Sagas of Heroes and Legends

[X] Female
[X] Cannon
[X] Energy Absorbtion/Release - Able to absorb most forms of energy (but most efficiently kinetic and electrical), store them in her body, and release them. While there is no 'real' upper limit to how much, the more she absorbs, the faster she has to release it or risk harming herself. The main downside is the range of where she releases it is extremely limited - best used to power up her own physical attacks.
[X] The capricious and irritable daughter of the owner of an Asian restaurant chain. A delinquent and vicious bully hunter for most of her life, she took up mixed martial arts in high school to cool her tempers. While it didn't quite work, it did give her a career path and a way to vent her excess fury.

Loosely based on a character I've used in a superhero RP or two on other sites.

Heh, I've got literally hundreds of superhero characters, most with fairly comprehensive backstories, but for this, I'll go with one of my 'interesting' ones.

[X] Doublet
[X] Female
[X] Conceptual Doubling - She can cause anything to 'double'. Height, weight, power range, power range diameter, pupil dilation, blood pressure, body temperature, shirt size, bank balance, as long as she can conceptualize something as a number (even if she doesn't know what that number is), she can double it. She can only affect a given object, including herself, in one way with her power, so if she doubles the thickness of a wall, she can't double it again, and if she doubles someone's strength, she can't then double their running speed. Her power also works to stabilize the changes it makes to be safe, so doubling someone's height isn't going to make their heart collapse or anything, unless she willingly chooses to make it unsafe, or chooses something that is deliberately unsafe (doubling someone's temperature on the Kelvin scale, for example).
[X] Born to a dominating mother, Doublet never felt like she was good enough at anything she tried. However, when she saw the events unfold in the city, she was inspired. She dreamed of being a hero, but those dreams distracted her, and her mother doubled down on her workload, demanding that she work twice as hard as she had been. Thanks to all of this, she eventually attempted suicide, only to be rescued by Colorful. This is what eventually brought her contact with Damsel, as she was recovering, with the idea that she wanted to be MORE than she had been before.

[X] Parfum
[X] Female
[X] Liquid Secretion - Able to internally manufacture any liquid she's tasted before and then secrete it out of her skin. The materials used to create the liquids come from her own body, so she can't create infinite liquids.
[X] The illegitimate daughter of a popular male model, she spent most of her life feeling the distinct lack of her father and the deep desire to earn his acknowledgement and respect. After trying and failing to become a model herself, she became a fashion designer with perfume design as a hobby on the side.

Edit: Hope this is how it's done. If I got anything wrong, I'm perfectly willing to make whatever adjustments are necessary.

Edit 2: Ah, hadn't realized. Okay, choice made.
Why not just let's her go environmental liquids. Also I kin da want to keep is a sausage fest to keep the damsel and her knights feel.

Should we really be writing in charity case ones still?

Triage. Is like our buzz word. Outside of supra emergencies. We should be sticking to hyper competent and loyal as we can vet or possibly opening up our travel scheme.

[X]Kilroy
[X]Male
[X]Age transformation- he can change his age limited to 4 year old to his natural age before his empowerment, while aging or de-aging he has a bit of a healing factor but need rest for intensive injuries ,drugs/poisons or multiple transformation. (Edit: he could add subtle changes like hair growth facial and head and the tint of his skin tanned to pale and, hair and eyes)
[X] A man in his 100s who experienced the ww2 espionage scenes. Retired, made a bar, married the nursed who saved him from a nasty shot while nagging about stupid men... She got quite a fury for a gentle thing, had children and children's had children life was nice and still waiting to meet up with my pals and the Miss's but it seem it'll be delayed for a bit, lost my youngest son in the bombing and my daughter's eldest son lost his heart in it too ... but I didn't answer the call for revenge why should I they died answering the call saving people. I just want this to never happen again. So I ask that little lady Damsel if she could use this rusty old bag of bones.

It would be interesting for him to experience teenhood of that year if he needs to infiltrate a school or something
And sorry if wrote it wrong

So, concensus seems to be creating a character now, but people are disagreeing what sort of hero to make. If I don't see a leading vote, I'll just go ahead and create one for you all using trends that I can see.

Character Creation
One year after Calamity, the world was a different place. The city he had targeted had eventually been nuked when Blackball passed out, but the majority of it had been evacuated in a frankly heroic effort. The people though, they had had their lives completely destroyed.

The city hadn't been his only target either. Places around the world found themselves destroyed. The strikes had been directed and careful. A dam here, a power station there. Places that were destroyed with seemingly strange coincidences that were only obvious in retrospect. Nothing was as dramatic as the nukes, but the damage was still extreme.

Analyzing the series of events lead people to believe that Calamity wasn't going for casualties mostly. He was trying to disrupt and move people instead. He made places uninhabitable and created far more chaos than simply killing people would have caused. The end result was unknown, but without intervention, there was a good chance that several governments would have destabilized.

That was where Damsel and her heroes stepped in. They worked non-stop to route and address the chaos caused by Calamity. An ever growing list of heroes addressed issues around the world. Soon, they became household names, and Damsel had to create an entire organization to handle distractions and money issues. There were a lot of both. Donations poured in yes, but they poured out just as quickly just trying to stabilize things.

A year later, things were starting to calm down some. Lives were ruined yes, but the world was starting to recover and people had a chance to breath. Damsel and her group especially.

That was where you came in. Before Damsel had been empowering people based on her judgment and what was needed. She's refined the process somewhat, but she cannot really empower people daily or something like that. A year later and the heroes were under a hundred. Most empowered by her, but one or two have apparently popped out without her intervention. (The newscasters were already speculating that there might be another 'power maker'.)

You've been vetted. The Hero's League had apparently hired people to do background checks and other actions. You were sparkling clean, and had a clean bill of mental health for whatever that was worth. One or two of Damsel's heroes had been viewed near breakdown, and it was a miracle that no one had actually snapped considering the work they'd been doing.

There were more than a few rumbles of caution now that things were starting to calm down some. It was worrying to everyone who considered themselves a fan of the newly formed Heroes League.

That was for later though. You were going to meet Damsel soon. She was going to give you powers! You felt a bit like a little kid again.

The place you were brought to was a large building made of delicate looking glass. It looked beautiful and futuristic. The secretary had waved you in, and you were waiting in a very large sunroom with a big glass table, and a lot of chairs. You didn't see many other people though.

Based on what you knew, there were a good dozen of these buildings across the world. Made partially by Colorful, they were mostly PR buildings, not where the heroes stayed. Here was where official actions were done, as well as a lot of paperwork.

You are:

Your background is:

[][Background] A war hero. Crippled by enemy fire, you're missing both legs and a good portion of your intestines. You don't regret it, but the phantom pains keep you up at night.
[][Background] A professor. Extremely educated, and knowledgeable. You don't know why someone like you were chosen, but it's a chance for a lifetime.
[][Background] A survivor. Cancer got you. Chemo helped, somewhat, but you don't beat cancer. You survive it. You've been afflicted most your life, and your lifespan is now in months as the last of the treatments have failed.
[][Background] An experiment. You're not even in college. A high school graduate. Damsel had requested a chance to see how small she could make powers with. You got picked out of what amounts to a lottery.

I think seeing what we can accomplish with a supposedly "little" power would be very fascinating, and would open us up to have to figure out how to munchkin it properly.

All the backgrounds look awesome, and I'm not sure which to choose, but for now I think Survivor wins out by a sliver.

A new beginning
AN: Real life kicked me in the balls a few days ago. Sucks, but you can't let things get you down otherwise you'll drown. I'll live, but updates might be erratic while I get things sorted.

Hope was a painful thing. You thought you had lost the capacity for it to be honest. Gone through all the stages of grief and arrived at acceptance. The possibility of being saved had stopped crossing your mind a few months ago. Damsel didn't do charity cases often. She couldn't. Her power was simply up too infrequently. Attempts at making a medical power hadn't quite gone right. The best result had been Patchwork, who could do some pretty scary surgery, but couldn't really heal. Hell, after the first zombie, only the desperate went to him nowadays. For better or for worse, if you really wanted to be saved from certain death, Damsel was the only one.

You were the second cancer patient being empowered by Damsel.

Hope hurt. The fact that there were more deserving patients also hurt. You were giddy too of course, but that pain kept you from leaping off the walls. Well, not that you could. You had a distinct lack of muscle mass for that. You were in a wheelchair for a reason after all. Chemotherapy was not pleasant, and that you were mobile at all was an absolute miracle. The doctors had told you you had a month to live, and you felt it. Your body could barely move. You had no muscles. Your hair was gone. Dying was not pretty.

Honestly, if Damsel hadn't personally guaranteed she'd be here, you wouldn't have come at all. Your had likely signed your death warrant just from the travel stress. Your body couldn't take much more.

"Seems a bit cruel to have you meet me here." The woman in question stepped into the room alone, and smiled at you.

She was beautiful. Long brown hair that shimmered, perfectly formed body and clear skin, eyes that drew you in, and a smile that could inspire men to die for her. Even near death you could still note that. It made your dying body shame you just a bit. Like something so ugly as you shouldn't be in the presence of something so lovely.

"Hush. You don't need to speak." Damsel settled down in a chair across from you. "I'm here to fix you. Give you your life back. Is that ok?"

Mouth closed, you nodded.

Damsel nodded and took up your hand without flinching or even seeming to notice how bony it was. "Now, you don't need to become one of my heroes when it happens. I'd like that, but there are no strings attached to this. Any questions?"

"Why me?" You croaked out. Not that you weren't grateful, but you weren't special. You were a nobody dying from cancer.

The woman's face lost it's smile, and she looked sad. "I get at least a thousand letters from dying children you know?" She closed her eyes and you felt like scum at that moment. "This isn't a blessing you know? I mean I can fix you, but it's not something nice in the end. The powers I give aren't cruel, but the life is. Even at my weakest empowerment, I'm still giving people a loaded gun." Damsel opened her eyes, and you caught a glimpse of determination. "If I'm going to give people guns then, they have to be solid and responsible. You are."

You still haven't gotten your hand back, but you gesture with your other one to yourself. "I've been in the hospital for years. How is that responsible?"

"You raged and cried, but in the end, you arranged your last will and testament. " Damsel's face quirked into a small smile. "You did what you could to help others. Our background checks are pretty thorough you know? Also, and this seems cold, you don't have a girlfriend, but you have family and your close to them. Stability, and just a hint of bravery too."

You barked out a laugh. "If you say so." Your throat hurts just a bit. Talking is painful nowadays.

"I do say so." The woman replied archly, and finally let go of your hand. Then moved around to the back of your wheelchair. "Now, tell me your greatest dream."

You laugh just a bit, and have to choke down bile as your nausea starts. "Honestly? I just want to move."

"That's not your greatest dream." Damsel pushed the wheelchair. "You know what I had as a dream?" You can't see her, but she seems sad. "I wanted to go to college, study art, and maybe be one of those trendy art teachers. Perhaps learn history. Paint maybe?" The chuckle is soft and almost mocking. "Look at me now."

You know bitterness. You've lived it for what seems like a lifetime. "We can't always get what we want."

"You can." Damsel states softly. "What was your dream before all of this?"

"Race-car driver." You feel the tears coming. "Wanted to be a race-car driver. Now, well." You flop a hand. You had been diagnosed after you had felt dizzy working on cars. Now, you can't even pick up a wrench.

"Then race for me." Damsel whispered as she pushed your wheelchair and it takes you a moment to realize that she let go at the end. You blink and are about to stop yourself when the change hits.

Everyone says something different about the change. Like being dropped into a sauna, getting shocked, or being in a roller coaster. For you, it was like hitting the acceleration on a car. Slamming down on the pedal and feeling the rush of power.

Your wheelchair has a small motor in it. It wheels you around, and frankly is about the only independence you've had for months. You couldn't even go to the bathroom without assistance. Frankly you had cherished the times you'd been able to just do your own thing with it. Even if it hadn't been much. Now you use it, and the chair speeds.

You'd call it hilarious if you hadn't been having the most fun you'd had in years. You go around the room twice before you realize exactly what has happened. Then you're able to tentatively step off the chair unaided.

Damsel looks like she's holding back a laugh when you look at her, but you're too delighted to care.

Power - Wheeled vehicles are enhanced under your command. While inside them you can double their speed. Inertia and momentum are maintained, but you or passengers are not effected. Furthermore, the vehicles and passengers are far more durable than normal so long as they're under your command.

What is your hero name?

[]?

Do things like roller-blades and stuff like that count as wheeled vehicles? If so we could be much more mobile even without cars or whatever.
