Oh Dear, the extra focusing kept the beam field from collapse where it should and compacted the beam, further enhancing its piercing factor.

While not a nuke, this will be FAR more impressive and shit your pants terrifying. If spun the right way, it would make the superstitious ones start whispering all kinds of rumors in sight of the disaster caused by the mysterious ships.

This also offers to FoF Kongou's mindset a far more terrifying option besides Pudding to wreak havoc in the Suez channel for shits and giggles.

Seriously, though. This is Britannia we're talking about. The natives are either long since dead or slaves wishing they were. Heck, any surviving natives are probably worshipping the FoF like avenging angels.

I'm not sure. If you take Japan as an example of Britannian policy, they don't proactively go around genociding the natives. Just let them live in ghetto in shitty conditions, and will go slaughter a few ten of thousands when they get to uppity, obviously.

Though even with that the death toll would be enormous, admittedly.

Of course, Britannia might been more lenient now than it was in the past...
 
I cannot help but feel the cannon malfunction and then the unanticipated side effects are fiat. For the former, these are purpose-built naval vessels we're discussing, making any malfunction that results from seawater an egregious design flaw or the sort of catastrophic oversight that leads to firings and multi-billion dollar lawsuits. For something like the Fog to make such an error...strains the suspension of disbelief.

Similarly, you have just shown us that they did in fact calculate the effects of their shot and anticipated a certain effect that was grossly exceeded by results. For something with a literal supercomputer for a mind, this seems flawed.

To a degree true, but remember Muphy's Law. There was an floating oil rig that someone left a porthole open on only for a storm to blow water inside the room. The room in question was the pontoon control room so when water got in it shorted out the computers causing the whole damn thing to capsize.

You just gotta remember; F.I.S.H.

True, but that's human error. Fog ships...aren't. They literally have subroutines that cover basic preventative maintenance, it's not something they're capable of just "forgetting" or overlooking. If it was just the cannon over-penetration it would make sense, unidentified variables throwing off their otherwise accurate calcs. The cannon malfunction, on the other hand, makes no sense at all. It's brand new, undamaged, and being used in routine operations. It's already been underwater for some time and is designed to be fired underwater by its very nature, there's no clear reason for its waterproofing or redundant systems to just...not work.

Having Mental Models makes that whole point moot. The Fog gained Mental Models for the entire point of being human.

    It is somewhat more of a self-reference through Gundam quotes as a medium. Though not perfect because this is FOG!Poi instead of a reincarnated Yuudachi.
