I don't reamember but they reverse engineered imperial tech that was either given them bu Eldars or from crashed imperial ship . My fluff on it is rusty .
You kind of imply this, but also a full admech "pipeline" under our control. Meaning being able to take someone from Aspirant to Magos without farming them out to other Admech factions.

Fabricator General of Mars, and centralize the Mechanicum it is then.
Let's make cheap mass producible personal energy shields. That would be a big upgrade to grunts.

Not specifically, but he knows its happening and wants to make sure we survive it mostly intact.
He would be perfectly fine to have someone share the goals, but if things reach a breaking point he will take charge. Failure of Ork extermination before they hit critical mass is one such event.

The next day night cycle finds you squirreled away within another uplink facility studying dossiers and other things. All needed to handle the forces you would be gaining. The nominal control of more the fourteen thousand ground troops, and the much larger sum of one hundred and twenty-five thousand crew on the spaceships. Just a staggering amount that you were unsure of how to handle. Though now as you think on it that might be somewhat arrogant considering your technical responsibilities. You were an administrator for the immediate survey and dig crew, not a military commander. Best get that mindset straight.
The forces you are assigned are drawn from various sectors on the forgeworld, each with their own command structure already integrated into a cohesive whole. Hopefully. The first group will be House Taranis, a company of knights and three regiments of levy troops. High grade knights and middling infantry with minimal support equipment/weapons. Then there is the native Dobarian unit, an overstrength independent Battalion Combat Team(BCT). A well equipped infantry based unit with everything from attached aerospace force to its own knight company.
The knights of House Taranis are a proud group, trained deep within the soil of Phobos from young. The Neural Catacombs, the most advanced mix of hologram and AR integration were pivotal in their training. The sites easily configured to create almost any environment known to man. They could spend subjective years going through each and every known battlefield to hone their skills. This theoretical training of course cannot work without some live experience which is why many forgeworlds receive detachments of their knights to train in actual battle. Some of them grow into their own independent houses. Which also is part of the reason you are receiving this fresh detachment. The laudable goals of gaining experience and growing closer ties between houses. Not so likely in your experience but it would have to do.
You personally dislike House Taranis, nothing that was done to you specifically but they were not exactly the image of jolly cooperation. Last you remember they were more aligned with the radical elements compared to your own central leanings. As it stands their force generally matches your own numbers if not exceeds them. That will need to be accounted for when they deploy, oh the problems with interunit cooperation will be fierce. Especially with the Dobarian knight unit which hopefully is a professional military unit and not a feudal based one. Otherwise you will be stuck playing negotiator.... Oh the horrors. In this case at least it will not be like with the local knight worlds, less chance of duels solved physically at least thanks to simulators if one wants to find a silver lining.
Looking through the naval focus you find the ships that were outlined earlier. The two light cruisers are the Flame of Emotion and the Strength of Creation, Cawsand Bay class light cruisers. Both are based on armed exploration ship designs from the Confederation era though adapted for more modern ship building and technology. They hold a relatively minor suite of weapons, though considering they can still scorch entire towns off the grid that is something. Their main force in space will be their aerospace contingnets, a regiment each of craft. The Flame will hold the House Taranis forces while the Strength will hold the Dobarian forces. Next are three destroyers, Nettle Gravelind classes. Spinally mounted main weapons and an assortment of missile alongside more conventional railgun batteries means that they can savage just about anything from other escorts to heavy cruisers.
Going through the target list however shows you why such a force was put together so quickly. There were three confirmed escort weight transports crashed at the site you were to excavate, in human terms that is nine potential regiments. Men of Iron transports likely carried closer to four or five depending on contents and extent of support facilities. The extent of the crash however was predicted to have cut the surviving numbers to perhaps half at the least and a third at the most if they were fully loaded. Regardless they would need the local Noteran knight world forces. They were Mechanicum affiliates by dint of not having stronger ties with any others then in having strong bonds with the Mechanicum. If pushed they would be willing to aid but were not devoted by any ideological means even if they followed a form of the Memoriam Quaerere. The predicted contribution was twelve regiments of lightly equipped levy infantry and a battalion force of knights and their attendant battlemech units.
The issue besides the for sure to be political mess is that Notera was an airless ball. An expansion by the House of Armnard from their original homeworld of Cisnomia, it housed a number of arcologies around the rich mining sites that were the lifeblood of the world. Everyone would be needing to equip the necessary Void equipment for such conditions. The crashed set of Men of Iron transports being on the far side from the developed settlements would make orbital resupply easier then ground side support. The two ships you would be using as transports would contain dedicated workshops that could allow your forces to act independently as long as they had a sufficient resource stockpile, you knew that negotiations with the Armnard House were ongoing for providing resources for your vessels so that you would not need to worry for the easier bulk raw materials.
As you looked over your administrative handler's notes about the ongoing negotiations you received your own notice from procurement. Going through you scowl at seeing the acceptance and rejection notices. Starting from the top was that your request for a Rouncey military transport vehicle was denied, though the aid you were promised seemed to have gotten you a consolation prize. Instead of the Federation standard transport you received the local equivalent. Where the original Rouncey was a tracked and repulsor equipped vehicle you received a more crab like walker. The Atholl class of vehicles like Rouncey transports could hold an entire squad of heavy power armoured troops with the necessary support equipment. While not as heavily armed as a Rouncey there was a greater complement of C3 equipment for you to make use of.
Your next notice was a surprising one, you had not only gotten your request for personal Volkite weaponry you got beyond that. You would need to thank the helpful bureaucrat later. Instead of the militia grade weapons you expected you received military models the same as what the frontline forces of the forgeworld would have. A pistol and rifle alongside mounting to use them in power armour if needed. This was included most of the data needed to personally maintain them along with permanent ownership certification and training memenomics. Not as good as regular training but you were not going to be a soldier, anyway you hoped at least.
Your request for a mobile workshop module however sadly was stuck in a bureaucratic quagmire. The legalise was dense but basically summed to be that you were on a waiting list. Perhaps after the expedition has been well underway will you get the various permissions needed sorted out. You did not even get that hope for your request for laboratory equipment. This was a simple flat out rejection of your request. The reasoning being that your stated circumstances did not require such equipment until after the site had been well established and recommended you use the facilities on the ships you were already allocated. Somewhat foolish in your eyes but not much else you could do thanks to all the restrictions on getting such things.
Your last and comparatively simple requests got through thankfully. You had requested an upgrade to your portable scanner and got it. Not the bleeding edge but a solid upgrade to your equipment. Oh and you also got that knife you had ordered as well. Just in case it was needed you received a multipurpose combat knife. The Kabash knife was quite a common commodity for frontier forces. Consisting of a main monomolecular blade and a comparatively dulled secondary sheath blade for everyday utility use. This you bought with your own funds rather then deal with the hassle of more form filling. You also bought a good holster for it to carry around everyday. Now if you could learn those knife tricks you saw back in your merc days... No that would be for later when you had the leisure time for it. Instead you had to get continue getting ready for your upcoming assignment. Hmmm, yes one cannot be the leader of an expedition without knowing who you would be in charge of. The kick off time was coming up shortly even if the administration still refused to give you a proper deadline, you were not sure why that was the case.

Anyway, I'm not good with the whole military tactics thing so I take leave of suggestion for improvement on that front but making nice with the nobles is probably something we should prioritize somewhere. Friends in high places are useful.
Okay the only ties we have right now are for whether you are visiting the quartermasters or the naval crews. Anyone wants to try to change this before I arbitrarily decide can do so.
