Shadows on the Silverbird (Mafia)

The Finale - Scarlet Hand/Mimic Victory.
Well...everyone thought about going below deck... however immediately Estro rushes at Cheese for everyone in a blur and grabs them by the throat lifting them up, the other two watch stunned as in seconds cheese's body withers...becomes rotten, and finally falls to the deck...lifeless

@Cheese4Every1 has been [Drained of All lifeforce] They were Deslan the Hunter. The last member of The Crew

Nictis walks up casually to Estro and turn to face the last remaining person alive on this ship...as Estro flips back their hood revealing the sunken and partially rotten face of the monstrosities known as Liches.

"You have done well...you can join us...or you can die. Make no mistake, you have no other option."

Terrabrand flips back their hood, and the two watch as their face shifts between various members of the ship who have died, settling finally on a strange mixture of a few. "Sounds good...After all...Only being able to eat one of them a day was a rather light diet that I'm done with...he casually walks over picks up the body of Cheese and in moments devours the entire body...finishing with a belch. "Where too now?"

The last remaining two figures cackles evily and turn heading below deck...The Crew of the Silverbird was never heard from again...no one will know what happened. There are no survivors.

The Scarlet Hand has won.
@Nictis , @Estro , and @atk50 have all won as a part of this team

The Mimic has won.
@Terrabrand has survived and lived to join the Scarlet Hand.

Awards and stuff will be coming later. I hope everyone enjoyed the game!

Awards
Awards-
@Terrabrand - Towns last hope. For being the most scumhunting player of the game near the end and making smart plays against scum. He ended up also being essentially a kingmaker on the last day.
@LostDeviljho - Nanimani luck. For getting targeted by both Scum kills on night one...like dang…<3
@QTesseract / @Archeo Lumiere - But the cop said… For both being openly proven by both confirmed cops...but still lynched as scum suspects with no real proof other than speculations about their role and thoughts from a dead scum.
@TheMaskedReader - Shot themselves - For trying to lynch the survivor instead of looking for a scumgroup member under the impression to deny their win condition...thus turning the survivor into a guaranteed enemy of them.
@Abdbla - Usual Suspect - For getting lynched first...always a painful experience.
@Pawn Lelouch - Triple Agent - For revealing their teammate to the scum medium...albeit he also sowed much confusion by lying about a 3rd scummate...which granted Scarlet Hand started with 3 made them paranoid.
@Cookie Side - No I'm scum… - For claiming to be fully scum after the bounty hunter wincon of their group was complete...leaving them as still mutineers...but town aligned.
@Astaroh-M - Found em...oh I've been killed - For dying the very night he investigates Nictis...meaning the game could have gone VERY differently if he didn't die.
@atk50 - I killed mostly everyone - For only not killing performing the normal kill once while alive. Also honestly did pretty good for a GF scum goon.
@Nictis - Necromancy? Not me… - For being more than able to fool the entire town AND deadchat in a game where necromatic flavors are present and still not being a lynch target after encouraging an early hammer. Overall Great preformance.
@Broken Base - No I'm the cop...sorta - For CCing Asta despite having a strong...but much more fragile and random set of investigative powers. She also was the only with a chance to survive the Lich's 1-shot strongman but rip
@Crystalwatcher - Inverse Qualities - For making a pretty good play in pretending to be a jester to have people ignore them...while being a doctor trying to save people...Although...they only targeted town ONCE...and healed them...strange luck there.
@Estro - "Litch" Queen - For managing to show an excellent showing as a scum leader and presenting a great town appearance. Overall real good job!

I'd like to say that many things went weird this game...for instance a LOT of vanilla's were targeted super early, people seemed inattentive a fair bit. I had fun watching you all play the game and it seems people enjoyed it! I'll have roles out at some point tonight as well.

ROLES! Yay!
THE CREW(Power roles)

Astaroh-M - Captain Nelvas
Captain Nelvas(Crew)
You are captain Nelvas, and you carefully disguised yourself among the crew following your last orders. You know this grants an opportunity to your enemies to interact more publically, but this is the only way to flush them out of hiding. For now, you must remain hidden yourself and act as any other member of the crew. You could reveal yourself, but this might put you at danger. Regardless, you know this crew better than anyone, no cloak can hide one member of your crew from you.

Master and Commander: Once each night you can [Inspect] a crew member to follow them observing their guise and natural affinity about the Silverbird.

You've been on this ship since its founding, starting as but a simple deckhand, and through valor, tenacity, and good fortune succeeded the first captain of this vessel after they fell in battle against the Great Titan Ishagar twenty years ago. That living mountain was your first true enemy and your proudest achievement, as your wrestled command in the chaos and forced the ship low, flying not but 8 men tall, commanding all positions to fire upon its legs, dealing enough damage for the titan to fall back to the earth so that the mages of Lavisgran could bring is back to rest. This heroic deed was the first of many and what got you sponsored by your home country of Lavisgran. Though your age has caught up with you, you refuse to let whatever is causing this chaos to defeat you and this crew.

You'll only feel safe once all the threats to the crew have been eliminated

GM notes: At the core they are a faction cop, They can determine if someone is a member of the crew, not a member of the crew, Mutinous towards them, or in the case of the Mimic specifically- wearing the guise of an already dead person(of who would be the person LAST devoured)

Letmebefree - First Mate Xerxe
First Mate Xerxe(Crew)
You're the first mate! With the captain orders you once again have direction, and can once again strive to proudly serve this fine crew, or what is left of them. To get to this position you're no slouch and have never been. You're a respectable Sorcerer and know what you must do. Protect the crew! You are a member of the Crew

Your talents lie in the domain of Ice and you know the best way to use your abilities to risk harm to the crew. Once each night you may [Deep Freeze] a target player's lodgings, trapping them inside, while also preventing anyone from doing any potential harm to them. You may not target yourself with this ability, for there is no honor in hiding while your crewmates suffer.

You see this vessel not as station, but as a home, as a family. You were taken aboard as a young child after a dragon blazed hellfire onto your village leaving you as one of the few survivors. They took you in before your powers manifested and while many would look at those with your abilities with fear, they accepted you, your magic, and your revenge. For thirteen years you trained your body, and your sorcery, none would find you wanting, giving every ounce of your might to protect those that ventured beside you. You recall when the dragon, Buyazu, was located and without hesitation, your family joined you, in taking them down. You recall the heat of their flames melting your walls of ice, the steam that consumed they sky, and of course when you tapped into your very core freezing their fire within their maw.

You'll only feel safe once all the threats to the crew have been eliminated.

GM notes: Cut and clear jailer, nothing too special about the role.

Broken Base - Sarazen, The Shaman
Sarazen, The Shaman(Crew)
People outside and on the crew have always been skeptical of your connection with the spirits and their realm. Their nature not as gods but of beasts of knowledge and trickery concern those that only hear them in part, you are one that hears their voices, and does the tasks required to keep them amicable and trustworthy. Your eager and continuous patronage to them have granted you access to their insights when requested.

Once per night you may [Beseech the spirit of the __] And select between:
The Sheltering Bear- They who is filled with power but must disappear in times of hardship. If requested they will grant you protection from all form of harm this night, but can only do this but once.
The Wise Wolf- They who runs in a pack knows who is trustworthy amongst them. If requested they will impart the name of one of your ally crew mates.
The Sly Crow- They who watches and appraises, locating angles to manipulate, and lines that should be avoided. If requested they will whisper to you the voices of four, but at least one certainly has the willpower to harm another aboard this ship.

The Wolf and Crow are shy however, and will not answer if they sense the presence of another. They both may repeat names to you.

You've been on this ship since its founding, then the Silverbird was but a pirate vessel granted purpose and prestige only from the deeds of its crew and your natures as perhaps dark, but kind souls, those that understood the toils of commoners and the world itself. Your age has long since caught up with you slowing your movements and your ability to adventure. But your experience is unmatched and your duty and discipline unparalleled.

You can only be safe once all threats to the crew have been eliminated.

GM Notes: This was both an answer to the mass amounts of GF ability going around and a weird fun role. However it is incredibly fragile as soon as they are revealed as protecting them means they can't do anything and not doing so means they are wide open to death...However The Bear ability was the ONLY thing that could survive the Lich's strongman kill. Also at higher levels of play there were town members with kill capabilities, making this role have potential to make a townie appear bad, but only give 3 names instead of 4 for Crow.

Cheese4every1 - Deslan the Hunter
Deslan, the Hunter(Crew)
As the newest member of the crew you have a lot to prove, but you're confident you can. You've already made it past these ordeals, that have felled many and turned brother against brother, but the tales of this crew are something you need to be a part of. Your days of learning the arts of stealth, patience, and a keen eye have to pay off with this new task from the captain.

Once per night you may [Observe] a target player, setting up a hidden camp outside one's chosen lodging, and will know if they leave or are visited in the night. While the darkness below deck means you won't know who has done so, or even if it is one coming or going, you're confident this can be helpful.

You joined the crew, but only 3 months ago, after they traversed to your small town to assist against a massive goblin warband. You had heard tale of the Silverbird, but thought their skills only fiction, and so you could not leave the protection of your town to them. You grabbed your bow and fell goblin after goblin until your quiver ran empty, from there you could only wait and watch, and watch you did as this crew tore through the waves of goblins, and sent them running crippled and unlikely to return to your village. You were wrong about them, and inspired by their skill. When you revealed yourself and asked to join the crew, they accepted you without hesitation.

You can consider the nightmare over once the perpetrators of this mess are dealt with.

GM Notes: A very weak overall...however it serves two purposes: To potentially validate visit claims(Although weak in it's ability too) AND to Vanilla Check later. For instance if scum had to claim vanilla earlier the Hunter could watch them, and potentially see an action done near them, meaning oh hey, this person might be lying. Unfortunately the role had little to impact other than self verification purposes this game.

Crystalwatcher - Jessy paladin of Heimnos
Jessy, Paladin of Heimnos
As your dented and shambled armor show that you might not be the best on the front line anymore, but while you don't have the ability to patch armor, you certainly know how to patch someone up. Your prayers and spells have kept those close to you alive against great foes, and in these trying times those skills are still needed, even if your mace is lost to the waters below.

Every night you can [Heal] a target player to save them from the brink of death. If you successfully heal a target from an attempt on their life you will be aware of it, but while your target will know they were saved they likely can't remember your face being so close to the brink. You cannot target yourself, as your duty to protect your fellow allies compels you otherwise.

You've fought long and hard for this ship and the country it protects, Lavigran, against mummies, zombies, ghosts, and various beast of the sky and waves, you've lost a hand in the past but your deeds have granted you their return as a boon from your god, Heimnos, deity of chivalry, honor, duty, and perseverance. These last 15 years you've served with this crew and no strange occurance like this is going to stop you from protecting them.

You'll only feel safe once your comrades are no longer in danger.

GM Notes: Standard Doctor, nothing too special.

That wraps up the Town's power roles as EVERY other role was Vanilla. To those speculating why AL's slot didn't have a power role it was to not have a team that has to kill near half the towns power roles and then still win with town, more into that next as we move into mutineers. Overall I think the town was a bit underpowered...but in fairness I believe both scum-teams were also underpowered by a similar extent. The craziest thing in this game honestly is the mimic and it was a pretty vanilla game otherwise.

MUTINY ROLES

Cookie Side- Bosun Jack L. Anders
Bosun Jack L. Anders(Leader)
You've longed to finally take the glory of this ship under your own name. You've toiled as the one who's always done the grunt work to keep this ship running, but the glory would always befall others, and with these cloaks granted to you by the captain himself, you believe it's time to take advantage of the situation, becoming a Mutineer knowing that if you are to ever rise to your rightful position, this is how you will do it. You know that there are others who claim greater claim to that position than you so they must be ousted in any form, these individuals are the captain, 1st mate, and 2nd mate, thankfully your trusty Bosun's mate Liah(Pawn Lelouch) has taken your side in this endeavor.

You and Liah may speak in your secret meeting spot here Mutineer Meeting Room before darkness sets in to discuss who you will kill that night. You both may vote on who you may kill by typing [X] Kill Player at your meeting., however as the leader of this...small revolution you will be the deciding vote in the case of a tie. You or Liah will ambush and [Hack Apart] the voted individual as you both are quite trained in combat, as long as you are both available to do so however.

None Rule Alone:
As any Mutineer is a proper member of the crew, the observations of others will not find you as a criminal, at least at first. The first Mutineer investigated will not appear as anything other than innocent, however should a second member be investigated the plans of mutiny will likely be noticed.

Offers of Wealth n' Power:
You may both vote a player to attempt to join in your mutiny, by voting [X] Recruit Player in your Quicktopic. Doing so will require you to forfeit any personal or faction actions to attempt this. A fair number of the crew would be well tempted by your promises, but some might outright reject your offers. You can only get one chance at this, as it is too risky to attempt more than once. If successful you will be alerted and they will join your faction and quicktopic.

Honed Reflexes:
A lifetime of being on the frontline for the crew has granted you great capabilities...but everyone is bound to slip up one time or another. Your skills grant you a 1 time Bulletproof vest, which can prevent you from dying by normal means.

You've served as the Bosun of this crew for well over twenty years, you have fought bravely and served with panache. All while still having to keep track of every damn cannonball, barrel of gunpowder, and barrel of rum and brandy. You took down the Ogre Warchief Grunkuul in single combat, cascading from the sky itself to face them and yet, when the first captain fell, your position stayed the same the crew focusing on the deeds of another to replace the captain.

You win once all who would oppose your Captainship have been put down as well as any other threats to the Crew. You will lose however if you do not establish your rightful place before these threats to the ship are taken care of.

Bounty-Hunter Leader with a 1-shot NK immunity. Nothing too special but. I'll go over full team stuff after the Bosun's mate

Pawn Lelouch - Bosun's Mate Liah N. Morganswath
Bosun's Mate Liah N. Morganswath
When the Bosun(Cookie Side) asked you if you wanted to help him take over the ship, you were more than willing to say, "Aye!" In Lavisgran, your crews country only the strong rule. And the Captain was not strong enough to prevent this. Knowing that you became a Mutineer and swore and oath to be Jack's loyal first mate. You've got a lot of work to do, find and execute the Captain, the 1st mate, and the 2nd mate as well as whomever has caused this chaos in the first place. Get to work scallywag!

You and Jack may speak in your secret meeting spot here Mutineer Meeting Room before darkness sets in to discuss who you will kill that night. You both may vote on who you may kill by typing [X] Kill Player at your meeting., however as the leader of this...small revolution Jack will be the deciding vote in the case of a tie. You or Jack will ambush and [Hack Apart] the voted individual as you both are quite trained in combat, as long as you are both available to do so however.

Wiles of the Alluring:
While your combat skills may be good, your skills at causing heads to turn and a person's attention to be riveted to you is unrivaled. You may choose one player to [Distract] and will spend the night causing their sole attention to be you and your bounty while you slip them a powerful sleeping draft in their drink. You personally cannot perform the faction kill any night you do this.

You have worked this ship for eight years, both a noble and a renowned duelist, from the moments you got on board. You expected better, but you were forced to start as anyone else as a deckhand, you quickly rose, to the assistant of the Bosun, but then your ascension stopped. It need not matter that you held off the 1st mate of the Black Diamond Pirates as they boarded the Silverbird, this deed and the scars you left on them did not move you up, it seems only vacancies at this point will grant you your rightful position in power.

You win once all who would oppose your Captainship have been put down as well as any other threats to the Crew. If Jack were to fall in this endeavor you would take it upon yourself to become captain. You both will lose however if you fail to establish your rightful places before the threats to the ship are taken care of.

GM notes: Bounty-Hunter roleblockers.

So there we have our mutiny squad. They had a team-wide 1-shot Cop-proof(Doesn't defend against BB's crow), 1-shot Cult that worked only on vanilla's that weren't the Second Mate, and sided with town after killing Captain, 1st Mate, and 2nd Mate but lost if the scarlet hand dies before they can kill those 3. Sadly they only had a Phyriic Victory as they achieved their goal of mutiny...but failed to survive for it. The culting had a few uses, it of course got more guaranteed day support, It provided a way to have someone else preform the kill, and if it failed, it meant that person was likely worth killing. Now then...onto the Scum-team proper

THE SCARLET HAND

Estro- Zo'Doran, The Lich(Leader)
Zo'Doran, the Lich(Leader)
You are Zo'Doran the Lich, Leader of the Scarlet Hand. You have been sent to infiltrate the Silverbird's crew and destroy them from the inside to weaken the strength of the country they have sworn to defense, so that your organization may one day invade and conquer that land.

You may discuss with your servants here in Scarlet Whispers through the clever use of whisper bands. Every night you will vote on a player who you will visit and [Drained of all lifeforce]. As the leader you have the final say in who your group will target however by specifically saying [Order Member to Kill: Player] within the quicktopic. The Lowest Hand will always perform the deed, unless you order it otherwise. However if they are blocked or otherwise unable to kill no one else will be sent. The Scarlet Hand expects perfection afterall.

Undead Constitution:
Due to your undead nature you are unable to be vanquished by means that any single individual on this vessel has. You are immune to all forms of night kills.

Overwhelming Necrosis: You have access to great powers, due to the rituals and tasks to make you what you are, and along the process of acquiring this form you acquired many abilities in magic. Your greatest spell is something you are prepared to use if the need arises, but you only have the resources to cast it once. Once per game you may expend your banshee catalyst to curse a being's very soul into decaying into nothingness the body following shortly thereafter.

You do this by sending the message [Devastate] Player, that player will die. To your knowledge there is little that can stop this spell from taking hold. This spell does not interfere with your factional kill but you can not perform both in the same night. The kill flavor for this is [Devastated with Necrotic Energy]

GM notes: Stuff to note, This was a fairly basic scumleader...but I gave them NK-proof instead of GF ability. The 1-shot Strongman could not be stopped(Even if a jail or RB happened ON the Lich) EXCEPT by the Shaman's Self-Commute ability. Also Quite secondary award to Estro for constantly calling themselves "Litch"

Nictis- Brados, Apprentice Necromancer
Brados, Apprentice Necromancer
You are Brados, Apprentice to Lich Zo'Doran and Second in command of the Scarlet Hand. You have been sent to assist the Lich against the Silverbird's crew and destroy them from the inside to weaken the strength of their country, so that your organization may one day invade and conquer their land.

You may discuss with your teammates here in Scarlet Whispers through the clever use of whisper bands. Every night you will vote on a player who you will visit and they will be [Drained of all lifeforce]. The Lowest Hand will always perform the deed, unless the leader orders it otherwise. However if they are blocked or otherwise unable to kill no one else will be sent. The Scarlet Hand expects perfection in all forms. In the case that the leader falls, you will become the leader. If it is only you and the leader, you will perform the group night kill.

Secrets of the Dead: While many in the Scarlet Hand have the ability to create whisper bands, few proceed further into the craft behind them, your research into the abilities in communication from near and far have granted you abilities beyond others of your profession. You have achieved the ability to converse with those from beyond the mortal coil naturally without rituals, or artifacts. This allows you the ability to channel the voices of the spirits that watch and comment on the actions aboard this vessel. You have access to the death chat at all times, here Deadchat

Your teammates are: Estro(Lich) and Dancelord(Neonate)You win anyone who opposes your group is eliminated.

GM Notes: When it comes down to it...this role was made to garner bits of information for scum-team to use for situations of the Cops dying and how to gather information on what roles they might no longer have to worry about it...what actually happened was Nictis turned this into the MVP role by getting the name of the enemy faction and then using that town cred to FURTHER direct the town to their own doom while covering for his teammates...He even managed to aggressively rush a hammer AND STILL NOT BECOME SUSPICIOUS TO THE REST OF THE TOWN.

Atk50- Dreftan, Scarlet Hand Neonate
Dreftan, Scarlet Hand Neonate
You are Dreften, fresh member to the Scarlet Hand who has played perhaps the most pivotal part in this your first mission. You have infiltrated the Silverbird's crew to create access for your betters to get on the ship, and destroy them from the inside to weaken the strength of their country, so that your organization may one day invade and conquer their land.

The Scarlet Hand expects perfection so you'd better do well. In the case everyone else falls, you will become the leader.

Fresh Faced Kid
: You are a proper member of the crew, working here undercover for the last six months, growing friendly with the crew and with the ship. This familiarity is something important and can certainly get you out of appearing as anything other than a simple deckhand.

GM notes: Basic Scum-goon modified to have GF quality. ORIGINALLY...The Lich had both NK and GF...however Comi managed to prevent me from making the bad decision of making a goon with no protection or way to secure town-cred mechanically...something I should've caught much earlier. Cred goes to comi for that balance check.

The Scarlet Hand OVERALL...were a very vanilla scum-team overall, they didn't have any super interesting mechanical Gimmicks like say curtain call's scum teams had. Which really goes to show you how playing to have good town cred can get you FARRRRR as All 3 members had high town cred at nearly all times of play by stated opinion.

and finally...

THE MIMIC!

Terrabrand - The Mimic
Mimic
You woke up to find this chaotic hellscape of a ship all around you! Man...you really shouldn't hibernate in dungeons as a fancy lamp anymore... you quickly devoured and took the form of the corpse conveniently beside you when you awoke, so that you can enjoy what is going on. Oh...right...don't forget that you are a Mimic and most people view your kind as monsters, but you are smarter than most of your ilk, so you're even capable of speech and really complex thoughts. These lesser beings are quite crude, to reduce you to that of a lowly monster, you almost have feelings!

The Hunger: Once per night you [consume] one of the dead bodies of the ship and obtain the fragmented memory and skills of what they knew in life, allowing you to mimic their abilities to the best of your capability for two uses. Once you consume a body you cannot consume it again. You can retain consumed abilities until you use them and nothing can stop your Consumption itself, but the abilities you obtain can indeed be stopped. If you are unable to perform an ability when you normally could you do not lose the ability.

Two Hearts: Mimics...unbeknown to most, hold two hearts so you withstand twice the beating! This effectively grants you a 1-Shot Night Kill Immunity unless someone was to say, destroy your entire body in one go.

You win as long as you survive to see this chaos end, regardless of the outcome.

So when I was designing this game I knew I wanted to have a Survivor in it...and I really wanted it to be a fun and wacky role that someone could have fun with...instead of being a rather neutral I don't want to die please leave me alone kind of deal. Thus the mimic was born! I really find it hilarious that the entire end of the game actually swung around the Mimic. SOMETHING TO NOTE: When the Mimic devours ANY role that had more than 1 ability, it would gain only 1 of them AT RANDOM. This is why when Terrabrand Consumed PL, He got the Kill ability, and not the roleblocker ability. This also played into making a lot of confusion about there being a 3rd mutineer which got thrown more around because of it. Another thing to note, that while he normally get's 2 uses of abilities, IF the Lich or Shaman died with their 1-shot abilities UNUSED, the Mimic could obtain that ability for 1-shot capabilities as well(Randomly of course)

The rest of the roles were Vanilla's of varying flavor...SPEAKING OF FLAVOR. I have one final award to give out!

@ComiTurtle - The Loremaster! - For writing (even if a tad overkill imo) a large chunk of the flavor lore to make every role feel unique and alive. And my personal thanks for helping me run and balance my very first game!

Yeah, that was my game. If anyone else has questions, feedback, or otherwise please let me know. I hope to run more games in the future and only improve my quality from here.
