That's a different kind of illness really. Also, yeah, more people who understand "gynoid" is an actual term- "female android" is like saying "that's a female man"…
Welcome to the descriptivist view of language, where android means "robot what looks like a human regardless of gender" and the hell with the greek roots. Helped by the fact that the term android predates the word gynoid by at least a century.

Which also gets into modern literary debates about "mankind" and "man" being gendered even in instances where in historical literature, the context clearly indicated that the terms were referring to homo sapiens in general, without prejudice to sex.

A female jedi that wears a full shirt, pants, and robe, what madness is this?

a Female Twi'lek wearing sensible and non-skimpy clothing, even more rare!

(there are actually a number of female Jedi who wear fairly full sets of robes- Adi Gallia's outfit was the reference for Ky's In this picture, Bariss Offee and her Master both wear fairly sensible outfits. On the other hand, Ahsoka.)

as for the character herself, she's my character in a long-running Star Wars FFG game, set during the time period 10 years after revenge of the Sith, up to… well, right now we're barrelling right towards the events of A New Hope, although things are *heavily* AU right now.

What is the context for this scene? Is it some kind of lovecraftian hybrid creation or just an unusual religious ceremony?

So basically it's a rite of passage for people who can change shape, to prove that they can be boring and not change anymore, they basically drown them and if they stay the same until unconscious, they pass. The fishwoman is a crit fail.

For more details, you'll have to ask Squishy.

People want that? Ya think shapeshifters would be proud of themselves…

I mean, maybe they're worried about inquisitors or something? People who unconsciously shift aren't allowed outside because they might put the whole group in danger?

Yeah, supressing the ability that allows you to not die sounds like a bad idea. I think it's a big fat "this is a metaphor for transphobia/conformity".

One of the two probably, doesn't seem very rational to suppress such a useful ability unless it is to hide / avoid accidentally revealing themselves.
