1 - The Wish I Will Make

Shiranui

The Yakuza's Golden Dragon
Location
Schroedinger's Box

It was a dark, rainy night in Hoozuki City.

Kyubey had been aware that Homura had restarted the cycle. And yes, he was highly observant of her anomaly-like existence. Incubators like himself were a hive mind, and had very distinctive memory capabilities. Their memories were like of a photographic type, as humans would call it. But theirs had infinite more potential than these humans. Incubators remembered key events. Even if that Homura girl thought he didn't remember, he had full entire awareness. He was just putting up a front, like all humans themselves did. Lying must be a very key attribute in this species survival tactics.

Besides, didn't she see how useless it was, anyways? No matter how she changed the story, she was destined to fail anyways. Because of this, he knew that regardless of the outcome, it was just a waste of everyone's time. Humans were so oddly attached. If Madoka Kaname truly meant somebody to Homura Akemi, she should just let her die and let him win. Simple. Rudimentary. No strings attached.

There was no point in Homura's struggle in the end, really.

The more she rewound time, the more threads of fate wrapped around Madoka's existence, further entangling her to the point of no return. Humans could never let go of anything, and it burdened their existence. And even if they did let go, well... it took time. Time was something that Kyubey didn't have at the moment, considering he wanted to save the universe from dying.

He had to work even harder considering of Suzune Amano had come into play now. It wasn't like Kyubey was a fool. He allowed her wish, although he didn't expect for her to become a magical girl hunter. The poor girl probably thought she was actually saving them from their pain by killing them off.

As Kyubey recalled, after he told her about the magical girl system and how the magical girls became witches for them to hunt, she immediately rejected it. Suzune told him that she will kill the magical girls to prevent more witches being born into the world. Then again, had that girl considered the possibility that it would force his hand to make more of them to compensate for the losses? Kyubey cared not really if she knew or not. The important point was that the more she killed, the more would be created in retaliation.

Those who were in deep despair, clinging onto a shred of hope... there were plenty of girls who suffered this inclination. Why not make a wish to make their troubles go away? Sure, he didn't specify what it meant to be a magical girl. Then again, do they ever have the time to ask that question?

So here Kyubey was, out on the hunt to create more magical girls or to keep in contact with those he had already contracted with. The town that Suzune currently resided in had been practically decimated in their magical girl count. She surely would come here and stir up trouble. If he really had to commend Suzune on one thing, she did a bang up job in trying to break the system. He'll give some credit in that regard.

Yet like Homura, she too will keep on failing. An endless cycle of failure, regret, bad decisions, and despair will surely teach them the folly of their ways. How could they break a system that has been in place for countless years? In fact, they should thank the Incubators for even existing. Without them, the human race was nothing. Then again, it wasn't even a race to begin with. Considering all the fallacies of humanity, how they make stupid decisions and communicated poorly, their deaths seemed so very insignificant in return.

Hope and despair, if Kyubey would have to describe it, it's like a coin. They were inevitably the same. It would be a fifty-fifty that one would land on either hope or despair. Although it was a one hundred percent guarantee that the coin existed and would torment humanity for many lifetimes to come.

-

Stopping for a moment, he felt the power of a magical girl not too far from him. So. There was a girl destined to become a magical girl within this city. That was unexpected. There weren't many magical girls in Hoozuki City yet, considering that there were few magical signatures. He had to make more, and that would be a lot of work. He would have to do it before Suzune came into this town and convince these kids that Suzune was their enemy, which should be easy, considering most were within the ranges of eight years old to eighteen, susceptible to honeyed words.

Following the trail, he had noticed that he wound up at a school. It was an odd location for the magical girl to be. The rain weighted down Kyubey's fur. He briefly looked up to see the sign to see the school name, however the rain made it difficult to read. Whatever. It was a school, that was where the potential candidate was. Not like the school even mattered, in the long run. Of course, it wasn't going to be that simple to get in. The front doors were apparently locked, since school was closed up for the day and the faculty had gone home. He had to think for a moment. Circling around the area would be the best option, he had quickly found a back door, slightly ajar. Whoever wanted to get in here must had taken the keys out of the faculty office, got in and forgot to shut the door behind them.

Wouldn't a human describe this as a very curious situation, then?

Going through the building, it was eerily silent, except for the rain going on outside. Most humans wouldn't be here after hours. Something was off. Kyubey had been through his share of abandoned buildings. There was no logic in emotions. He didn't fear them. They could be harnessed and controlled, which it seemed like for some species, it was entirely impossible to do so.

The hallways were barren and devoid of laughter of students, and he didn't mind much of that. Humans were loud, prattling creatures, who often cried even over the littlest things. He remembered a magical girl that he contracted at a young age, about ten who had made a mundane, simple wish. He didn't remember the wish. Not like he genuinely cared. She had been a crybaby, always had been. It was the worst when she faced a witch. Kyubey had always assisted, asides from the fact when he told her to run away when that witch kidnapped her friend, both she and her friend died at the hands of the witch.

Her screams would have haunted anyone. On the other hand, Kyubey didn't show remorse for a stupid action. He told her to run. She didn't listen. Life was simply unfair, especially to those who had gentle and weak hearts. She made her choice and life dealt with her choice accordingly and logically.

Rounding a few corners, he also found the door to the roof left ajar. He didn't feel like he had to mentally take note of all the appearance of the school. Schools were a hindrance, considering it left students in there and not making contracts with him. Unless a tragedy happened, then that was a different story. Probably due to the same person rushing to get to the roof. Although the roof was quite a specific place. It took a bit more effort, since this door wasn't as ajar as the last one, and had to squeeze himself through, which was plenty
difficult enough.

As soon as Kyubey outside, he witnessed a girl sitting on the ledge, completely drenched by the rain. He could barely see within the rain of her figure. It was hard to determine that. It brought intrigue to Kyubey though. Who was this girl and why did she, of all people, had the potential to become a magical girl?

Heading up to where the girl was, he had gotten onto her lap, and looked up at her. "I have come to you with a contract. A contract to become a magical girl. When you sign it, you will gain magical powers to fight the beings known as Witches in exchange for your wish. Sort of a give and take process, really. I'll explain more once we get started. By the way, I'm Kyubey. So, won't you make a contract with me and become a magical girl?"

"..." The girl was silent. Kyubey wondered if she was deaf or mute. Then again, he spoke to her telepathically, so maybe she was working on a response. Her mouth opened, and the words tumbled from her lips, telling the magical messenger of her desire...

The Wish That Binds You...

[] What is your first and last name? The story revolves around you, so you at least deserve a proper name, at least that much.
[] Your appearance and your age? After all, image is everything in this world. Hair color, eye color, normal outfit, so on and so forth.
[] What is your personality and backstory like? How did you reach to this point? It couldn't be for no reason entirely, considering the efforts you had taken to get up to the school roof... Although it seems that you are now sitting on the ledge out in the rain. You didn't simply choose the life you had, you are born to it.
[] Make your wish.
- [] The shape of your Soul Gem, your color theme, and your magical costume, then?

Hello again, Sufficient Velocity. It is me, Shiranui. I'm giving another shot at doing a PMMM Quest - this time, it is a reboot of the first one I did. Now that I have a better grasp on questing considering that I have experience of running one successful Quest - being the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure one, which is still running by the way, I feel I can re-roll my chances on this and get this Quest to work out this time. I'm going to note that yes, this character is a blank slate. However, this time around I have a better idea of what is going to go down.

Being that, there's not many rules that I am going to have going on this time around, as long as we have fun and get along, I see no need to get really picky here.

Of course, as you have already noted, there is a free-form wish. That being said, you have quite a bit of potential, but not completely universe shattering. Sort of a build your own character and build your own wish sort of theme going here which might be a big theme and feature in these sorts of Quests. I will give you a couple of days, or depending how it goes. Making a wish is certainly going to be an important factor how things turn out here.

The goal is to ensure that she survives against the trials and tribulations that will come to her, such as the witches, Suzune Amano, Homura Akemi, and many more obstacles who can and will try to snuff out your life. As well as try to break the never-ending time loop of Walpurgisnacht and open the gateway to a new future. Good luck!

Fate can still fuck you over anyways.

2 - Rainy Nighttime

[X] Tomoko Ueda
[X] A youthful girl not even in her second decade. Has a plain, boyish looking bobcut hair colored dark blue bordering black and stormy gray eyes. Currently 16 yrs old.
[X] A girl driven to do what's 'right'. Soft hearted and normally goes with the flow of the situation. She has the capability to adapt but can be easily overwhelmed. The pressures of school and signs of her family falling apart has been becoming too much for her. She's left isolated by her family due to them attempting to keep her out of their affairs, leaving her helpless to mend things between her parents. She simply feels that she's a burden at this point.

[X] I wish I was strong enough so that I won't reach this point again. I want to have a will of steel that'll let me trample down my problems.
-[x] The Star. She'll wear a long open, dark blue long coat with a hood. She'll also be wearing a long pair of boots extending up to her knees with a dark skirt to match the tank top she has underneath her coat. Her theme will be deep blue with the theme of cobalt lights. She'll wield a a star shaped spear with the tip extended into a fine blade.

"This might not be so bad..." You said, having made up your mind. You were tired. So very tired. You weren't sure how you sounded to this creature, who had delivered you this wish.

Kyubey, as he was called, had looked at you. "Well...? Don't keep me in suspense. Make your wish already and become a magical girl!"

Right. Wish. Magical girl. It could help you out in the end. Considering how your family was falling apart and the pressures of school weighing in. You had originally come up to commit the deed of suicide... yet in the end, you couldn't do it. Suicide was one thing you were on the rocks about. For one thing, your life was falling apart and things felt like it was going to collapse and on the other hand, you were too afraid to actually take the plummet. You were all talk, really. You were a coward. And because of this cowardice, you couldn't even commit the act you had planned on doing so.

"I wish I was strong enough so that I won't reach this point again. I want to have a will of steel that'll let me trample down my problems." You declared. Your heart was pounding in your chest. There. You said it. Was it good enough for this cat? Bunny? Catbunny? You didn't know exactly what to think about the magical messenger's appearance...

"Your wish has the power to stop entropy. I can grant it."

All at once, your chest felt like it was on fire. Something was being pulled out of you. Or created from you. You didn't know. All there was had to be an excruciating pain unlike what you have felt before. In a riveting deep blue, with shimmering cobalt lights, an egg-like gem formed, slowly floating down into your hands. It was quite warm. Almost like you were holding a security blanket.

"That, Tomoko Ueda, is your Soul Gem. Keep with you at all times. If you want to change it's form, you can will it." Kyubey had explained to you. "Make it into a ring. Simple to do, really."

"Okay..." With the simple thought of wanting it to be a ring, at first it took a bit of time. Probably because the magic hadn't really kicked in for your body yet. Then it did form into a big silver band on your right ring finger, with a beautifully blue gemstone in the middle and black markings on the ring. The nail on the ring finger had a blue star marking on it now. "Ahh... I did it. Wait, how did you know my name...?"

"Telepathy, Tomoko. Telepathy."

-

As you and Kyubey head away from the school building, it didn't erase the reality that faced you. You were stronger now, but that didn't erase the fact that your family situation wasn't the best in the world. Mom and dad been on the verge. You heard from your mother that she was planning to split with him. They had argued in the past. You knew of that. But at the same time, it wasn't to this point where it was this bad... There were points where you felt like running away from it all. Hence the suicidal desire that you had wanted to fulfill tonight. Yet because of your hesitation, that never came about.

Having Kyubey on your shoulder was comforting. He was a comforting presence, even though he was strange in his ways. You should have at least brought an umbrella. You were so going to catch a cold tomorrow. And considering how your parents were also wanting you to be the perfect daughter caused you much stress indeed. There was no way you could do that. Not you. Anyone but you.

Couldn't your family life get any more screwed up...?

Your plain, boyish looking bobcut was soaked by the rain, the dark blue completely black at this point, considering that always happened when your hair got wet like this. Your stormy gray eyes stared ahead, assessing everything that was in front of you. You had your cell phone on you, that much was quite true. You could call one of your friends. Yes, you had a few friends here and there, and although you tended to let them talk more than you, you knew that one of them might be up at this hour.

Then again, you really didn't want to go home. The fact that mom and dad were fighting meant even if you disappeared, that nothing would have changed. That was your reasoning behind not going back for the night. When you did, they always blamed you for something. If it wasn't your grades, it was your appearance, and if it wasn't that, it would be something else entirely. It was always something different.

"So, Tomoko. Now that we have gotten things cleared up. You've become a magical girl. Meaning now that if these beings called witches pop up, your Soul Gem can detect them." Kyubey had gone onto explaining the whole situation. "I don't advise going after the familiars, though. Think of them as a waste of your time, unless there's a witch laying in the Labyrinth of her Barrier. Then by all means, go after them."

You were absorbed in a few ways, you were absorbed into the conversation, yet you were also trying to find yourself somewhere try. Luckily there was a bus stop near by the school, just only a few blocks away. Part of you wondered if the bus would even come. It was pretty late, according to your calculations. It was five minutes until ten pm. And knowing your mom and dad, they'd scold you for this and then rope you up into their arguments. Something you really didn't want. It's almost as if you become their personal punching bag. Their stresses and their issues were your issues now too, apparently. They didn't particularly abuse you physically. It was more of a mental and psychological thing. It was hard to tell it to others because everyone had such loving parents and they bragged about it. Actually, it wasn't really bragging. You were more at the point of why should you even talk to these people? You felt as if nothing good came out of it. And as a result, you were the one that always had to be left behind. Your parents had pretty much forsaken you in the ways of not even regarding you as an individual, more of a prize that your mother and father were fighting for.

In the end, did it really matter to them that you belonged to one parent over the other? You saw they were just playing games with each other. Although you weren't sure exactly what was going on. Were you unneeded, then? Were you just in the way of what your parents truly wanted? You couldn't fathom it. Even though you were drying off at the bus stop since it had one of those fancy overheads, it didn't stop your heart from sinking, thinking about all that has happened so far.

-

What do you do next? There's lots to do... And you can't figure out what you want.

[] Talk to Kyubey more about magical girls, witches, all that jazz. You have the time and you weren't sure if you really wanted to wait for a bus...
[] Wander around town. You could do something fun, and then maybe find some shelter for the night. You weren't going back home. You didn't want to be yelled at anymore.
[] Call up a friend and stay at their place. Tell them that you just need to sleep for the night and that you'll be out of their hair by the morning.
[] Go home via bus. You need a nice, warm bed. Even if mom and dad are going to blame you for something again.
[] Write-in.

3 - A Quiet Moment

[X] Talk to Kyubey more about magical girls, witches, all that jazz. You have the time and you weren't sure if you really wanted to wait for a bus...

"Say, Kyubey. What are magical girls exactly? Besides... you know. What you said earlier?" You remarked, quite curious about that. You were a magical girl now. You deserved to know more. You needed specifics. You weren't exactly God. Not like you want to be. Having the position of God sounded stressful. And something that would probably cause you a headache.

Kyubey, who had looked over at you, nodded. "Well, magical girls are those who are destined to fight against the Witches in exchange for their wishes. Although I don't think you were quite paying attention to that part. You had a rough time. So your mind was just trying to catch up to the fact that you made a wonderful decision to make a wish." He had explained. "Witches and Familiars reside in Labyrinths. They're the ones you are destined to fight. Well, Familiars, you have to wait more on for."

"Why? Wouldn't it better to kill them right away?" It was a logical line of thinking. Kill the Familiars before the Witches were born. It was plenty simple.

"Wrong. You need the Witches. They have the Grief Seeds. Speaking of which..." Kyubey, from out of nowhere, had pulled out what appeared to about a dozen of these strange, black egg-shaped seeds. "These are Grief Seeds. You need these because it'll help keep your Soul Gem pure. You never want the shine of that Soul Gem to fade away."

"...Oh. Okay... That makes sense." You weren't sure whether to ask further. You figured that since he insisted that you shouldn't let the shine fade away from your Soul Gem, you automatically assumed something bad was going to happen.

The rain had lightened up quite a bit. You weren't sure whether or not you wanted to go home, but you opted for now to just wander around the town and see what the night life had for you. You wondered, though...

"Hey, Kyubey, can you hear me?"

"Of course. Are you trying out your telepathy?"

"Yes."

"...We don't have to do this, you know. Illogical."

-

You spent a bit more time wandering around the town before you realized that since you had been more focused on desiring an explanation from Kyubey that it was getting later in the night. Dang, it was almost getting around to ten-thirty pm. You really need to pick whether to go home or not. You really didn't want to. But it's not like you could stay out here forever.

Walking home, at least your clothes were beginning to dry out. So that way your mom and dad didn't have to complain about your appearance. If they were still up that is. It was strange, considering they wanted to split, yet they stayed together. You practically wanted to force them to make up their minds at this point. It bugged you. But you had no say in it. You were a minor. And that meant you had to stay with them, unless you ran away that is. It's not like your parents were the same anymore.

It all started with your father drowning himself in work, as he was a workaholic and viewed that toiling yourself to the bone was of course, the natural thing to do for his wife and his daughter. With him taking up so many hours at his workplace, you swore that mom had started to see different men, too. Not wearing her wedding ring. You weren't sure of anything. Was your family going to crumble down into nothing? All that hard work, wasted? At first, you didn't understand why your mother stopped wearing her wedding ring. You even told her that she should wear her wedding ring.

She never responded back to you, just turning her head away.

Having a bright future turn into tatters and wasting away being around people who cared not a single ounce for you. That was a nightmare that you didn't want to become a reality. Although it was certainly unfolding to be like one. That's why you had to go to the roof that very night. Your parents falling apart - you knew it, too - so this was something so tragic to you comparing to your parents before this fiasco, who were kind and loving, who spoiled you a bit too. If you had to make a wish, you wanted to be stronger. Being stronger was all that mattered. No matter what would have been thrown at your way, you would be fine.

You could avoid tragic happenings by just being strong enough to take them head on. You could destroy the possibility of tragedy. Why didn't you do this at the first sign of it? Why did it have to take so many signs to realize that your family was coming apart at the seams? If you only had found Kyubey earlier, such a thing would have been prevented. Then again, you didn't know exactly what your mother had done. She could have done a multitude of things by now. You could only imagine.

-

Arriving at home, you had unlocked the house with the keys. You were surprised that they remembered to lock the house up. Sometimes your mother threw out your father, or vice-versa. At least that was nowadays. Perhaps they were just apart already, though. You didn't know. Because your parents never bother to clue you in. And even when they did, they made rancid stories about each other that you didn't want to listen to.

The house wasn't a complete mess, though it wasn't a complete perfectly clean one, either. Some things were strewn here and there. There were some shattered alcohol bottles. Did one of them take to the bottle this time? You shuddered to think of your parents as these red-faced demons, who could be so chillingly honest with their words. You looked away. You didn't want to see it. Or acknowledge it.

"Aren't your parents going to be mad that you are late in coming home?" Kyubey mentioned, and you bit your lip in response.

Your parents would be, if they were awake. You could hear your dad snoring, so you assumed mom was sleeping too. And besides, you didn't want to bother them. You had school in the morning, too. Heading up to your room, you had locked your door, which you did often now. That way so they didn't have to barge in your room and bother you with every problem of their marriage. However, you needed to get in more comfortable clothes. Your wet clothes were sticking to you, and you didn't like that. You would take a shower in the morning. After getting dressed in your periwinkle blue pajamas with yellow crescent moons and fluffy white clouds, you had some time to yourself. Kyubey had made his presence known by taking up the foot of your bed. You hoped your parents didn't see him. It would be hard to explain.

-

What do you do next?

[] Go on your computer. You want to connect with your internet buddies. It seems like they are all online now.
[] Read your favorite books. You aren't in the mood for studying, but you're fine with reading.
[] Play video games. Bad for your eyesight, probably, although you love games.
[] Do some flower arranging. All the materials you need are here, so you could make some pretty arrangements for your school club tomorrow.
[] Sleep. You are tired. You want to sleep. Plus you didn't want mom and dad finding you awake and lecturing the hell out of you.

4 - Dreaming Syndrome

[X] Sleep. You are tired. You want to sleep. Plus you didn't want mom and dad finding you awake and lecturing the hell out of you.

You were bushed. You had to admit, you couldn't stay awake. And besides that, you knew your parents. Your parents were stricter now that things were falling apart. The alcohol too, didn't help your nerves in the slightest. You swore to god that you were going to have a lot to deal with when you went to school tomorrow. You had gone to your light switch and flipped it off, then headed to your bed and crawled underneath the nice, warm, blankets.

And as you slept, you dreamed. In your dreams, you saw a silver-haired magical girl, stained red of the blood of others. Her eyes were hollow, and not hollow because she couldn't see. They were hollow because they've seen so much and done horrendous things to others. The corpses were piled there, their Soul Gems smashed into powder. She drew her blade towards you. Apparently you had become a target to her.

"Stay away from me! Please!" You screamed, fear taking over your entire being. "You killed them all...! You're a monster!!"

"Aren't you, too, then? You're a hypocrite. You say these things, and yet you don't understand the ramifications of making a wish. You should have never made such a wish." Her blade, still dripping with blood, inched closer and closer to you.

Your blood ran cold. You didn't know how to respond. "A magical girl shouldn't go around killing other magical girls! I know I don't get along with any of them, but... but... you can't just kill because you feel like it...!!"

"Magical girls aren't bound to ordinary rules of humanity. You have no reason to be hesitant. If you want to survive, then kill me, why don't you? It's easy, since all you have to do is..."

"No! I don't want to hear it!"

You had clapped your hands over your ears, refusing to hear such a frightening thing. Her lips were still moving, uttering words that you would reject until the day you die. You would never stoop to her level. She kept moving towards you, while you moved backwards. You didn't know how to react but with horror and disgust for this magical girl who no longer regarded life. Magical girls had their differences. You could accept that. What you couldn't accept was the barbaric behavior of murder and the justifications that led this magical girl to go on a murder rampage.

Forcefully pushing you, the silver-haired magical girl gave a stoic frown, a never-changing apathy. "...Good night." Her blade ran through you. Her face had become blurrier and blurrier... until you felt like you had disappeared.

-

Your alarm was the first thing that woke you up. The time had read out on your cell phone as six am. God. What a horrible nightmare. Going to high school was a pain in the morning. Considering that Akanegasaki High School started at eight-thirty on the dot, you really didn't want to go. But it was better than nothing. Getting a morning shower, and then taking care of your personal hygiene, then you got yourself into your school uniform, you had all the necessary precautions to look nice and neat, the way that your parents wanted it to be.

"Hey, Kyubey. I'm heading off to school." You said. You didn't want to talk about your weird dream last night. That was the one thing you didn't want to be reminded of. The fact that there was a magical girl there was all too coincidental.

"I'll come along with you. That way so no magical girls can go outright target you..." Kyubey leaped off the sill. "I'll hop on your shoulder. Nobody will even see me. Only you and other magical girls, as well as magical girl candidates can."

That was something to good to note, you thought to yourself. As you headed out of your room, you noticed that the room was eerily silent. That was typical. Usually your father was kind, until he took to the bottle and forgot about things. But it seemed that a note was left on the fridge. You took the taped note off and read it out loud, "Tomoko. I left some breakfast for you in the fridge. Scrambled eggs and bacon you can heat up. You can toast some bread and put butter on it and head to school. I apologize that nobody was awake for you when you came home. Then again, you shouldn't be out so late in the first place. Don't do it again. Love, Dad."

Finishing reading up the note, you clutched it and folded it up, and placing it into your bag. Maybe you could write a note back to dad, since he loved work more than his family. Then again, the problems seemed pretty complex to begin with. "Right... Even though the pair of you are slowly losing it..."

Gathering breakfast, you had opted that you would do what you could for the day, despite your mood being quite dark. It was simple to do a routine. Once you managed to get to the train, you were off to school.

-

If you were to say you had friends, you didn't have many. You had acquaintances. Nothing more, nothing less. It had been a relatively quiet trip over to your high school. Kyubey and yourself didn't talk much, either. Getting to homeroom, you saw your classmates. When you stepped in, it didn't matter whether you were there or not. You felt like you were an invisible one. You knew really that wasn't the case but it wasn't too far from reality for you considering that your mother's actions surely would have to come up sooner or later.

Despite not having many bonds, you wanted to at least have a good school life. Your wish... The wish was making you wonder what sort of power you would have. You had to think on that, considerably so. The wish of, "I wish I was strong enough so that I won't reach this point again. I want to have a will of steel that'll let me trample down my problems."

Did that mean that your power involved some sort of superhuman strength? Or superhuman will? You had no idea. You would have to see when you actually had to transform. You nearly fell asleep. You had fallen asleep on the train of course on your way to school, but you were feeling sleepy.

"Mornin', Tomoko-chan!"

You were jarred awake by the chipper voice of Mari Tachibana. She was the president of the flower arranging club. She was a second-year who had ginger hair and amber eyes. A real hot-head, as you reminded yourself. She was a bit taller than you. More popular than you, as you recalled. Her and a few other people associated with you and call you their friend, although you were sure that it wasn't truly genuine. She tends to visit your homeroom often and tends to be a bit of a troublemaker.

"Good morning, Tachibana-senpai," You quietly acknowledged.

"Hey, that's cruel, Tomo-chan! I come here for a visit and you're being all quiet as usual?! I gotta cure you from your illness of loneliness~" Since junior high, you swore that Mari had intentionally associated with you. She constantly was overbearing, quite sisterly.

Everyone is looking at the pair of you, too. Mari is making too much of a commotion. Everyone usually would ignore a senpai coming over to visit one of the kouhai. But you didn't want to have such a headache during the morning. Although... this could be your chance to change to make your peers see you more positively.

-

What do you do next?

[] Embrace it. Mari's just being Mari and you really want to be able to at least have one happy moment.
[] Tell Mari off. You really hate her doing this sort of thing and she's giving you a bad reputation.
[] Just leave the room. You don't want to deal with this today.
[] Write-in of what you do next.

5 - Magical Girl Allies...?
[X] Embrace it. Mari's just being Mari and you really want to be able to at least have one happy moment.

"Alright, alright." You chimed in. "I surrender your will, Mari-senpai."

Mari's eyes glittered with joy at this and she practically took you into a bear hug. "Yaaaaaaaaaay! I got Tomo-chan's approval! I'm queen of the world~"

"C-Calm down... It's alright for a hug, but you're... squeezing me..." You swore that your lungs were going to pop at this rate.

Blinking, Mari nodded. "You're right. I'll be more gentle. Tomo-chan doesn't want to be squished! Too early in the morning for that."

That... did for a moment, you manage to convince her with your words alone? No. It was just normal telling her off. It was a normal thing. But your wish wasn't like that. It involved strength. It wouldn't make sense. You hugged her and then Mari was the one wincing.

"Are you concentrating on hugging me lots, hahaha...? Because you are hurting me now..." Mari said with a quiet for a moment.

"S-Sorry, s-senpai...!"

Mari chuckled. "I was kiddin', Tomo-chan! You'd be surprised on how strong I am!"

Everyone in class glared for a moment. Then burst out laughing, considering how your senpai had tricked you. You laughed slightly as well. It was good to have a hug. It was a long time since anyone had, really. You never thought that for a girl who was a year ahead of you to be so energetic over the smallest of things. You thought when people get older, they would change and mature and become cooler... some people never changed, you guessed.

You really didn't have the time to confirm how Mari was doing, since the bell rung. This caused Mari to rush out of the room and head back to her own homeroom. Although, didn't she look like she was wincing in pain as she left? No matter. You could talk to her later about it during club, perhaps.

"Say, Tomoko." Kyubey had spoken up, in telepathy, no less. "Wouldn't you like more friends to be a magical girl with you...?"

You paused. More friends? And as magical girls, too? It was a suspicious thing. And plus, all considering... Kyubey seemed trustworthy to you, although you couldn't really say for sure whether you know this to be a reality or a fantasy. A magical messenger should be something to be regarded as suspicious to normal people. Yet here you were trusting it. Like it wasn't a problem with you. Like it didn't matter. Shouldn't you be more wary?

...Well, Kyubey was the only one who really understood you, anyways.

Having Mari around was interesting. In the end, it felt like you wanted to crush her in her arms, but overall, she wasn't too bad. At least she wasn't the student council president. Then you were positive that you wouldn't be able to enjoy your position there, too. You served as a secretary there, too. You preferred flower arranging more, though. Not to mention that your input was vastly ignored. You were used to it and most would think it would hurt you. It did. It always did.

Your day had been passing smoothly though, after that incident. Some remarked that you were strange for hugging back your senpai. Some thought that Mari was in pain when she left the room. Others just assumed it was just nothing and didn't really think about it much. After all, Mari did all sorts of hugs, including bear hugs. They probably had suspected that one day somebody would dish back what she had deserved.

Again, normally since your senpai was the one that interacted with you. You remembered that you were pretty much the only first-year - no, that's wrong. There was another person. Hanayo Chigusa, a first-year who attended flower-arranging quietly, and she was much better than you. Her dark green hair that was kept in plaids and she wore black, thick-rimmed glasses. Her pupils were of a bright sky blue. As far as you can recall ever since you attended school together, she never spoke. Not even once. She had to use sign language to communicate.

"Friends..." That word was muttered under your breath, a word that felt so unfamiliar and alien to you. It was a strange concept. Friendship was to bound together by other people. People who were supposed to understand you. You wanted to have that same connection. You wanted to be the one that connected everyone together to you.

Of course, there was a first-year vice president in the student council. The smart, analytical type, Minami Fujimura. You swore she was a like a human computer to you. Her lilac colored hair that was down to her shoulders and her amethyst eyes that were sparkling and full of life. Minami was the type of person that you didn't like the most. You could tolerate Mari and Hanayo never spoke anyways, so there was that. It was the way that Minami made you feel. Like you were insignificant. Like she was so much smarter than you. You weren't sure if the pair of you would see eye to eye, really. Yet perhaps there was a chance to bond with her... you had no clue.

Mari, your senpai, even though you had described her as a girl with ginger hair and amber eyes, her ginger hair was long and wild like her. Nearly containable hair, in fact, considering that the faculty at one point insisted that she do something about her hair or be sent home for the day. Hence why she wore a ponytail at school. She always got herself into trouble though considering she always went into your homeroom and decided that hugging you was appropriate during school hours. You had to wonder why, to be honest. You weren't special enough to garner attention from her.

"It's lunch time, students."

With that, everyone who hadn't gotten their lunches were heading to get bread or whatever, you always had your lunch with you anyways, so there was really no need for you to get something to eat. You had to make all your meals yourself, minus your drink. Today's meal was fried chicken, rice, two boiled eggs, potato salad, miso soup, and milk. Since it was lunch time, you had a bit more freedom in the building. Which was nice. You had considered eating outside but it looked like it was going to rain again. Meaning everyone will be inside for today.

-

Kyubey has told you that you should start getting magical girls to your side. Who to pick to talk to and spend lunch with? You might get an ally...

[] Mari Tachibana, the second-year big sister type senpai. Although she hugs a lot and seems to spoil you, you figure things might be easy with her...
[] Hanayo Chigusa, the first-year's silent participant in the flower arranging club. She always is alone at lunchtime... maybe you could chat with her.
[] Minami Fujimura, the first-year student council vice president. You don't get along with her, but things can change. Maybe you might get along with her.
[] Pick somebody else.
[] Don't spend lunchtime with anyone. How can you approach them with a proposition of a magical girl from Kyubey, the messenger of magic...?

6 - Bonding with a Tsundere
[X] Minami Fujimura, the first-year student council vice president. You don't get along with her, but things can change. Maybe you might get along with her.

Despite not really being attached to the idea of getting Fujimura-san involved considering how she behaved... You really didn't know if Mari was suited for it just yet. She might just squeeze you to death. Hanayo just wouldn't be able to really talk to you anyways, so there is that. Plus you didn't want to ask a mere stranger about something so... could you possibly describe something like this to a stranger and not expect to be laughed at?

Not to mention that Kyubey would definitely get on your case if you didn't do this, apparently.

It wasn't going to be too hard to find Minami. She usually enjoyed relaxing near the music room and you often saw her playing a violin. You never really approached her on the matter of music because you weren't a classical music fan. You thought that classical music would just put you to sleep in some instances and your parents told you when you were little that you loved listening to the pianos and the like, which always put you to sleep. It made sense, really. You always thought her strict, down-to-earth nature was too boring for your taste. Plus there was the fact that there was a rumor around the school that she was actually a tsundere. That she fit the trope for it quite well.

You weren't a geek, but you thought that they were being quite moronic when it came to things like that. They should really grow up and not think that everything was like an anime or a manga. Real life didn't work like that. Well, that was what you would say, if it wasn't for the fact that you were a magical girl. That you had the ability to have your wish granted and all that junk.

Taking the liberty to get yourself and your bento inside the music room, you could hear her playing that violin as usual. You were unfamiliar with the piece that she was playing. Most violin pieces came from outside of Japan that were so... classical? You really needed to brush up on your music.

You barely noticed that Minami had finished playing, until she spoke up. "What are you doing here? I thought I told any music club members they have to wait until after lunch to have access to the music room." She snipped, visibly angered at the mere sight of you.

"Um... no. I just... wanted to talk to you." You said quietly in return since you didn't want to make such a scene.

This made Minami's eyebrow raise. "Oh...? No wait. I recognize you. You're Tomoko Ueda. You're the secretary in the student council."

"Yes, that's me..." So even the student council's own vice-president didn't recognize their secretary. Didn't that mean that the student council was a bit more dysfunctional than what it should be?

"Anyways, what do you even want? The meeting's after school today as I recall. And you certainly don't need to attend, in all consideration. You barely add any new input, Ueda-san..."

You felt insulted by Minami's words. She never had any consideration for others. But you put on your best of smiles. You had to endure. It was only just to convince her to become a magical girl. You really just needed allies, not friends. You wouldn't get attached to her. No matter what. "Oh, Fujimura-san. What was that piece you were playing, by the way? It was so very lovely."

With a smirk, Minami had placed her violin carefully inside the violin case, zipping it up. "Sérénade Mélancolique. By Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. He is a wondrous composer, along with many others. Although you would probably never understand what I mean. My father is a composer himself. I was practically raised on music from foreign lands. My mother... Ah, well, never mind that. There are more pressing matters."

It was a wonder how Minami didn't know music. Having a composer of a father would most certainly would assist her in being taught the words and the like. Sheet music was difficult, as was reading notes. You had to admit, despite Minami being quite a jerk, she actually had a soft spot when it came to music. She wondered what else about Minami wasn't talented. Underneath the rigid and pompous persona had to be a girl who was quite lonely.

"Do you want to eat lunch together then, Fujimura-san?" You offered. You knew that there was a decent chance that she'd outright refuse you. After all, you never see her eat lunch with many other people. Always focused on her music and to keep working until the bitter end...

"I'll allow it this one time. You better have something interesting about you that keeps me hooked, however. I quite detest boring conversations. Everyone else prattles on and on about gossip and the like, thinking like they know everything. It bugs me so." Minami had headed towards her bag and withdrew her own bento box. It seemed like she too, had brought her lunch. "It's not like I don't like school lunch. I just prefer having my father cook for me. His cooking is the best!"

That intrigued you. She was very much the doting daughter of a well-respected father. The perfect image of a girl anyone would like to get with. If they could handle her sour-sweet personality. Her confidence must be faked. Deep down, humanity had one thing in common: fear. You felt Kyubey sit in the room, making his presence known. Was he testing Minami to see if she could see him...? Was that too, a requirement?

You decided that you had to talk to her about something...

Bonding with a Tsundere

[] Talk to Minami about everyday life. You were curious to know who Minami really is, what she's like, her hobbies, personal stuff.
[] Talk to Minami about school activities, clubs, grades... you really want to confirm the rumors you heard around school. For future reference.
[] Have her make a contract with Kyubey. You need to have another magical girl allied to you. Just in case a rogue magical girl causes trouble.
[] Eat lunch in silence. Even though you wanted to talk, you decided against it. Silence is golden.

[] Write in your strategy.

7 - Will Minami Fujimura Make a Wish...?
[X] Have her make a contract with Kyubey. You need to have another magical girl allied to you. Just in case a rogue magical girl causes trouble.
-[X] Have Kyubey show himself and help you with this.

"Say, Fujimura-san. Do you believe in magic?" You said abruptly, as you hadn't really touched your lunch, although you really wanted to. Your lunch would surely be delicious, since you were spending time with a friend... yet at the same time, well...

"Magic? Preposterous. Magic is in fairy tales and the like. It's not like I really like any sort of magic... it's that people do stupid things with it, probably." Minami's voice wavered slightly, firmly wanting to hold onto her belief. "Are you just going to say that you're a magical girl and crap like that? Because if you were saying such childish things, you assuredly need to grow up..."

You figured this would be the case. A prim and proper girl such as Minami wouldn't ever dare consider such things real. And the you of a day ago would certainly agree to this as well. After all, magic wasn't an everyday occurrence. It simply wasn't. What you knew for sure was that it happened. That you couldn't be dreaming it. She seemed to be a difficult person to deal with more in person. You always looked from afar. She was so composed and put together. You never saw weakness in her. While you were weak and pathetic, you wanted to be stronger for a variety of reasons. Too many reasons to count.

"...Oi. You better tell me what's going on here. Nobody just asks something like that out of nowhere." Minami glared at you, and you can feel her stare burrowing into your eyes.

Kyubey, who had been tailing behind you and had even been in the room, had stepped in. "Hello, Minami Fujimura."

"What the hell is this... bunny... cat... whatever?" Growing alarmed at the sight of a strange creature in front of her, Minami had backed away, slowly but steadily. She certainly wasn't going to get any closer now that she had seen something particularly odd.

"I'm not a bunny nor am I a cat." Kyubey had pointed out sardonically. You had noticed that he was quite cheerful when he was contracting you and talking to you. Did he always put up such well-manicured acts for creating contracts, then? You didn't know. "I'm a messenger of magic. The name is Kyubey."

Minami shuddered at the sight of Kyubey, unable to keep her eyes off of it. "Messenger... of... magic?"

"Don't repeat words. That's quite rude. I am very well-educated, mind you. You ought to be kinder. I was just saying hello. Although apparently being respectable in public is really hot and cold thing, isn't it?" Holding out your arms, you let Kyubey hop into your lap.

"I'm a magical girl, Fujimura-san. And magic is real. That's how I'm able to talk to Kyubey."

"Why are you telling me this?! Have you lost your mind? We don't even know each other that well!"

"You are a potential candidate, you know. You'll get a wish, and in exchange, you just have to work with Tomoko here."

"And what if I don't want to, bunnycat? And no, I won't call you Kyubey. You are fucking creepy. You both are! Why would you want to get closer to me?"

Silence had permeated the room. For in this singular moment, Minami withdrew away even further. Who could have blamed her? You aren't blaming her. Although you wished that she would just settle down and talk to them about it. The rain had pounded against the windows, almost as if the sound had accented the three of you in this room. Nobody ever came to the music room around lunch time. So it was nice and peaceful, almost. There was no thunder. No lightning. Just... rain. It was boring you out of your skull, to be honest. You had expected a reaction, that much was true. Didn't people say in public she was almost like two-faced? As if she was two different people at the same time. Not like you knew whether or not she had mental illnesses or the like. In the grand scheme of things, it didn't necessarily matter.

It was obvious that Kyubey just needed to contract with her. It should be simple. If the vice-president wasn't so forth coming in her rejection, neither of you wouldn't be so diligent in staying by now. "Come on. It's a single wish. You get whatever you want... Even what you desire. Isn't there something in this big, wide world that you want, Minami Fujimura...? Everyone wants something."

You had nodded. "Yeah... Kyubey is a magical messenger. Your wish can be granted! Like mine did... It came true." You were persistent. Never had you felt so mentally capable of such things before. It's almost as if the words were slipping out of your mouth was like butter on a hot piece of toast.

"...I..." Minami barely spoke.

"Yes, Fujimura-san?" You weren't going to let her just stay quiet like this. You had a feeling you had a handle on the situation.

"Well... I just... can't." Minami argued back weakly. "I don't think a wish of mine would be good enough, anyways. Just... leave. Go away. I don't want to talk about this."

Kyubey had looked up at you, and then back at Minami. "Liar. You are obviously lying to us."

"How? How could I possibly be lying?! I'm no liar! I make good on my promises... everything in my life is absolutely, positively perfect! I have a loving father, a wonderful home, what else could I need? My music is skyrocketing and surely I will be hired as a professional violinist! You are just talking air at this point. I'm absolutely perfect, in every single shape and aspect!" It seemed that Minami was close to breaking down already. Negotiations, as far as you were concerned, weren't really that. They were just arguing at this point.

"Don't evade the subject. You are just being unnecessarily noisy over nothing..."

Minami jabbed a finger at you, pointing you out to Kyubey. "She's just a nobody! A member of the floral arrangement club, a secretary within the student council... Why do you want me to join you two? What is the purpose of this?"

"I don't want to be alone. And neither do you." You said honestly, after letting Minami vent, reaching out your hand to her. "It's okay. I think... I understand you better a bit. Not all the way, but surely one day, I'll understand you fully."

You didn't want to be the bad guy. Although you certainly felt as if you deserved that role, making Minami feel like this. She was on the verge of crying. Being called a liar must have put her on the edge, and you would have to agree with that. You shot a warning glance at Kyubey, who blankly tilted his head. It seems like he had no remorse in what you said. He should be more careful is what you thought. Not everyone was willing to make a contract from the looks of it.

"...I'll make a wish." Minami said, softly at first. Then her voice grew louder. "I'll make it! Just... please... I want to make a wish that matters to me, personally..."

It shocked you for a moment or two. "Are you sure? You were so against it not so long ago..."

Minami's hands curled up, almost flexing back into fists. She still was close to crying. "I wanted to, really... I... I was scared. Something like magic, I thought, it surely didn't exist. And that's why I'm still hesitant. I don't know what I want to wish for. What I'd look like as a magical girl... everything. I..."

Will Minami Fujimura Make a Wish...?

[] Help Minami with her wish? It seems like she really doesn't know what she wants... And you really want Minami to be on your team.
[] Let Minami think about her wish. She's her own person. Maybe you could find another potential while you are waiting?
[] Get Kyubey's advice on the situation. What does he think about having Minami as a member of your team?
[] Write-in.

8 - Irie Shirokage Makes a Wish...
[X] Smile and assure her
-[X] "I'm sure you'd look great. You'll become a splendid Magical Girl. A wish made filled with your hopes and dreams is something special, and if it's to be made you have to think about it really hard. I can help you think about your wish. It's a one time thing so it's best not to waste it, right? If it brings you a step closer to happiness, wouldn't that be all right?"
[X] Help Minami with her wish? It seems like she really doesn't know what she wants... And you really want Minami to be on your team.
-[X] "Don't say that whatever wish you have isn't good enough. So long as it comes from your heart. We can consider things you like the most or if there are things that you want resolved. I had my doubts too at the start and I'm still walking blind, but making my own wish, it felt like I was given a second chance."
--[X]" What about you, Fujimura-san? Do you have anything you'd like to have a second chance with?"
----[X] "You don't have to make a wish right now. Like I said, this wish is special so you must think about it. Kyubey and I will be around so if you need time to think and decide, we'll be more than happy to accommodate you."
[X] Search for other Potentials after this...

Whether or not she was ready, you would reassure her. You decided this was going to be your role, and you were going to be able to help out Minami. You knew that a wish was just full of potential. You really wanted her to join you. She would be a great asset. You could feel it. You had no doubts in your mind. You knew that this could work, as long as you comforted her and got her to the point of making a wish.

"I'm sure you'd look great. You'll become a splendid Magical Girl. A wish made filled with your hopes and dreams is something special, and if it's to be made you have to think about it really hard. I can help you think about your wish. It's a one time thing, so it's best not to waste it, right? If it brings you a step closer to happiness, wouldn't that be alright?"

Minami had been dumbfounded by your speech. Sniffling slightly, she was able to look at you. "You... don't mind...? Even though, I... my wish seriously might be useless after all..."

"Don't say that whatever wish you have isn't good enough. So long as it comes from your heart. We can consider things you like the most or if there are things that you want resolved. I had my doubts too at the start and I'm still walking blind, but making my own wish, it felt like I was given a second chance." You felt the words were flowing so effortlessly from your mouth. Was it convince her, though? Or was it to convince yourself?

Kyubey had moved from your lap and walked forward to Minami. "Being a magical girl is rewarding. You'll be doing good deeds for others. It'll be like being a hero."

"Rewarding? Being a magical girl is rewarding?" Minami seemed to be contemplating about it more carefully. She seemed to have something in her mind. She looked like shew as considering it rather than just blindly rushing into things.

"It is. All you have to do is make a contract." Kyubey chimed in.

Minami looked at her hands. Was she considering that with her hands she would be able to make a difference? It seemed like a simple observation from your point of view. Although you shouldn't just assume that this was the case. Anyoen could just stare at their hands when it came to wondering about things when they didn't have a real response in mind.

"What about you, Fujimura-san? Do you have anything you'd like to have a second chance with?" You were giving her a big old smile.

"I... um..." Minami, even after hearing all of this, it seemed that she was uncertain still.

Was it funny how you felt you had more of a grip on yourself than anything else? You felt much better being able to talk to people. Never before had you had the power to say what was on your mind. "You don't have to make a wish right now. Like I said, this wish is special so you must think about it. Kyubey and I will be around so if you need time to think and decide, we'll be more than happy to accommodate you."

"...Thank you, Ueda-san. I'll let you know by the end of today. Or whenever I find the will to come to you with a wish."

You gave a cheery smile. "Alright. Good, good~ Make sure your wish is something that'd you be willing to fight for."

Having taken your lunch, you had decided that it was best to leave the room to give Minami some time to think. The girl had been stressed out to this point. She deserved some time to herself. You knew that Kyubey was odd, yet you didn't expect him to pressure her. Why was he so insistent to Minami to contract so quickly? Did something happen that It was so severe that more magical girls had to be contracted immediately for? Or was it for a different purpose? Whatever the reason, Kyubey really needed magical girls...

You looked around for more potentials. Luckily you didn't spend all of lunch period there. Only a mild time gap. Your high school was pretty good when it came to lunch break, that you were sure of. Since everyone was inside, you could go through the classrooms and search for potentials. Yet there was the fact that you weren't exactly the most popular girl around. The only chance really was having Minami contract. If you had her contract then maybe things would go smoothly.

"Hey, hey! You! Yes, you! You haven't joined a club yet, have you?"

Raising an eyebrow, you stared at the blonde girl who approached you, her blue irises meeting yours. "Um... I'm already in two clubs already--"

"Oh, darn... I hope that I would get somebody to join the Occult Club..." The girl bit her thumb, chewing on it slightly. "Oh whatever shall I do?! Tragedy! This means that the Occult Club will close down..."

You were uncertain about her. It seemed like she had the potential, though. "What is the Occult Club?"

This made the girl genuinely shocked. "You still have interest?! Fabulous! Wonderful! I'm Irie Shirokage! If you want a pun for my name, call me IS for short. Makes it faster. And plus nobody in this school has given me a nickname! Ridiculous, isn't it? I am the president of the esteemed Occult Club! Oh. But that's only because everyone else quit. Said it was boring or whatever, and just left me to do all of this. I need four more members otherwise I'll be shut down, so... Won't you join the Occult Club?!"

Weighing your options, you gave a smile. "Why of course. Let's talk about this more in private, shall we?" You didn't want to attract attention. Especially considering what you were planning to do.

Once you had arrived at the Occult Club room, you realized that this club room was just the vacated Newspaper Club room. That was because it had conjoined itself to the Journalist Club, and they saw no need of having two clubs that were practically the same thing at the same time. There were newspapers all askew about the place. There was dust here and there. Normally when it came to club rooms, after being abandoned by the original club, it took forever to take them and put them into use. You coughed slightly, considering how bad it smelled it in here. But it also gave you time to take a look at Irie Shirokage.

She was a surprisingly tall girl for her age. About 5"5, an average height in all retrospects. Her blond hair was a bob cut with two strands that encompassed her cheeks. She wore the standard uniform, although she had a long black cape that accompanied it with a white symbol on the back that you were sort of afraid to ask what it was, really. Although you saw bruises on her legs. And they weren't bruises that just anyone could get... Was she actually...

"Wait, wait! I have to ask you something important! Do you have anything that can be considered supernatural to be worthy of club research and all that?" Irie asked. "Ya see, I'm a huge fan of the supernatural. Nothing gets my blood more fired up than things like magic! If you can prove it to me..."

"Well, you don't need proof, Irie Shirokage. The proof is right here. So won't you make a contract and become a magical girl?" Kyubey had proclaimed, much to Irie's delight who had squealed in response.

Irie had nodded, it almost seemed to you like she was rocking to the beat. "Alright! I'll make a wish! The grand, fabulous wish of mine, is..."
