Perhaps a journey

[x] Talk to keeper, gather a party (about 5 sounds right) of other hunters, all should be friends of you and volunteer for this mission. Make sure you have one specialist for tracking. Gather supplies for a long journey.

The reason I'm choosing spears isn't because of the spear, but the poison. It's pretty much a combat equalizer once you get that stuff in them. We're not supposed to use it all the time, just when we need it to make whatever we're killing easier to handle. And heck, we can even just use it to capture people since it's a paralytic and not a death poison. So yea, much more utility in the poison than the chain imo.

And to get the chain, not only would we have to give up our current stock of poison. But all our money too, so we can't get any more. Not worth it, even if the chain can be cool.

Spears are not reusable. They are also actually a bit more complicated than just wood since they have to function as a poison carrier. They are made by soaking the wood in a specific way. You can make them if you have the wasp venom, but would have to search to create something similar.

Spending all of our money right before going to the big city sounds like a recipe for disaster anyway. Yes, as a fairy we can find some out of the way places to sleep, and food is less expensive and more plentiful, but still.

[X] Talk to keeper, gather supplies for a long journey.
-[X] Tell some of our friends about out mission and say they're free to come along.

Am I the only one who sees a long line of slightly maimed Big People who didn't take us seriously in the future?

For the record, you could gather more hunters. I can't guarantee it would be a good idea, but you could. Keep in mind that they would have their own wants and needs, and wouldn't necessarily be as used to big people as you.

[X] Talk to keeper, gather supplies for a long journey.

With that sort of business done, you head back to the keeper to keep her updated. The fairy receives your news with a solemn air.

"I suppose I should not be surprised." She shakes her head and sighs. "Dreamers would probably be a curiosity for them, and considering how little awareness they have, they must have seemed easy prey. That you are going after the rest does ease my mind some. You will be the first of our people to leave the jungle for centuries, I would hate to have our first impression to others be one of us who awakened with the desire to kill them all-l."

"It would be funny in a sort of 'you brought this on yourself' way-y." You comment quietly.

"Perhaps, but not something I would deliberately wish on another." The keeper gives a quiet laugh. "Though I don't think inflicting you on them will be much better-r."

"Hey-y!" You protest. You aren't that bad!

Still smiling the keeper hands you a small glass bottle. You blink as you take it. Glass-work is almost unheard of among you. You've seen a grand total of one item, a large glass decoration in your capital city that shines as it casts rainbows. It's extraordinarily rare. Something like this is probably one of a kind. It glitters as you twist it, filled with something you can't identify.

"Be careful with this." She states as you look it over. "Open that, and you will cause everything within an area to fall asleep. Including one of us. It will take time to spread, and the bottle itself is very durable, so open it, throw it, and keep away-y."

"Thank you-u." You nod to her. It's really a very valuable gift.

"Have fun Oma. That's something key to all of us-s." The keeper smiles at you, and flies away.

Aside from that event, you gather together a large pack of items that you would need for a long journey. Typically you can scavenge what you need to travel light, but sometimes you've not been able to, so you do have some experience in this.

You have to give up two shinies, but get enough venom for around two dozen more spears, get something to maintain your sword and armor, and several changes of clothing. Provisions amount to a few dried berries (You don't anticipate being that worried about food), and a way to gather dew should you need it. Aside from that, you are good for a long way away.

You meet up with Diana the next day, and she raises her eyebrow at your large pack, but hands you a metal tube.

"Take this, go east until you hit a very large city with a big stone building in the center. It's grey and will have a flag that looks like this atop it." She shows off a small one that has a picture of the head of a hound. It's red and white. "You be looking for Rufus of the Three Shields Bloodline. Give him this letter and he be assisting you."

"All right." You take the metal tube. It's small enough that you can strap it under your pack. "Sounds good-d."

"I would hope so." Diana smiles briefly. "I be sending a better report later, but you be far faster than anything by land. And speed be of the essence in this matter."

[] Travel plans?

[X] We have a destination, and a Mission. Find our missing Dreamers, kill the Slavers, and don't forget to deliver the message Diana gave us. And we've been working on our Speed recently, haven't we? Why don't we see how Fast we can reach this big stone building! Race the Wind~! But don't forget to keep an eye out for your destination!

Should we really be doing the Fairy equivalent of sprinting straight to our destination? That sounds like a good case for exhaustion depending on how far it is.

Then again, It could be nice stamina training.

Edit: On the other hand. We really do need to get started on tracking those fairies down asap though, and being tired won't help us at all.

Not Sprinting, we're following the Keepers advice and having Fun along the way. Fun is an inherent part of our nature, and if we don't indulge when we can, it could cause problems down the line.

Besides, I Really want to see if we can outpace the wind. Even if we fail, the Attempt is enough for now

With your destination in mind, you begin to speed on your way. It's the second time you've really been out of your jungle, and you are again reminded at how different it is. The sun is fully visible, there is barely any rain, and you only have to dodge one thing trying to eat you. The bird that dive bombs you at midday makes a surprisingly good meal once you've hacked out the choicer bits.

It's also grassy and hilly. Some of the really big hills make interesting things to fly over. As a rule, you tend to keep close to the ground to keep a low profile, but that doesn't mean you can't get some decent altitude should you wish it.

You have a fair bit of fun really. The jungle is an obstacle course to fly through. You've never really been able to just fly. You actually overdo it a just a tad as you push yourself to go all out. You aren't a marathon flier. That would be more a seeker's job. You are more a sprinter.

So when you see the city in the distance, you are a bit tunnel visioned. The sun is starting to set, and you are quite exhausted at this point. It's not that big a deal, but you have to dial it back quite a bit when you float over the city, and probably miss quite a few interesting things. That's fine. You can see the big stone building.

You leisurely fly to it and find one of the big people standing atop it in what looks to be very shiny armor. You float up to him and smile.

He blinks at you incredulously and pinches himself.

"Hiii!" You chirp. "I'm looking for Rufus! Where is he-e?"

"Who?" The man asks with a slightly dazed expression.

You shrug and dart past the man inside the stone building. You hear some sort of commotion behind you, but you ignore it. The next big person you see is dressed in a rather plain looking dress. She has a remarkably similar expression as you approach and ask. At this point you are mildly annoyed, but aren't showing it. You dart further into the castle and frown as you take a break. You are hungry, and tired. It might be best to find some food and rest before you look more.

At this point you smell something very yummie. So you follow that. It leads you down the hallway, and through a slightly ajar door.

There is a lot of food there. With no one around. Delicious! You've never seen food like this before. All of it looks so divine you can't tell what you want. You pick at some sort of meat with a convenient tool to take the edge off the hunger, and then bite into something red.

"Eeee!" You shriek and dive into one of the goblets. That was spicy!

You sputter a bit as you finish drinking. The stuff in the goblets isn't much better either.

"And who might you be?" A serious male voice states.

You look up at the Big Person. He's dressed in fancy clothing, and there are several others behind him, all of them staring at you with wide eyes. Nifty.

[x] "Hii~, would any of you happen to be this Rufus person?"
- [x] "Also, do you have anything not spicy to drink?" Hot, hot, hot.

[X] "Hi-i! I'm Oma! I was sent to deliver a message to someone named Rufus, but nobody wants to tell me who that is-s! And I kinda overdid it on the way here, so I'm tired and hungry, but then I smelled something Delicious~ and went to investigate! And then I had some of this stuff, but its Realllly spicy, and that's no good! And then you came in and asked my name. Oh right. Do you know where I can find this Rufus person-n? I have a message for him from Diana-a!"

[x] "Hii~, would any of you happen to be this Rufus person? I have a letter for him."
- [x] "Also, do you have anything not spicy to drink-k?" Hot, hot, hot.

Yeah, this looks better than what I wrote. Switching vote.

"Hii~, would any of you happen to be this Rufus person? I have a letter for him." You chirp out as you smile at the new ones, and then make a face as the spice burns your mouth. "Also, do you have anything not spicy to drink-k?" Hot, hot, hot.

The man chuckles slightly as comes into the room, the rest of the people following warily. "There is some milk in the picture to your side. The firewine be an acquired taste."

He seats himself as you look at the indicated item and frown. It's big, and you don't want to fly into it. A spoon nearby (Not that you know what it was) makes a good way of getting enough for a few mouthfuls. It slakes the burning sensation quite a bit.

"As for this Rufus," The man continues as he settles himself. "Rufus of what might I ask."

"Oh, Three Shields Bloodline." That's what Diana called him. "Diana gave me a letter for him." You point to the metal tube you had set down while you grabbed some food.

You pursue the rest of the stuff. Since you don't recognize half of it you have to be a bit careful. The rest of the Big People look at you with still wide eyes as you walk past them, but they seem to be taking the man's nonchalance as a note to act normal. You finally settle on some of what looks to be a soup of some type. It's tasty and smooth to your senses.

"I see." You look up at the man's statement and see he has looked at the letter. "This be rather important indeed." He takes up a small metal bell and rings it. A servant comes up and starts when she sees you. "Send for Rufus Three Shields immediately please."

The woman nods and moves off.

You shrug and turn back to the rest of the food. One of the little big people shly hands you a fruit of some sort. You smile and bite into it as you sit. It's very sweet, and juicy. Very good to wash the rest down. It's also about all you can eat.

"You be a fairy of the Twisted Jungle then." The man speaks up as he begins to help himself to some of the food. "Diana has reported of your people, but it be interesting to see one of you in person."

"I guess-s?" You turn to the man and lounge a bit. Your armor makes it not as comfortable as it could be.

"The letter tells me that three of your 'dreamers' have been taken here, and that if they 'awaken' it might be a problem." He continues as he eats.

You nod at that. "Dreamers are fairies that are drifting. They don't register much. If they find something that they want, they will wake up. It would be a bit of an issue if they 'want' to escape. I would be a bigger one if they 'want' to make certain it doesn't happen again. In this case they would decide that your people would be a threat." You make a face. "For some reason Big People don't think we are dangerous. That's really silly. You are really squishy compared to other things we have to deal with-h."

"Squishy?" One of the other Big People asks incredulously.

You shrug. "It's the best way to describe it. You aren't that fast, you aren't that durable, I'm pretty certain that one of my spears would drop one of you too, so you aren't that resistant either. Plus, since you are so big I can fly circles around you all without issue-e."

"You sound very confident in that." The man at the head of the table states. "Do you think you could prove it?"

"Well, I'm kinda tired." You admit, but look around. "If you want though, throw that round thingy in the air-r." You point at the orange fruit you see at the table.

One of the little Big People picks it up and looks to the man at the head. He nods and she throws it up. You watch it ascend and spread your wings, pulling out your sword. At the height of the throw, you blur out of sight. As fast as you can manage you speed to the fruit and slash. Your sharp sword parts the fruit easily, and then you stab your sword into one half. The other half arcs away, and you chase after it, stabbing it as well.

Then you drop to the table with the halves on your sword. Smiling brightly you present them to the man who takes them off the tip of it with a respectful look. You try not to show that you are about at your limit now. Ow.

"I be impressed." The man states calmly. "And I could understand why you would say that now."

"I would happen to agree." Another man walks in. This one has shiny silver hair too. "Your majesty." He bows as he approaches. "I believe you summoned me?"

"Indeed." He passes the letter to the new one. Rufus you assume. "I would request that you make this your highest priority."

He reads it, and looks to you with a frown. "I will do so my leige. With the way the Black Market is, this might take some time. Be you aware of how long it would take for one of your people to awaken Oma?"

"Umm." You shake your head. "It's really kinda how the Dreamers are. Some never wake up. Others just need the right push. Some also do it when they are threatened. That's one of the more common ones. Kinda how I woke up really-y."

"I be expanding my search for murders then." Rufus grimaces. "This has all the markings of a big problem."

"I hope it doesn't come to that." The Majesty person states as he nods to you. "Oma and her people seem quite entertaining. I would hate to have one of them be less so."

Rufus nods at that. "I be handling this then your majesty. Oma, if you would follow me? I can arrange a place for you to sleep, and you look to be nodding off now."

You twitch and nod at the man. "Ok. Sounds good. It's a long flight from the jungle-e."

"Considering the letter was written last night, you just covered a weeks travel in a day." Rufus comments as he shakes his head.

You shrug as you follow the silver haired man. He takes the time to look you over as you float next to him, and then laughs a bit. You see him stop a maid to say something, and continue onwards.

"This be my room." He opens up a door and you see a table inside with another room behind it. "I've arranged for something for you. You be too small for a bed we might use."

"That might be an issue-e." You state dryly as you set yourself on the table, dropping your pack on it.

"I think you can use the washbin to wash up." He points to a small area and shows you how to start and stop the water. It's pretty nifty you have to admit, and you've never had hot water before. "A bed for you should be here soon. When you hear a knock just say come in."

You nod your understanding as the man moves into another room. "I be going to bed. Talk to you in the morning."

You start up the water and take the time to really enjoy your first hot bath ever. It's an interesting experience, and you don't even mind getting your wings soggy. The knock comes as you are resting, near half asleep inside the tub.

"Come in-n!" You chirp.

A maid peaks her head in, and apparently doesn't spot you. She walks in carrying a basket of some sort. Your bed you assume. "Master Three Shield?" She asks quietly.

"He's sleeping-g!" You state, and watch her turn and stare at you with very wide eyes.

"Of. Of. Course." She stammers out, and looks at you. "He asked for a basket, a pillow and some baby blankets. I have them here."

"Oh, that's my bed then. Put it on the table I guess-s?" You aren't really sure where else to put it really.

"Yes Mistress." The woman bows and sets it down before almost running out.

Huh. You wonder what that was about.
