No one voted Willpower? Really?

Huh.

Well, switching to Gun is probably the easiest way to up the combat power. It relies on Dex, we have Dex out the wazoo. Easy.

Still, if we could max out physical attributes, I admit that would be pretty beast. Without the Willpower we can't really do a true terminator/determinator, but we'd come close. Less T-800, more T-1000. Still vulnerable to headshots, but we'd still be extraordinarily difficult to kill. Perhaps powerful enough that we can hire ourselves out? Get someone more social/mental specced to help/hire us in exchange for us being a beastly combatant. Or establish ourselves as practically a force of nature that needs to be worked around instead of against.

Course, poison and assassination is a thing and we have no uncanny dodge. Besides the Dex bit. We could carve out a niche out of a pile of bodies.

May not end up quite that powerful though, we'll still be running on rolls. All it takes is one bad streak to ruin us.

Let's try and avoid fights where we can, and when we get caught in one, not get hit in the first place.
Besides, don't need to be a tank with our coat unless we lose it. And anything that could punch through that is going to kill us anyways no matter how beefy our stats are.

With Social and Knives, we can Surprise/Sneak attack and that's a scary thing to have in Roanpur.

It's a bulletproof coat. It's not a blunt-object-proof coat, or a fist-proof coat, or a sharp-edged-weapon-proof coat.

Any chance of our fancy bulletproof coat also having hidden pockets/weapons?

Not that it's not powerful as it is, but for all the cash poured into it you'd think it might have a few other tricks. Concealed weaponry/tools is a handy one. Treat it as hammerspace (within reason) for gear and it would simplify things.

Especially if we do end up choosing guns. Walking armory would be fun. Concealed knives works too.

No problem. Just saying, there are limits to what the coat does. And the Martial Artist build would be helped more by extra Soak than the other two, which can be used at a range and are more likely to outright kill an opponent.

Also if anyone new wants to vote, just indicate you're new. We're still voting on Motivation, Role, and Weapons. Aka Revenge, Guilt, or Curiosity; Consiglieri, Enforcer, or Fixer; and Guns, Knives, or Yourself (Martial Arts + Improvised).

Well, a male character won overwhelmingly. Pity because Saber in her black suit would have been a pretty decent character illustration. I don't have any suitable images for yon male character, but if someone finds something cool they might get a bonus if it is sufficiently cool.

Why not just use the already existing in-universe Lotton and actually make him a badass character instead of a joke that he was in canon?

Yeah, uh, no hammerspace. You could hide a small SMG or a shotgun in the trenchcoat, though of course it'd stand out if searched. You could conceal either a few knives from cursory search or carry around a lot of throwing knives in the coat, depending on what you're going for, but on the whole the coat is already powerful enough.

Why am I not writing Lotton-in-name-only instead of an original character with a completely different background, plot arc, and basic mentality? Really, do you have to ask that?

I wouldn't really call Rotton a joke.

He's silly, true, but he actually accomplished some hilarious stuff, that few other people have.

He got shot by Revy, and lived.

He saved Shenhua, and Sawyer. He actually managed to save people. In Black Lagoon.

He survived a direct groin kick by Terminator-Maid. Who bit a chainsaw blade off. OFF.

He's actually living in an apartment, and teamed up with Sawyer and Shenhua.

This man is not quite a joke.

Fair enough, figured it was worth asking. Armory would have been nice. A concealed weapon, or maybe some small stuff like a derringer in the sleeve, is decent.

Plenty of throwing knives is actually pretty close to what I meant by simplifying things. Instead of figuring out where we're keeping the metal on our person, just say it's in the tricked out coat. No complaints on my part.

Forgot about the square jaw bit. And yeah, he's kinda pretty-boy in the face and could be mistaken for a model, but I figured him having some shoulders and obvious muscle would help. Little bit like Dante or Vergil.

Well, I'll see if anyone else comes to mind.

Have you actually seen him doing anything though? I can't seem to remember him shooting anything, except maybe the mooks in the Baille de la Muerte arc. All his appearance is just him posing and getting owned for one reason or the other.

and my memories is fuzzy, but I thought Roberta bit off Shenhua's kukri and just used her gun to smash Sawyer's chainsaw, or did they change that in the anime version?

Well, decent male, black hair, green eyes that aren't chick bait with smoldering looks are not easy to find. It's not a common combination. Never mind adding in the stubble, a square jaw, and a trenchcoat. Really idealized.
