[CHAPTER 2: Please, Give me Wings: END]
[x] Immediately go to Dahlia
You crawled.
You crawled across the ground in a desperate attempt to get closer like you were someone running from the devil himself. Your hands fell sore and you bit your tongue to keep yourself from passing out from the blood loss and sheer agony now starting to creep into your nerves as a result of your adrenaline wearing thin and reality setting in.
Your palms blistered, then popped, then reformed and popped once more. Blood made your hands slick as you dragged yourself across the floor, getting closer and closer to her until you reached out, laying a red hand on her wrist. She stared at you with wide, yet dull eyes, before tears slowly trickled down her face as she pulled you closer.
You opened your mouth to try and speak. What came out was a whimper.
[X] Cleanse Yourselves/Reattach your left leg
Dahlia wasn't letting you go, but managed to grab the blood-stained Grief Seed sitting nearby. She immediately popped it against your Gem, it now a distinctly darker shade that warbled and warped with an evasive shadow. Once it connected, you could witness impurities be drained from the crystal like water down a tub drain as it felt a
weight was released from your chest, making it easier to breathe, almost.
"Mind… getting that?" You said, pain slightly alleviated but not cured as you pathetically gestured towards your missing leg with your left hand.
Your girlfriend hadn't stopped crying, but managed to grip the lost limb with rather precise efficiency and link it back to your body in a matter of seconds and one well-placed flash of magic.
The pain subsided with such a fierce 180 that you nearly fell unconscious from the sudden shock alone. There wasn't even a scar.
You lost your leg and there wasn't even a
scar.
You looked dumbfounded at Dahlia, who was still bawling her eyes out.
"I'm okay."
She shoved you in a rage and flew to her feet. "Why didn't you go?! You could have been killed!"
You flopped to your back in an act of surrender. It wasn't even a hard shove, but her tone was more than enough of an impact on you.
"I should be dead."
"Don't say that!"
"You fight those things on a regular basis."
"Yeah, but that was before I- you-
GAH!" Whatever fear occupied Dahlia's headspace was now replaced by what looked to you like a mixture of guilt and aggravation as she tugged on her hair in a futile coping mechanism.
Climbing to your feet, you pulled her into a hug as she scowled at you. She wasn't upset at you- but herself.
"I know, I'm reckless and risked my life, blah blah. Just come here, stupid. I'm just glad you're alive, quit being difficult."
She eased up a tad, before reciprocating the gesture. "I love you."
"Love you too."
"You're still an ass, though."
[x] Leaving/Debriefing
After the night you've had-
Well, day and a half you've had, all you want is to leave this… oddly decorated chamber.
The moment Dahlia saw your weary eyes, she transformed and immediately smashed a hole through a nearby window with her halberd as she motioned for you to follow her out.
You're good at following instructions.
As the two of you made your way away from this hellish hotel, the conversation came
"I'm guessing there's a good amount of stuff to catch up on. What happened to that weird chick you mentioned?"
Dahlia's body tensed as her face immediately contorted into a frown. "Alina. She's insane."
"I'll guess you guys didn't hit it off?"
She pulled away, balling up her fists in rage. "She released the Witch that nearly ate you and me, so no, we aren't friends!" She punctuated that last part with a bright, sarcastic smile and bit of an obnoxious giggle. Time to drop it.
"That's one… what do we do about Mami?" You pursed your lips.
The topic of your eviscerated comrade managed to get her to cool it a tad and speak softly.
"I don't know." She managed after a bit of a lingering pause. "I hope she's okay."
Awkward silence filled the air as the two of you moved across the reach of the night.
Mami had to be alive.
You hoped.
You
really hoped.
[END OF CHAPTER 2
So… I'll be frank, I didn't expect to get this far! This whole thing was a passion project that I thought up of after reading through SayakaQuest and Adfligo Systema multiple times- And I have a couple of niche internet followers!
In all honesty, there are moments of me contemplating ending this with a mix of exhaustion and intrusive thoughts, but I'm determined to see this through! As such, we're finally making our way to progress the main plot. I've got the mindset going into this to finish Arc 1, and depending how we are by the end of that, we might get a sequel tour to see Yuna and some other faces.
In the meantime though, I'm gonna take a well-deserved nap. Chapter Three will likely release
Early November, if not a slight bit after Finals eventually roll around.
Till then!
