I'm not really sure if there's any continuity between an MG pushed over the brink and the witch itself, so I honestly don't see it as a massive OMGWTFBBQ. Now if they're at least somewhat aware of what they've become and trapped until they're killed...

Yes, if you get too sad, you die in a horrific way, that's terrifying, but I'm fairly sure in a reality where the laws of physics are more like guidelines and causality itself is unravelling, you're likely to find fates far worse than death. Especially if the Devil was a psychotic Homura like most people seem to believe, then attracting its ire might very well mean an eternity of torment.

Ultimately, what matters more here is less the suffering contest between MGs and the MC, and the fact our MC is more maladjusted than any of the MGs and a clearly indicated danger to people he's around. I genuinely doubt there's a MG in PMMM who's first instinct when in a crowd is to start killing them. I mean, even Homu doesn't have to actively suppress instincts to kill anyone who's around her AFAIK, and I'm pretty sure she's a solid 11 on a 1-10 scale of how shitty an MG's life can get.
To clarify, the Witch is the MG sentenced to eternal torment.

Mami is Candeloro and vice versa the same way I am still me even after I go insane.

Given Urobuchi's tendencies I kinda suspected as much, although I'd argue it's not quite eternal given that most areas with a witch in them are liable to have an MG on hand to kill said witches after a certain amount of time. Still, point taken.

Not really?

The Witch is the Grief Seed the same way the MG is the Soul Gem. All MGs do are kill their Avatars and dump their angst on Witches. The Witches suffer all the time, expressed or not.

A Grief Seed is just the same Witch still suffering in eternal torment, just in a more compact, less dangerous form. Yeah this setting's nasty.

And this is why I haven't actually bothered to watch the show. I know a lot of Urobuchi's work is pretty good, but when you can conceivably plot out all the major plot points simply by saying "How can this get possibly more awful?" it's too damn dark. I'm all for tragedy, but I'm always of the belief that tragedy is best served seasoned with triumph.

I'll just take back what I said about MGs having it easier (barring the denizens of Hell having a grim dark fate awaiting them as well), but ultimately I'm more arguing how maladjusted Tatsuo is. Also, we are not letting Madoka become an MG, I know that's the entire point of PMMM, and that ultimately her fate is relatively positive, but fuck letting Big Sis put her immortal soul on the chopping block for any reason.

Without giving too much away, this is exactly why you SHOULD watch the show.

I've already been vaguely spoiled on the ending, and I'm almost certain I'll get around to it, and I'll probably enjoy it when I watch it, but the promise of the absolute rock bottom for the payoff at the very end I'm sort of aware of has me, pensive, would probably be a good way to describe it. Who knows, this quest might make me finally decide, fuck it I can handle the feelz from a binge marathon for a few weeks.

I guess I'm suspecting an absolute cliff of tragedy without triumph just for a single triumph at the very end to make it all worth it. And that works, it just has me leery of watching it unless I'm positively sure I'll hit the payoff otherwise I'll probably turn myself into an emotional wreck until I do.

To be honest, when I first watched PMMM, I felt extremely numb throughout the whole series and just pegged it as "Not good, but not bad either."

I didn't really feel anything save for when Mami first showed up and when Sayaka smiled a really charming smile.

It took one read of PMAS for me to really feel anything. Kind of like a delayed reaction to getting punched in the gut since someone reminded me I got punched in the gut andohgodwhydoesithurtmeso?!

You probably won't turn into a emotional wreck near instantly Karagus. Probably. Maybe.

Votes aren't closed. Those of you who don't want to go to town on the familiars with your bare hands should probably consolidate your votes. Or you could go and tecruit other people to support you votes! I'd like that.

that... is not the tally I'm getting.
Apparently Firn's program hasn't been fixed yet.
