[X] More forbidden lore, so you can place the scroll with it and remember where they all are.
If we need to use forbidden texts to pull off badass magic to hit out of our weight class, I don't want to just throw the option away, even if we don't go for it. If we need to burn it all to save the people, I also don't want to be ignorant of our surroundings.
Why on earth would we want to hide the scroll here, in the Guild Library where adventurers from all over the township are going to be traipsing around searching for useful or interesting books all day everyday? That's a terrible idea, I thought the ostensible reason for stealing the scroll in the first place was to ensure that no one else would accidentally stumble upon it like we did?
I'd like to get some generic writing to test our Dominate Writing skill on, just in case it does something like "consumes the writing for power" and burns it up upon activation. Not something I want to risk the Forbidden Scroll on yet, because we can't replace it and we'd lose our current Title if that happened.
Welp, I hope that we can get Connection with Beyond next level, it sounds really cool and might let us bless ourselves/use Miracles like a Priest (eventually, anyway)

We might be able to Dominate a slime and farm their duplicates whenever we have spare time to get a bunch of cores to sell.
Firstly, it wouldn't really be Forbidden Knowledge or Lore if it was available in the entry area of the Guild Library, a place meant to provide the basic information for Adventurer survival, would it?
Secondly, this is more targeted at everyone who has suggested hiding it somewhere, the justification for stealing the scroll was to protect innocents and yet since your character owns no property of his own hiding it would leave it an area far less secure than the Temple's records room. Basically I'm saying that is grounds for losing the 'Heroes can be Thieves Right?' title as well, at least unless you can create or purchase a secure enough location to stow it away.
Finally, that's actually a fairly solid idea Ivy, bonus experience will be provided for such an unconventional, but likely profitable idea.

Ah, but given how slimes reproduce could the magic differentiate one slime from another given it would split itself apart into multiple ones as it could still be considered one organism? If it did stick with just one, which one would it even pick?

We could possibly grind the Slime until it becomes a Queen Slime or whatever archetype that typically is, then we'd know that the cores are coming with unique IPs? A bit more investment than originally planned, so it's nothing that could happen sooner than double checking with a normal one, but might be worth more than the default cores.
With your reading finished you decide it's about time to pick up some more work, going to need to pay for an inn some how or another. Placing the books back in their place, you then turn and leave the library and head out into the lobby. While a few hours had passed during your reading the lobby was just as packed as before.
You have to worm your way through the crowd to reach the Board, but thankfully you find most of the previous options still there. Of course, there is a new temporary request on the board that seems rather urgent. Delivery work, you'd need to leave the town but you would be on the highway which is relatively safe thanks to patrols.
Payment: Thirty Coppers, 15 GP, 1 Rank Advancement Point, 10 Experience Description: I need an extra set of hands or two to help bring in the harvest, if you're willing then please take this request and come to * Farm.
Payment: 1 Silver, 50 GP, 1 Rank Advancement Point, 15 Experience Description: I could use a second set of eyes to go over my books for the year's income. If you have the time and skill then please make your way to the Jolly Fox Inn after taking this request.
Payment: 1 Silver, 50 GP, 1 Rank Advancement Point, 20 Experience Description: I need someone to deliver a package to my brother at a guard post north of town, the one on the North Highway near the forest. Anyone willing please take my request, the receptionists can tell you how to find me.
Payment: 50 Copper per 3 Golden Leaf (Quality does matter), Variable GP, Variable Rank Advancement Points, Variable Experience Description: I have need of as many Golden Leaf as you can get your hands on, quality is important so insure proper storage. Titles: They Who Seek the Crown (Level One, 10/25) - A title earned by gaining the blessing of the God of War in a chance encounter with his will. It is a boon granted to those who seek to become like Lords, towering above the world with every action and word capable of bringing great waves of change. Currently it is weak and only grants you the power of Domination, but if you grow stronger and perform in a way that meshes with this Boon then perhaps its strength can grow. I wonder if we can Dominate Vicious Rabbits and turn them on their fellows sequentially until we've cleared a field? Even if "our" Rabbits die, we'd still get their ears and hides, and we just Dominate the next one to replace it, getting more experience for the Skill in the process. Use our axe to cut a simple wooden cudgel beforehand if we need to fight any directly to take the guide's advice to not damage the pelts?
Bookkeeping is fine too, and certainly safer, I'm just curious about combat.
[X] Exterminate Vicious Rabbits
We should probably check out a botany book or something tomorrow to help us with Golden Leaf harvesting, that sounds like it could be the fastest way to advance if we do it right.
It's really not a hard choice when you think about it, you've never really done strenuous labor before and as a man with utterly no combat skills aside from the Dominate power you obtained when you were blessed. Even that is rather limited considering you can only control two creatures with it, but wait...
That gives you an idea, what if you used it to Dominate a slime and allowed it to naturally replicate under your control? Would those spawned from it count as Dominated creatures as well, would you be able to use it to control and direct a slime into variance, and could you potentially use it as an unlimited supply of slime cores?
Wait, no. You quickly shake your head and take the notice for bookkeeping off the Board, you can work on that idea later, before heading towards the receptionists for the second time in your career. Money and advancement is more important right now, especially if you want to obtain any degree of strength before you end up having to go out to prod a monster for the first time.
Once again the same receptionist that attended you in your registration is the person handling your case, a little odd but you've seen quite a bit weirder in the past week all things considered. She gives you a faint smile, informs you that your quest is registered, and then ushers you out of the way for the next person in line. You leave the Guild pondering on how odd vents are becoming the norm for you, you've not even got that far in your Adventuring life and yet you're already getting amazed at every turn... It's so damned interesting compared to your life at the School!
A laugh escapes you causing a few people nearby to give you rather concerned glances before hurriedly looking away, a small sense of embarrassment hitting you as you hurry your steps towards this Jolly Fox Inn. What awaits you is a rather simple, white-washed three story building with a sign bearing a painting a grinning fox laying beside an overturned mug. People flow in and out with regularity, the sun beginning to set in the distance declaring the start of peak hours for these establishments.
Following the throng inside leads to an ambush of sudden noise as the sound of dozens of conversations at everything from inside voice to outright shouting enters your ears. Frowning, you force your way past a few people who utter short curses before noticing your scholarly attire, most often a sign of those working for the Lord of the Township's office. Behind the bar is a barrel chested man with skin the color of a bronze, his arms easily large enough to surpass the size of your head which is a terrifying fact even if you do have a somewhat diminutive stature. A white beard and mustache combo trembles as his voice, deep and vaguely reminiscent of... why is your brain associating granite with sound?
"Do ya mind explainin what you're pushin my customers aside for Little Scholar? My establishment doesn't allow cuttin lines if that's what ya thinkin."
You ignore the man's complete ignoring of the letter 'g's existence as you fumble out your Guild Card, the glares staring daggers into your back disappearing once people catch sight of you holding it up for him.
"You, uh, placed a request at the Guild for someone to look over your account records. I'm here to handle that."
After scrutinizing the Card for a second the man's grim look turns into a faint smile as he raises one hand up to rub his bald head.
"Sorry bout the rude greetin then, come on back and go through into the employee area. Larry will take care of ya and show ya the books. LARRY, GOT A SCHOLAR LOOKING FELLOW HERE FROM THE GUILD, SHOW HIM TO THE BOOKS!"
That last sentence is spoken in a yell and you can almost feel your damn brain rattling in response. Also, did he seriously just drop the A from ab- you know what? Forget about it, your brain already hurts at the idea of contemplating that. You head on through to the back via a portion of the bar that the bartender raises up for you, passing from the crowded room into a short and plain white hallway with a short blonde kid standing in it. Oh boy, he does not look happy. Who pissed this brat off?
"I'm Larry, no need for you to introduce yourself, we won't be talking again. Ignore the lummox tending the bar, the ledgers are in the back office. Can't believe that gorilla of a man doesn't trust my work."
A rather high-pitched voice comes from Larry as he wipes his hands on the apron he's wearing before leading you to a solid black door at the end of the hall, a sign saying "Boss' Office, Keep Out" hanging on it which the kid promptly ignores. Inside is a mess of an office, papers and thin notebooks tossed everywhere, empty bottles of ale scattered on the floor, and a number of mostly bare bookshelves covered in cobwebs surrounding a single massive red wood desk. pointing at a pile of books on the table next to some candles the kid speaks up,
"Those are the ledgers, the top book is an empty notebook, and the candles are there if you take too long. Don't touch anything else, I'll be checking on you periodically and if you're rummaging through our stuff the guards will be here in seconds to throw you in jail. Now, I have real work to do. Good luck finding something wrong with my work."
Spinning on his heels, the kid charges back past you and enters a door adjacent to the one to the bar leaving you to enter the office in utter confusion. Whoever raised a kid that spiteful must be one hateful ball of anger.
How do you proceed? [] Immediately get to work, no point on worrying about anything else honestly.
[] Poke around at the books on the shelves.
[] Snoop in the papers scattered about.
[] Clean this filthy office first.
[] Write-in.
You can feel a tinge of hunger coming on, it has been all day since you ate after all...
[] Go ask the big guy at the bar about getting some food real quick.
[] Poke your head in where Larry entered and inquire about getting a meal.
[] Worry about food after your work is done.
