[X] Cleanse yourselves
-[X] Try to reattach your leg
-[X] search for Dahlia

the average fight an starting meguca has is usually their worst, so we can only go up after this, and it's also their most taxing, we're on witching territory rn

Feel free to improve this plan. Also, Dahlia knows about the Witch Bomb, huh? She really doesn't want to tell Nathaniel about it.

"You, Dahlia Sawyer, are a liar. If the feather did their job, you know of our intento. We're bringing salvation to all Magical Girls. What do you think that means?"

A chill ran down your spine.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Does he know?"

You broke.

"I won't become a witch." The words were hot and heavy in your mouth, and you seemed to spit them at your oppressor with a violent demeanor that you wouldn't dare to use against someone else.

My vote:
[X] Immediately go to Dahlia.
-[X] Cleanse yourselves.
-[X] Try to reattach your left leg.
-[X] Try to find a way to escape from the place.

[X] Plan Ensuring Dahlia Is Okay.
-[X] Ask if Dahlia is okay.
--[X] Ask her about what happened after your last telepathic message with her.
---[X] Ask Dahlia if she knows how to get out of here.

I'm more in favor of reattaching the leg first or simultaneously, so we don't pass out, bleed out and make Dahlia freak out (or worse, witch out). Otherwise, yeah. :)

[X] Get a leg up on being able to ensure Dahlia is okay.
-[X] Try to reattach your left leg.
--[X] Ask if Dahlia is okay, while you start healing it. Pause once major arteries and veins are reconnected to focus on waking her up, if she doesn't respond right away
-[X] Cleanse yourselves.
-[X] Ask her about what happened after your last telepathic message with her.
-[X] Try to find a way to escape from the place.

PMAL CHAPTER 2: END
[CHAPTER 2: Please, Give me Wings: END]

[x] Immediately go to Dahlia

You crawled.

You crawled across the ground in a desperate attempt to get closer like you were someone running from the devil himself. Your hands fell sore and you bit your tongue to keep yourself from passing out from the blood loss and sheer agony now starting to creep into your nerves as a result of your adrenaline wearing thin and reality setting in.

Your palms blistered, then popped, then reformed and popped once more. Blood made your hands slick as you dragged yourself across the floor, getting closer and closer to her until you reached out, laying a red hand on her wrist. She stared at you with wide, yet dull eyes, before tears slowly trickled down her face as she pulled you closer.

You opened your mouth to try and speak. What came out was a whimper.

[X] Cleanse Yourselves/Reattach your left leg

Dahlia wasn't letting you go, but managed to grab the blood-stained Grief Seed sitting nearby. She immediately popped it against your Gem, it now a distinctly darker shade that warbled and warped with an evasive shadow. Once it connected, you could witness impurities be drained from the crystal like water down a tub drain as it felt a weight was released from your chest, making it easier to breathe, almost.

"Mind… getting that?" You said, pain slightly alleviated but not cured as you pathetically gestured towards your missing leg with your left hand.

Your girlfriend hadn't stopped crying, but managed to grip the lost limb with rather precise efficiency and link it back to your body in a matter of seconds and one well-placed flash of magic.

The pain subsided with such a fierce 180 that you nearly fell unconscious from the sudden shock alone. There wasn't even a scar.

You lost your leg and there wasn't even a scar.

You looked dumbfounded at Dahlia, who was still bawling her eyes out.

"I'm okay."

She shoved you in a rage and flew to her feet. "Why didn't you go?! You could have been killed!"

You flopped to your back in an act of surrender. It wasn't even a hard shove, but her tone was more than enough of an impact on you.

"I should be dead."

"Don't say that!"

"You fight those things on a regular basis."

"Yeah, but that was before I- you- GAH!" Whatever fear occupied Dahlia's headspace was now replaced by what looked to you like a mixture of guilt and aggravation as she tugged on her hair in a futile coping mechanism.

Climbing to your feet, you pulled her into a hug as she scowled at you. She wasn't upset at you- but herself.

"I know, I'm reckless and risked my life, blah blah. Just come here, stupid. I'm just glad you're alive, quit being difficult."

She eased up a tad, before reciprocating the gesture. "I love you."

"Love you too."

"You're still an ass, though."

[x] Leaving/Debriefing

After the night you've had-

Well, day and a half you've had, all you want is to leave this… oddly decorated chamber.

The moment Dahlia saw your weary eyes, she transformed and immediately smashed a hole through a nearby window with her halberd as she motioned for you to follow her out.
You're good at following instructions.

As the two of you made your way away from this hellish hotel, the conversation came
"I'm guessing there's a good amount of stuff to catch up on. What happened to that weird chick you mentioned?"

Dahlia's body tensed as her face immediately contorted into a frown. "Alina. She's insane."

"I'll guess you guys didn't hit it off?"

She pulled away, balling up her fists in rage. "She released the Witch that nearly ate you and me, so no, we aren't friends!" She punctuated that last part with a bright, sarcastic smile and bit of an obnoxious giggle. Time to drop it.

"That's one… what do we do about Mami?" You pursed your lips.

The topic of your eviscerated comrade managed to get her to cool it a tad and speak softly.

"I don't know." She managed after a bit of a lingering pause. "I hope she's okay."

Awkward silence filled the air as the two of you moved across the reach of the night.

Mami had to be alive.

You hoped.

You really hoped.

[END OF CHAPTER 2

So… I'll be frank, I didn't expect to get this far! This whole thing was a passion project that I thought up of after reading through SayakaQuest and Adfligo Systema multiple times- And I have a couple of niche internet followers!

In all honesty, there are moments of me contemplating ending this with a mix of exhaustion and intrusive thoughts, but I'm determined to see this through! As such, we're finally making our way to progress the main plot. I've got the mindset going into this to finish Arc 1, and depending how we are by the end of that, we might get a sequel tour to see Yuna and some other faces.

In the meantime though, I'm gonna take a well-deserved nap. Chapter Three will likely release
Early November, if not a slight bit after Finals eventually roll around.

Till then!

Hmm just finished going through this story
Got to say that while the start felt rather slow I was quite pleased to see the pace and characters pick up my interest after the contract.
I do hope that you you find the time to update this story in the future

PMAL Chapter 3: That's what Friends are For.
"A friend is one soul abiding in two bodies." — Aristotle.

Your name is Nathaniel Heath.

And by god, you're exhausted.

You ever sleep in too long and wake up feeling somehow even less refreshed than when you passed out in the first place?

Imagine that, with the added stress of now not trying to lose a bauble on your finger. Dahlia taught you how to change your Soul Gem into a much more compact form, a ring which now rested on your left hand's middle finger, the nail now sporting a distinct sigil in the same shade. Runes, or at least some sort of writing you had no clue how to read were engraved into the trinket, but a string of losing a series of bracelets and charms whenever you'd sleep with them made you all the more wary to keep this one closer.

You didn't know why. Dahlia seemed apprehensive at the idea of you contracting, and her behavior from yesterday put you on edge. Even while thinking that, it felt like "yesterday" was an eternity ago. As for the gem itself, it felt... odd. The ring seemed to cling around your finger, like some sort of tourniquet making the damn thing tight and firm, the mystical metal tepid and off-putting against your body. It didn't make you entirely uncomfortable, though the presence of it definitely took away a level of ease that was established when you made the contract.

Speaking of Dahlia, her bare thigh rubbed against your torso as you sat on the bed in your room. After the previous escapades, the two of you decided it'd be best to share a room for the night to recoup.

And now her unconscious form, still dressed in her wrinkled clothes from the night prior, was plopped in an almost spread-eagle position with her limbs jutting out and prodding into you like forks at an hors d'oeuvre.

Yeah, no, time to do something.

Dahlia's Secret (An Analysis):

"You, Dahlia Sawyer, are a liar. If the feather did their job, you know of our intento. We're bringing salvation to all Magical Girls. What do you think that means?"

A chill ran down your spine.
Dahlia knows about the Magia and their goal of salvation.
"Does he know?"

You broke.

[ROLL: 95]

You thrust forward, sucker-punching Alina across the face as she went tumbling backward. Nobody could've seen it coming- sloppy as it might've been, it still hit the mark with relative ease and did a significant amount of damage. You heard the sound of a crack that you found gleefully disgusting.

"Do you ever SHUT THE UP?!"
In this instance, Dahlia broke due to not telling Nathaniel about the witch bomb. She doesn't want him to know about this due to her fearing his reaction and the fact that...
"I won't become a witch." The words were hot and heavy in your mouth, and you seemed to spit them at your oppressor with a violent demeanor that you wouldn't dare to use against someone else.
She released her Doppel. Which, if it weren't for the Magia... Would've resulted in her witching out.

In conclusion, Dahlia releases her Doppel, knows about the Magia and their mission, knows about the witch bomb, and is trying to keep it a secret from Nathaniel.

Thank you for reading this analysis!

PMAL Chapter 3 Part 2
[X] Reflect on... a lot
You shook Dahlia's shoulder gently. After a few rubs, she slowly stirred and snapped back to lucidity.

"...What?" She managed, looking exhausted.

Saliva pooled in the base of your mouth as Dahlia noticed the slight anxiety on your face. "What's wrong?"

"We need to talk."

Dahlia leaned up in the bed, tussling with some of her hair as she managed to tie it into a messy ponytail. "That's never a good sign."

You grimaced. "Please? We went through a lot and-"

"It's precisely why we shouldn't overthink it."

"I eviscerated someone."

That managed to break her attempt to change subjects as she let out a burnt out sigh.

"Okay, let's assume that Mami's been killed. Why would your instinctive wish to protect me destroy an innocent bystander?" She shrugged as she took your hand in hers. "You're catastrophizing."

"You told me you weren't able to contact her. And, mind you... I went into a mini-coma." You motioned to the ring on your finger. The shimmer of the lime crystal embedded into it did nothing to alleviate your stress.

"There was also the cult. And that-" Dahlia's voice halted in her throat as she seemed to cycle through an insult to use.

"That bitch that tried to hurt us?" You chimed in with a suggestion.

She gave a small smirk as she leaned closer into your person. "Don't get smart."

[X] Check the time/Privilege.

Now that was slightly reassuring. "I'm good at it."

Dahlia's grip tightened a bit. "So... what do we do now?"

You reached into your back pocket to check the time. The screen fizzled a bit with static before slowly showing the lock screen. It was around 11:30 A.M. on March 26th. Saturday.

You had the time. What's the plan?

You're not hallucinating, I'm making sure to be consistent with updates again while pacing myself!
Classes are coming to an end soon, so it's just a matter of finals and then I can devote more time to progressing the story. At this point in time, Chapter 2 is getting started (Iroha's investigating the sudden absence of Ui, Yachiyo gives her info on the concepts of the Uwasa), but I do have a few announcements.

First, an unofficial partnership- I've made a friend and they're very much putting out great looking Madoka Merch (Pins, stickers, and prints), so if you're interested be sure to check them out!

Shop Magical Girl Illustrations and Geekery by LittleLunarRabbit located in Denton, Maryland. Rave reviews! Average review rating is 4.8 or higher

Secondly, how interested would you all be in potential sketches/comic pages of certain moments in the story? I'd be open to a new way of retelling the plot points, especially since the thread's 1-year anniversary is nearing.
