[x] Try to discreetly message Mazlo on the Rose to see if he can intercept it.

Anyone else think it very strange for an openly illegal station to deliberately extend the time that a warship is sticking around? I was expecting 'sorry, we don't have what you need' rather than 'it will take us a few days'.

Asking personally is a dead end.
Signalling Mazlo relies on Mazlo.
Telling Grayson or Perbeck tips off the station… probably worsen relations unless they have a sudden change of heart.

That would be an obvious lie and a direct refusal to uphold their obligations to the empire in a time of military need. They would likely get obliterated as a warning to other stations/colonies if they attempted to pull such treason. On the otherhand, if they technically do what they're obligated to but at minimum effort the empire won't bother with meaningful repercussions until they're in a more stable position if at all.

They know something happened but can't get us to tell them, so they're trying to figure out a way to get information so that they don't feel left out in the lurch. It's clear that they don't think we're their friends, and the only leverage they have is the time it takes them to resupply us.

Less "openly illegal" and more...

Well, with the information you have, you know that they have illegally upgraded cutting tools. You don't know if they were flaunting that deliberately or if they were hoping no one noticed it or something else. That's the only openly illegal thing you've seen so far, everything else is mainly one a vaguely sketchy vibe.

The Imperial navy is comprised of professional soldiers so I imagine they have ways of communicating in code on book.

The plot thickens! My distaste towards Mister Flirty thickens also.
