on her face, "your turn to stay with me?"

"Yeah," Blake watched Ruby spread her arms, letting Vita climb into them before sliding down and pulling the comforter over them. After only a few minutes they were both comfortably asleep, and Blake turned towards Yang.

"What is up with your sister? Why's she have these bodyguards?"

"It has to do with…" Yang stopped and looked at Zafaria, who seemed to shrug as much as a wolf could, "Alright, this is gonna sound crazy, but it has to do with magic."

"Magic?" Weiss said incredulously.

"Yeah, I know, sounds crazy. But when our- Ruby's mom left on a mission, she apparently left behind a book of actual, honest to God magic. Called the Tome of the Night Sky, and it summoned the Wolkenritter to protect her. I know it sounds insane, but… Zafaria, help me out, man?"

Before they could say anything, the wolf morphed, transforming into a dark skinned man with gray hair and blue and white wolf ears and a tail. Weiss yelped, and Blake leapt back.

"Hello," he said, politely.

"You're a Faunus?" Blake asked.

"No, I am a wolf," Zafaria denied, "I'm what's known as a Guardian Beast, an animal granted sentience and the ability to take a human form to protect someone. I am one of the Wolkenritter, Zafaria, the Shielding Guardian Beast. It is my duty to protect Ruby. Let's all keep quiet so we don't wake her up."

"That's… That's ridiculous!" Weiss hissed, "How do you- what are you- you're a Faunus, don't lie!"

"I am no such thing," Zafaria said, "though I don't blame you for believing otherwise. Guardian Beasts seem to be non-existent on Remnant."

The Tome and it's guards are going to be a *trip* for Weiss. She's going to have so much of her world view shattered and reforged by just the existence of that book shaped thing.

I'm honestly hoping for a curb stomp of Cinder and Co so we can continue with good ol Nanoha fluff♥️
Also more Rein plz

You kbow, I'm glad, nobody's complaining about Yang telling Weiss and Blake about magic.

They're mostly gonna be restricted to the background, occasionally popping up to remind people they're moving in the background and such.

This was just to confirm Cinder and Roman are free again.

The Tome and it's guards are going to be a *trip* for Weiss. She's going to have so much of her world view shattered and reforged by just the existence of that book shaped thing.
Oh, yeah, magic, dimensional travel, a walking artillery barrage for a partner. It's enough to drive her wild.

I have always viewed Roman as being like King Bulblin from TLoZ: Twilight Princess, someone who follows whoever has the biggest beat stick.

A few displays of firepower from Ruby, and I think he and Neo will flip.
Roman Holiday makes it clear that Roman's only loyalty to himself, and that he hates being forced into allegiance to anyone else. He'd honestly be more likely to abandon Vale for Vacuo than flip sides. But that's also assuming Cinder didn't send people to kill him for betraying her.

Roman is essentially a bad person stuck in a worse scenario. He has no way out. He's Persona Non Grata in Mistral, he's a glorified servant in Vale, and if he leaves he's likely to die.

Chapter 6
Weiss stared at the wolf man in front of her, eyes slightly bugging out. He was… There was… "You can't expect us to really believe in magic!"

Zafira shrugged, "it's the truth, whether you believe it or not isn't up to me. And it doesn't matter either. We told you because you're going to be on a team with Ruby for the next four years, that's all."

And with that, Zafira turned back into a wolf and settled at the bottom of the bed.

Blake woke up, mind buzzing as she did. Sitting up, she smelled bacon on the air. Looking over, she noticed both Yang and Ruby were gone from the room. Climbing out of bed herself, she changed into her school uniform and made her way out into the communal living area for first years.

Ruby's bodyguards, the Wolkenritter, Blake corrected herself mentally, wondering what that meant exactly, sat around an open Scroll, discussing security. Meanwhile Ruby was humming to herself at the stove, cooking waffles, eggs and bacon.

The blue-grey eyes of the pink haired Wolkenritter flickered towards Blake, and she pushed herself out of the chair and walked towards the Faunus in disguise, "We didn't get a chsnce to introduce ourselves. I am Signum. You know Vita from last night's guard duty-" guard duty, yeah, that's what they were calling it. Signum continued, gesturing to a blonde nursing a cup of coffee, "This is Shamal, as a subordinate under Ruby, you will have access to her medical skills until such a time comes where that arrangement no longer exists. And finally, Reinforce."

The gray haired, red eyed woman bowed her head as Ruby slid a plate under her nose, "It's a pleasure, Blake. I hope we get along well."

"As for me, Blake," Shamal, the blonde, said, "I might take you aside later to ask you some questions about your medical history. Allergens, vaccinations, things like that."

"What are you waiting for?" Vita asked, the diminutive girl staring at Blake, "Ruby's cooking breakfast, go grab Schnee and get her out here."

Blake blinked, before deciding it was best to listen to her. Going back to their room, she shook Weiss awake, probably a bit harder than she had to, and said, "Ruby's cooking breakfast, they want us out there."

Weiss immediately lept up, marching towards the door and throwing it open without bothering to change.

Sounds like Schnee is coming, Signum nodded at Vita's voice in her head. The Knight of the Sword stood up, silently wondering if she would even finish breakfast before classes started for the day, and offered an apologetic smile to Ruby, who was pouting at her over her waffles stacked high with strawberries and whipped cream.

Walking towards the approaching footsteps, Signum set herself in their path, feeling fingers dig into her sternum and trying to move her to no avail, "Good morning Weiss. May I help you?"

"I want answers about what's really going on from Ruby," Weiss snapped.

"I believe Zafira informed you of all the pertinent information last night."

"There is no such thing as magic!"

"There is," Signum said, "from what I recall, you were there to see Shamal cast a spell in front of you."

"That was… That had to be her Semblance!"

"We don't use that particular technique," Signum said politely, "compared to the spells we can cast, we never saw the point in learning it, if we even can."

"If you can?" Blake asked.

"We aren't from Remnant. It is naturally questionable if we can use a Remnantian magical technique.

"The food's getting cold," Ruby whined from the table.

"True," Signum said, turning and sitting back at her seat, "we can discuss this over a meal. Come and sit down."

Weiss did so, sitting across from Signum but refusing to take any of the food, "If magic supposedly exists, why has nobody on Remnant discovered it before?"

"Magic isn't easy, it isn't what you see in the storybooks," Signum explained, "it's highly advanced calculations run through the Linker Core to gain power to effect reality."

"Linker Core?" Blake asked.

"What you would call a person's "soul", for the sake of Aura," Shamal pitched in.

"Your grandfather was actually really close," Ruby added, "he probably would have caused an explosion if he had tried the spells he was writing down in his journal, but that's because he forgot to carry a number here and there."

Kinda hilarious, all that denial then "Hey your grandpa who you admire believed in it and almost got some working." Just off hand too😁

This isn't the first time it's been mentioned, funnily. Ruby offhandedly mentions that Nicholas was close to figuring "it" out when she first partners up with Weiss.

Nicholas didn't realize he was figuring out magic, he was just doodling therums down that were close to equations for various spells.

I'm also guessing from the breakfast talk that Aura and Semblance are a person's magic and best suited magic expressing themselves the only way they can?

Aura and magic are one in the same, yes. Semblances are a bit more complicated. They're essentially a single preprogrammed spell tied to a Remnantian's Linker Core (and hence, their Aura). A Rementian could still learn magic normally, they just come with an inherent spell.

As I've said before, Ruby had access to so many spells she doesn't know her own Semblance.

So basically, if Nicholas had been better at math, he would have caused a Magical Revolution.

I bet that if Weiss learns a few spells, she'll go from skeptical to kid in a candy store.

"Your grandfather was actually really close," Ruby added, "he probably would have caused an explosion if he had tried the spells he was writing down in his journal, but that's because he forgot to carry a number here and there."

Forget to carry the one and instead of a energy blast you blown up, maybe killing yourself. the wonders of Math and Magic

... Huh. Opinions from the only two remaining old style spellcasters, Ozpin and Salem, on Remnant are going to be interesting.

I hope we get to see Adam try using Moonslice on Yang, like he did in canon...only for her to block with a Panzerhindernis.

Adam: "That usually works."

Yang: "Performance issues? Don't worry, I hear it happens to one out of five people."
