Shattered Bindings (Spyro AU)

Even if my nightmare dragon idea didn't work out (Sorry, should have read into it more), I'm definitely interested in the shadow dragon idea!

Races
Races
Dragons: The most widespread and powerful race in the Dragon Realms, juggernauts of scale and muscle that wield the elements as naturally as they breathe. Long considered the noblest of the races, they have a long and colorful history. Their empires have risen and fallen four times now, but many believe their history goes back much, much further. Priding themselves on their bodies and elemental prowess, dragons wielding shamanism, chi, or Spell-craft are known to exist if rarely.

Daith: A kin race to dragons, bipedal reptilians that have existed with dragons for known memory, coming in many different shapes. Wielding Chi and having developed a form of Spell-craft unique to them, they have stood beside and served dragons for many ages. Forming tribes and clans themselves, they have a solid foothold in the world. Before the Fourth Empire came, it is said they ruled the Archaic Domains.

Dragonflies: Small, agile insects that glow with light. The oldest legends tell of how they bear a connection to Light, whether by being the children of light directly or descended from such beings. They reside in swamps and tend to travel with either dragons or daith they trust, which is held as a sign of good fortune.

Dwellers: A nimble rodent race who skulk in the dark corners of the world. Particularly prevalent in the Twilight Woods, but they have also spread throughout the tunnels and catacombs that crisscross the world. Most notably known for their ability to use Shadow and the numerous clans that wage an unending war of subterfuge against each other. Though typically seen as treacherous, no matter what beliefs or goals that one holds there is likely a clan that also holds to those beliefs.

Griffons: A younger race and less widespread than dragons, but still an old one. Griffins long resided in what is currently known as the Archaic Domains by the dragons, preferring to keep to their own rather than deal with dragons, who possessed both longer life spans and the elements. In place of such power, Gryphons are naturally highly spiritual and excel with shamanism by nature. Able to call on spirits for feats of power that could rival dragons, they used this to great effect in keeping their territories their own for many millennia. They have developed a unique style of fighting where they fight beside one or two spirits directly.

Will add to this later. Forgotten Realms will likely also be renamed at some point, but the name has just kind of stuck even if it does not make sense.

Wonder what the odds will be Spyro will be around somewhere but not actually active in main events just yet..

Tlos has Spyro with dragonflys for multiple years until he starts using his abilities..as odd as it is he didn't realize sooner with size differences heh.

Origin
Shadow.

Since time uncounted it has been seen as the element of thieves, assassins, and spies. Not all shadow dragons take up such occupations however and many are content to simply go on about their lives, how they choose to live them. Users of Shadow also make fantastic messengers, scouts, and most notably explorers of the unending tunnels beneath the surface.

Where one grows up can say a lot about a person, both true and untrue. Where then were you raised?

Choose One
[] Strifescar - An ancient city on the border between the Artisan and Peace Keeper realms, which has stood in one form or another for longer than recorded history. Underneath it is a labyrinth of ruins so expansive that one could spend their entire life in and never fully explore. Strifescar is a city with a rich history which has outlasted all four of the Dragon Empires.

[] Noctrine - The shadows are long indeed in Noctrine, a fact that the natives are well aware of. The river that runs through the city flows directly from the heart of the Midnight Woods, tainting the water with such concentration of Shadow so as to cripple the senses of non-shadow users. More notably however is that Noctrine is a center for the less savory side of realms and its markets bristle with ill-gotten loot.

[] Faradun - Faradun is a fortified stronghold on the edge of both the Shining Demesne and the Shattered Conflux. On one side is the perpetual storm that hovers over the Shining Demesne and on the other is the chaotic and ever changing state of the Shattered Conflux which is not helped by the close proximity to the Cratered Heart. A majority of the Peace Keeper's formidable forces can be found garrisoning the fortress and the lesser outposts around it.

[] Wildgarde - Deep in the wilds of the Beast Makers is the small town of Wildgarde. Isolated from everything save for the ocean by the Malignant Groves, life in Wildgarde is tough. It is in this remote location that dangerous research regarding both animals and plants. The dangerous and untamed wilderness around the town keeps even the most skilled individual on guard as you never know what you will encounter next.

[] Aeranas - A peaceful village on the edges of the Eroded Halls. Not many bother to travel so far north, let alone brave the area around the Eroded Halls where tornadoes spawn freely and often. Music fills the air here at all times of the day, created by both musicians and the whistling wind as it hammers the cliffs in a pleasant symphony. The most frequent visitors to Aeranas tend to be vacationing nobles who find the location quite relaxing.

[] Poesitias - Sitting on the outskirts of the Flood Archipelago lays the largest and busiest port in the realms. Almost all goods that cross the Silver Seas pass through Poesitias, allowing one to find just about anything that they are looking for. Poesitias is the popular hub for explorers, pirates, and traders who make their living in navigating the treacherous waters of the archipelago.

[] Kerdan - Kerdan is a booming mining town on the far side of the Archaic Domains just outside of the Incandescent Flows. A massive open pit mine supplies Kerdan with a veritable bounty of precious gems and metals. Those looking to strike it rich are always welcome, though it is seldom that such a valuable find is actually made even here.

[] Larton - Nestled within the foothills of the Luminous Mountains is a small town known as Larton. Nothing particularly notable happens in this town save for the odd lightshow coming from the mountains or the caravan going to and from the Lux clan's village.

[] Salemere Castle - On the very northeastern end of the Archaic Domains is Saelmere Castle. Seen as the capital of the western realms, it has until recently maintained a strangely anti-dragon policy. Even now, the vast majority of the city's population is made up of non-dragons. It is here that the western realms are ruled over in Malefor's name.

[] Writein - Numerous villages and towns dot the realms and those listed here make up a small fraction of the total.

As a dragon, you were given a name at birth themed around your element. What are you called?

Name
[] Write In

so what startpoint sounds interesting to you all? I like the sound of the one with the old labrynth and ruins, but all the choices have fun sides here.

@Nianque

Included gender here if it's alright. Figured might need to be clear given fantasy names heh
I did not include gender because I am not sure how well I would write a female character.

Ah. All fairs there I'll edit the post real quick then

Now to see the situation in Dragon Realms..with Malefor in charge, probably be seeing his forces around in big cities or sites of interest..

Hmm, a thought @Nianque is there any canon figures whose status would "common knowledge" in the lore? An example would be Tlos Cynder as the general of Malefor..

Uh hmm... Been thinking about this. There's a few, but I really want to wait until at least character creation is done.
