Actually, here: The Witch card profile for the original concept of Yui's Witch:

the hollow witch
The Hollow Witch, whose nature is to carry burdens.

A tender-hearted witch who cannot abide suffering. She has discarded everything that once filled her heart and now exists merely to carry the burdens of others. All who enter the garden of her barrier will know only joy, their sorrows stolen away to be borne by the witch who kneels in chains of her own making. Her tears fall freely, flowing as rivers that bring forth lotus blossoms wherever they reach.

As the weight of her burden grows, so too does the expanse of her garden. She will not rest until she has taken upon her back all the sorrows of the mortal world. Then, at the end of all things, the Hollow Witch shall weep alone forevermore.

???: Familiars of the Hollow Witch. Their duty is to care for the witch's guests and ensure their safety. As the outside world only causes pain, they regretfully forbid guests from leaving.

Basically a mini-Gretchen. :V
We've seen that one before, IIRC.

Edit: Oh, right, and I was worried someone may connect our family name to the names of the people who apparently own half of the city, find our home and murder them/assassinate us. Unsure of how real that concert is.
Echo has said that most - not all - magical girls don't try that, because there's stories of nice girls jumping immediately to deeply, deeply disproportionate revenge when their loved ones are hurt. If Yui wanted to go on a roaring rampage of revenge, I'm honestly not sure how much of Tokyo would be left standing when she was done; would YOU want to take the chance?
Again, judging by the words using that kanji, I think that's "alone" in the sense of standing apart or being distinctly one of a kind, not in the sense of "lonely". Though there's obviously some overlap there.
Yui: "The important thing to remember is that the cheese stands alone!"
Yui, /important nod.
Maiko, /sigh.

Anyone remember what our range is on our laser beams? I feel like if we were being indiscriminate we could just use our army of detectionguca to locate the offenders, and then fire giant fuckoff beams through many, many buildings to just annihilate them.

Edit: I wonder what Homura would think if she looped in, only to find Tokyo a wasteland.

Basically, yeah. Some nice girl who doesn't seem that dangerous turns out to have been a little more fragile emotionally than she seemed, something pushes her over the edge, she grief spirals to the point that she's convinced everyone she cares about is already screwed over because of stuff, decides she has nothing to lose and does a kamikaze run on whoever set her off, potentially witching out halfway through but continuing her rampage anyway, &c. Probably doesn't happen often but it's the sort of thing that gets remembered when it does, until you end up with a mostly-unspoken assumption of "yeah, escalating things like that is probably a bad idea".

Your range on the beams themselves is much larger than your range on being able to target them accurately, which requires something approximating line of sight.

"...convenient. I was getting low on nukes anyway."

Don't even need any special other powers, just a spotter and someone that can handle some math to take load off Yui, plus a few days to practice fire discipline and get things repeatable. Spotter calls a location, probably a street address. Director figures out range, elevation, and bearing, and passes that to Yui. Spotter starts passing video from their cell phone to tighten the loop. Yui fires a small nonlethal beam. Spotter observes, provides a correction. Larger corrections go through the director, who provides Yui with a range-elevation-bearing correction. Fire another small nonlethal beam. By this time they're probably catching it on video, so Yui gut-feels a final correction and fires for effect. Extra powers just make things simpler - for example, Minami as the spotter can probably get ranges and bearings directly out of her power without having to crunch the numbers, or Maiko might be able to provide changes to elevations and bearings using cheap magical illusions to take some load off Yui. The biggest difficulty would be Yui learning what it means to adjust her aim by, say, 45 seconds of arc, which'd probably require a day or two of practice.

I know we've made jokes about being the magical heavy artillery, but I didn't expect anyone to take it literally.

Yui has to practice firing her beams in a ballistic-ish trajectory first.

I suspect given the intent of BOTH Minami and Yui's wishes, this stunt would be surprisingly easy if they put their heart into it.

And intimidating.

No kidding. Can you imagine how giddy Minami would be doing the whole artillery call for fire routine? "Fire for effect" is up there with "Los Angeles Center, Aspen 20, can you give us a ground speed check?" for badass things you can do over a radio.

Remember Yui can lend out her power...and Minami's main weakness with her Ortillery is lower power to shoot with.

Now, ram Yui's big fat pink laser through her, Yui covers the cost and damage, Minami handles aiming her wand.

Now if only there existed somewhere on planet earth where this strategy could be useful.

Maybe if they find themselves fighting a witch on the Kanto plains somewhere, for some reason. Or out in Tokyo Bay.

Maybe they can pioneer the technique of killing a Witch from the entry point of her barrier without having to move a step?

We can shoot Walpurgisnacht right from Nagamioka? :V
Collateral damage does not matter if the city already destined to be destroyed.

Eh. I suspect that with some practice, Yui can do a decent "By Your Powers Combined, I Am Captain KillSat!" impression anyway. :V
And then they'll end blaming Kane for this.

That was no Ion Cannon!

It is interesting application to be sure, but probably not very useful. Witches can't be killed without entering the barriers (barring rare exceptions), and magical girls stick to inhabited areas where artillery bombardment would be frowned upon.

[X] Redshirt Army

Only thing I can think of worth mentioning is maybe having Minami keep and eye on Calligraphy girl so we can find her again.

Sorry guys, haven't really had much time to write recently. Anyway, votes are closed and Red Team wins--I'll try to finish the update today but it might not be done until tomorrow.

Red team continues to rack up victories. How is it possible!? :V

By number of replies in this thread, three of the top ten not-me people qualify for Red Team. That probably has something to do with it. :V

Not to mention that red, being arguably just a very dark shade of pink, is a Designated Protagonist Color. That's basically scientific proof of Red Team's success.

It probably helps that there isn't another team.

I kept hoping we'd manage to get a Blue Team going, but @Aoinfinity is the only one I can think of who qualifies based on username and there seems to be a distinct lack of Sayaka avatars these days.

I'd apply for the Blue team if there was anyone else around, but my votes never seem to be popular anyways.
