Yeah - wow, in Australia that would of been punishable by law due to gross neglect.
Ana is really adorable though - hopefully our plan to turn her into a neckbeard (hard Sci-FI books) will cheer her up.

You gasp, sitting up quickly. You rub your eyes to get the sleep out of them. Weird, you don't remember going to sleep last night. Must've fallen out after the adrenaline high of seeing Anastasia in danger wore off. Groggily, you stretch out your arms and reach over to rub Anastasia's head. You frown as you don't feel the soft lump of skin in her crib, only the velvety sheets she sleeps in. Rubbing your eyes a bit more, you focus onto the little wooden basket.
"...Oh no."
You start to rush around the room, the adrenaline from last night returning full force. Sheets and fallen clothes fly through the air in your search for your daughter. They didn't come back did they? Oh god, what if that first thing was just the scout? Did they take her? Please don't let them have—
You freeze as you hear the sound of your bathroom door opening. You spin around on the spot, ready to tackle anyone or anything that comes through that door. You take up a stance as you see something that only reaches up to your thighs come out of your bathroom with...one of your towels on its head.
"What the—", you are completely floored right now. The...whatever it is grabs the towel around its head with pale, human like arms and begins to shake it to and fro. Tiny droplets of water drop onto the carpet, mottling the brown fuzz as they hit the floor.
You here a small, girlish sigh, as whatever it is removes the towel and you behold…
..A five year old girl.
She's wearing that grayish T-shirt you bought at Wal-mart the day before, along with matching pants that reach all the way to her ankles. Her physique is lithe, looking almost like a Barby Doll in how thin her arms and legs are. Skin as pink and soft looking as the day she was born covers her body, as her arms reach up to adjust her back length blonde hair. However, that's not what tips you off. It's the eyes.
Those same dark, starry eyes of your Anastasia stare back at you as the little girl takes notice of you.
Your body relaxes, and you slowly walk forward, as the words from the Journal ring out in your head. Taking a chance, you breathe in deep and say with as much care as you can muster, "Sweety? Is that you?"
Trust = 6 = Pass
The girl blinks once, then her mouth (filled with the flat teeth of a normal human) quirks up in a smile, "Hello, father." When she speaks, you hear two voices instead of one. One sounds like a normal human girl, the type that goes to school and loves to talk about her favorite TV show. The other one though, it sounds like something...older. Like a historian that has been around since the Pyramids were built.
Your daughter twirls in place, showing off her body for whatever reason, "I decided to base my new form off of what my memories tell me is considered the 'standard' idea of beauty for you humans. I think I pulled it off pretty well."
Impulsively, you walk forward and hug her close to you. You say to her, "I'm so sorry about last night. If only I had—"
"Father, it is fine," she pushes you off of her, not roughly though and looks you in the eyes, "It is common for humans to make mistakes. You are all still infants after all, with no idea as to how insignificant you really are."
"Insignificant?" You ask, watching as she starts to disentangle herself from you, "So, it's really true then? That there are Cthulhuian Horrors out there just waiting to kill us all off?"
You follow her out of the room, feeling both relieved, and a bit confused. Is she supposed to act like this? You know she's not necessarily human, but based on what you've read she's still considered a child when it comes to Eldritch Abominations. But she seems so...mature. Her speech seemed a bit too proper to be a little girl, and the way she marches purposely towards the kitchen seems a bit too focused for a the Eldritch equivalent of a five year old.
"In answer to your first question, yes there are. Though they don't really want to kill off humanity," she says as she pours milk into a bowl and puts it in the microwave to heat it up, "to them you're little more than a small speck caught up in the Cosmic waves of the Universe and Beyond.
The microwave dings, and she quickly takes out the bowl of hot milk. You see her smile as she walks into the living room and sits on the sofa, "In answer to your second question, to you humans I might as well be considered a Grand Elder. Based on your archaic aging system, my true age would be about…..110 years old, give or take a few hundred years. However, in terms of the "Elder Gods" as you call them, I am still considered a tiny child that has barely stopped suckling from my mother's teat."
You ready a retort, but she holds up a hand, "And before you ask, yes I can read minds. Yes, I promise not to make a habit out of it." Your retort dies in your throat as she starts to, quite literally, chug down the milk in her bowl. You approach slowly, and sit down next to her waiting for her to finish. It doesn't take long before she sighs contentedly, as she wipes the milk away from her mouth.
"Ah. My first sampling of human food outside of my infantile form. It is...acceptable at the very least. Yes, I believe it will serve to keep me sated when there isn't a better alternative."
You nod assent and silence falls upon the both of you. You fidget a bit, primarily because you're not one hundred percent sure how to proceed. You've never been much of a "people" person, and have hardly held down a conversation for more than a few minutes. So, you do what you always do when you're not sure how to proceed in a conversation.
Fall back on the one thing that you know: Teaching.
"So, um, sweetie," she looks up at you, tilting her head inquisitively, "now that you're, uh, 'physically' older...we need to set some 'Ground Rules' for later reference."
She nods in agreement, and seems to wait for your input.
"First, you're gonna have to go to school since you are now, by human standards, a five year old."
"As expected," she replies, idly kicking her feet against the cushions, "I had figured that you would enroll me in the school you work at."
"Right, that's, right. Second, your, um, form."
"What about it? Is something wrong with it," she starts to look her body over, checking for any errors in it, "I was almost certain that I copied the look perfectly."
"That's the thing. You do look perfect. Too perfect."
She nods her head in understanding, "Oh, I see. Humans may constantly reach for perfection, but perfection in and of itself is impossible to obtain. Thus, no human can ever truly look perfect. I'll need to make some changes on our way to school. If this rain lets up." As if to empathize that point, lighting flashes, briefly illuminating the living room. It is soon followed by the crack of thunder.
"Next, is more of a question."
"Oh."
"Your powers, because I'm assuming you have powers based on last night, can you control them?"
"If what you're asking is, 'Will I go on a crazy, murderous rampage because my powers get out of control?' then the answer is no. While I may still be considered weak by Godly standards, I have full control over my powers. Though they are bit diminished while I am in this form, they are still rather potent." To prove this, you see her former crib float into the living room, and set itself down upon the floor without nary a sound.
"Now, if I were in my true form...well let's just say that I could make a Class 5 Tornado look like a small dust storm." You see her smile predatorily at that admission, and a cold shiver goes up your spine.
However, it does cause you to think of something, "Speaking of which, your true form. Most of the Cthulhuian Horrors I have read about seem to favour..um...well…"
"Tentacles," she bluntly puts it, "they favour forms based around tentacles."
"Well, yes."
"Do not worry, father. My true form is mine and mine alone, and I can make it look like whatever I want. I can even make it humanoid if I wished. But, I don't think I should show it off here, since it will most likely cause half the neighborhood to seize up and die."
Silence falls on you again, before she speaks up, "Besides, tentacles are gross."
You chuckle slightly at that, "You're an Eldritch Horror, something that can easily level an entire metropolis if someone so much as looked at you funny, and you consider tentacles to be gross?" By now your chuckle has grown into a full blown laugh, and you're forced to hold your sides else they split down the middle.
Anastasia blushes furiously as she watches you writhe on the couch, "It is—a completely legitimate feeling. Not—all of the Elder Gods favour tentacles in their forms."
You just keep laughing for a solid minute before you calm down and wipe a tear from your eye. Anastasia speaks up again, "Alright, now I have a request for you."
You ask her what it is, and for the first time you see her get a bit nervous. You raise an eyebrow, as you watch her fidget in her seat. Then you see one of the paperback Sci-fi books you bought from Wal-mart float up into her lap. She holds the book out to you, refusing to meet your eyes as she speaks, "You have to—read one of these to me whenever I want. It is—rather—pleasant reading with you."
You look at the book and smile down at it. You grab a hold of it, and scoot over until your arm is around Anastasia's shoulders. You open the book and read off the title:

Ok, so here's how Anastasia's Actions work:
Anastasia will choose what to spend her Actions on on her own. So you do not have to choose them for her. You can still choose them, however it will be considered you asking her to complete the action. (For example: [X] Read a Book = "Anastasia, can you please read this book for daddy?" or [X] Sense Eldritch = "Honey, can you please check to see if any more of those Shadow Creatures are in the house right now?"
Whether she does it or not depends on the level of Trust you have with you.
Keep in mind, that if you ask her to complete an Action, and the roll fails, then you will lose Trust with her for the fail.
Also, MERRY CHRISTMAS, HANUKKAH, ETC. TO ALL!
