[X] Accept the invitation.

We have to socialize at some point, and accepting this invitation will make them trust us more, whereas denying will make them suspicious.

We might be able to do this alone. But in the end, I doubt it.

We have zero in-character reason to distrust Kyubey.
Not true:
You can't believe that the white rat talked! You thought that they were all just dumb animals that the Devil would sometimes use as eyes and ears but apparently not. It makes you kind of sick now that you think about it. You've done a lot of things to survive but you've never resorted to cannibalism, not even in your darkest moments. You have eaten the Devil's spies though and if they're smart enough to talk…
Tatsuya thinks that Kyuubey is (or will be) one of the Devil's spies. Distrust should be the default state until it can prove that it isn't reporting to the Devil.

Our goals are not currently at cross purposes with anyone as far as Tatsuya knows. He lacks the pop-cultural awareness of timetravel tropes to justify not sharing information when he needs information desperately.
I'm a bit leery about this particular piece of pop-cultural "awareness". If I were a time traveler, one of the first things I would do would be to find some trustworthy people to confide in. On the other hand, we're playing as Tatsuya, who would have a hard time trusting anyone other than Madoka. He'll want to stay near them, but he won't want to answer any questions.

[X] Accept the invitation.
-[X] Stay close to Madoka and the others and observe them carefully. Try to be polite, but don't say anything of substance where the enemy's spy might hear it.

[X] Decline and leave.
-[X] You should really get around to figuring out how your magic works.

It's noted that we have absolute crap for social so spending to much time around them right now wouldn't be that smart, besides were the mysterious hero of the show we cant just stick around and revel all our stuff where's the fun in that.

There is a certain murderface lurking nearby, who's going to have some questions for Tatsuya as soon as we're alone.

She has speed = yes and infinite guns. Her weakness is indiscriminate defenses and esoteric methods of dodging. She can only dodge as fast as the human mind (150 mph-ish) and she can't go through walls.

Hitting her with lightning before she has her hand on her shield is pretty much an instant-win, if we roll well.

No rolls in this quest.

Tatsuya already considers Kyubey an exception from the other animals he's encountered since he can talk, and the Devil doesn't manifest until a year later, according to his fragmented memories.

And Mami's warm, golden magic already made Tatsuya start to trust her. Either way, your argument still means we are 100% okay with telling Madoka everything and I think we should.

We've already seen Homu-route. Let's do the exact opposite.

The Devil isn't active yet, sure, but Tatsuya doesn't know if she's present or not (hint: she is). Any of the Devil's once-and-future spies are automatically suspect. Kyuubey might be safe to talk to, but Tatsuya should definitely treat it as suspicious until proven otherwise.

Tell Madoka? Certainly. Tell Mami? Maybe. Tell Sayaka? She's an unknown and therefore suspicious. Tell Kyuubey? Definitely not.

If Tatsuya can talk to Madoka alone (or maybe Madoka & Mami), then he should be willing to talk, otherwise I can't see it happening.

Actually, Tatsuya is more suspicious of Mami than Sayaka at the moment. Although he barely remembers her he does place great importance on those memories he does have. Also, as far as he can tell she's a baseline human which means that she has no chance against him. On the other hand, He has no memories of Mami at all and she's got a lot of power and is therefor much more dangerous. Not to say he trusts either of them, caution has basically been permanently been beaten into him, but he's much more cautious about Mami than Sayaka.

@RexHeller, a point of clarification? Don't we remember Kyubey from when he contracted us and stuff? The last update has me pretty confused on that; or is this another memory error caused by the time trip?

Right, well. I have an hour today where I won't be able to play XCOM 2. Sounds like a good time to get some writing done, right? Can someone get me a vote tally? The tally program has stopped working for me and I don't have time to fix it right now.

Can someone get me a vote tally?

Danke.

Sir, you are being stalked.
You shrug. "Sure, if you're willing to explain some things. I'm not sure I have the answers you're looking for though."

Mami nods and smiles at you. "Alright then." There's another flash of light and her clothes are back to the same uniform as before. Her power dims in you magic senses but you can still sense it. However it's faint enough that you'd likely lose track of it if she moved more then ten meters away. Annoying. Maybe there's some way for you to train your magic sense so that it's more sensitive and you could track magical signatures more easily? Something to think about later you suppose.

"My apartment is a rather far from here so we should get going. I hope you're all okay with a bit of walk." Mami says, addressing all three of you. She takes the lead, guiding your small group out of the concrete area and in to the streets of the city. Kyubey stays in her arms, occasionally looking back you with soulless eyes. Madoka and Sayaka walk beside her, making conversation. You pay attention at first but as it seems they aren't talking about anything important you tune them out, preferring to keep watch on your surroundings.

And for good reason. You feel like you're being watched, by what or who you can't tell though. Whatever's following your group is very stealthy and either doesn't give off a magic signature or is suppressing it somehow because you can't sense anything. In fact there's nothing to indicate you're being followed at all but your gut says that you are and you've learned to listen to your instincts. So you keep your guard up and try to decide what to do about your tail.

Before can make up your mind though, Mami turns around to look at you. "Aren't you going to transform back, Mister Tatsuya?" She asks you. It's a good question. You don't know how to do that. In fact you're pretty sure you can't. You don't have a problem staying this powerful permanently but Mami might see it as a sign of hostility or distrust.

What do?
[] Just say no.
[] Try to transform back.
[] Suggest that you might get back to Mami's home faster if she transformed and the two of you carried Madoka and Sayaka over the rooftops.
[] Deflect the issue and tell her that you're being followed.
[] Something else? (Write in)
