To be honest I forgot who Browbeat was. I just rolled with the example you gave me.

Who's Browbeat?

I can't remember him.

Anyway, unless there is a huge shift in the votes I'm going to call it by the end of the day.

But to those who are talking through the Wards system, thanks, it's amazing to see any kind of discussion like that. So keep talking through whatever you want to talk about, and I'll keep it all in mind for later.

Until it actually comes up, Happy New Years everyone!

  • [X] Throw caution to the wind, have everyone jump out. Catch Incubus by surprise, shield the cop with your waves and have Contessa and Harbinger take him down.
[x] Stay in cover and use your power. You can control gravity, all it would take is a thought for you to rip the gun out of his hand and trap him against the wall. You might not have the control, but that's not what's important here. Just help those cops.
[X] Step out yourself, but be smart about it. Incubus probably won't resort to killing the cop when he's still useful as a power battery and you're bulletproof. If he aims his gun on you, take it out. If he doesn't, keep him talking and try to give Harbinger or Contessa an opening.

Not yet discussed. If you have any thoughts please share.

Well I totally missed the discussion I started. I'll try to throw more fuel to it.

The first thing to consider is that forcing kids to fight is something we want to avoid being seen doing with the child soldier comparison that would probably happen. That being said, you can't treat these kids like any other kid because of the whole "superpowers with a conflict drive that you got from a sufficiently traumatic event". So we have the dilemma of these immensely valuable assets tied up in normal teenage drama and trigger event trauma which also has to be balanced with totally not a child soldier we swear junior superhero complications.

The canon Wards were a pretty good system -- in the basic theory at least. I'd like ours to have a bit more oomph, and to avoid treating them like normal kids. Because they are far from it. I'm sure some will want nothing more than to be a normal kid, and that's something we should totally support -- only if that's what they really want. And if we do our job right, and are truly a Shining Example of what a Cape should be, I'm sure we'll have most of them doing the right think and stepping up to be Heroes.

One thing that we should make a huge priority is getting the Wards (I'll be referring to them as such for simplicity here) out of shitty home situations. In America (to the best of my knowledge) it's really hard to get kids out of shitty home situations if the parents aren't flagrantly abusive, and even then it can be a bit of a challenge. Now it's not a simple issue to solve, but we aren't looking for a perfect solution for everyone, rather all we really should care about here are the Wards and what's best for them. Even then we won't be able to have a catch-all policy so things would have to be tackled on a case by case basis, but that's not so hard when you have Thinkers, the Government, and Cauldron on your side.

I'd even propose to go further, and prioritize the interests of the Wards over those of the parents even if they aren't in a bad home situation. Because in the end, you can't just treat the Wards like normal kids because they are far from it.

...

I'd outline my thoughts further, but I keep having other things come up when I try to write this, so I'll just post now and be done with it.

We could make it compulsory for them to be housed in Protectorate facilities whilst being trained initially, say its 'For their own safety and the safety of others'. Thus allowing us to better their living situations. For those with good home situations, the Wards will eventually be given the choice to go home or stay in the facilities. Thus those who want to go home can, those who need a better living situation can stay.

You had plenty of time. Now we will never discuss this topic again :V

Mandatory psychiatrist sessions?
Mandatory psychiatrist sessions.

Generally I agree with you, but since you proposed canon but prioritise kids over parents (which we have no evidence that canon didn't do) theres not much to discuss.

If I heard about this I would think it sounds suspiciously like they're separating children from loved ones for what I would assume is some kind of conditioning. The only ward I can recall having an unusually bad home life is Sophia and that was because she wasn't fond of her father and both parents wanted to separate her heroism/vigilantism from their real lives as far as possible.
The idea is fine, until you make it mandatory. That's heavy handed at best. And besides, its hard to argue that after a traumatic incident it is in the best interest of a child to move them into a new environment with noone they know or love.
Also I think canon wards would also support things like this if it was requested and needed. Or at least they do in fanon. As I said, not sure it was needed in canon.
Also Blonddude specifically said a catch all policy wouldn't work

Here I am again, telling everyone what's happened.

Before last week, I planned on having the chapter out by last Friday. But then I was stacked with a combo of things that I'd rather not get into. If you want a snapshot, I'm currently sick and running on 20 hours bedrest for the last seven days.

I can't say sorry enough for the poor planning on my part.

As such, I open the floor to a little deal.

You guys can come together to ask a question you want answered. If you guys really want me to answer it, I will.

I know it's not much, but it's the best I can offer. With the week ahead, expect the next chapter by Friday at the latest.

No, fuck you, your ill ass isn't obligated to give us shit, get some rest.

If Avalanche's Battle Action Harem Highschool Side Character Quest (BAHHSCQ for short) has taught me is that threads can be Shining Examples of patience for a great quest.

Take your time. We can wait.

Oh random tip for your sig if you use tags. It'll show the color tags literally. Like this :

I've used the transparent a lot, after all, I've got to have secret messages somehow.

That being said, I didn't know about the others. Thank you for pointing them out.

I'm back boi!

Chapter is done, it's getting edited, it'll be up in a few days, and I'm still open for questions if you guys want to ask!

Once again, thanks for being a shining example of patience.

Yes, I have fallen victim to the meme as well. I'm not proud of it. I regret it already.

Well since you insist.
  1. If a Woodchuck could chuck wood, how much wood would a Woodchuck chuck?
  2. Who sells seashells by the sea shore?
  3. How many feathers are there on a thrust's throat?

What is the flight velocity of an unladen Atlas?

Also, are you resolving the upcoming fight on a narrative basis, or using dice rolls?

What is the favourite flavour of icecream of the Cauldron members and of your OCs?

What is the flight velocity of an unladen Atlas?

...

...

I hate all of you, but mostly myself. :V

Ignoring all of that! In order:

A woodchuck could chuck as much wood as a woodchuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

She sells seashells by the seashore.

No clue and I don't intend to look it up.

Alex likes mint, not mint chocolate chip, just mint.

Rebecca likes chocolate and mint.

Matthew likes Neopolitan.

Charles will eat pretty much any flavour, he doesn't have a favourite.

David loves vanilla.

Doctor Mother doesn't eat ice cream.

Neither does Manton.

Contessa doesn't either.

Fortuna likes strawberry.

And if we get into the OC's, we'll be here all day.

But for Alex's family, Clint likes mint chocolate chip, and Danah loves sherbert of any flavour.

For that last one, I don't know, how fast do you have to be to go around the world in twelve minutes?

Also, are you resolving the upcoming fight on a narrative basis, or using dice rolls?

Everything is narrative.

Anything else? Something that isn't a meme would be best in all honesty.

You missed Not!Lelouch and Not!C2.

And while I'm on it, I'll scratch my inner shipper. What are the ladies' idea of a perfect date. With extra detail on Best Girl.
