Ok, I still like the idea of currying favour with Modolfr. If Harald comes to ask him questions I'd rather Modolfr have some interest in providing faulty or incomplete information.

Maybe a different order of operations then:
- Skallagrim
- Seidr that Bestla recommended
- Erlinger
- Dumvalds ship

Depending on where the ship is in relation to Skallagrim or the Seidr could even ask them to head to the North Quarter and take us from there. Give us an escape plan without having them risk outlawry.

Thoughts?

While having friends is nice I do not believe Modolfr would misinform Harald Ice Walker would he come to Modolfr asking questions as Harald Ice-Walker far outclasses us in combat.

Yeah. This. The Norse can't lie without severe consequences and Harald isn't gonna ask gently if Modolfr avoids answering at first. I dunno for sure if Harald is gonna ask, but Modolfr has just demonstrated how he'll respond if asked forcefully. He'll sing like a canary.

I'm hearing a lot of naysaying and not a lot of solutions :p

More seriously, thanks for catching me up on the lore.

So how do we get answers out of Erlingr.. We're functionally an outlaw still.

...

"Modolfr, why didn't you ask for payment upfront?"

…well fuck, he'd eat us alive if we tried to replicate what we did here.

Yeah. I'm not sure if talking to him is even useful at that point...he's not gonna tell us a damn thing. I'm sort of at a loss to how to proceed from here. Like, treat injuries, fix stuff up, sure, but beyond that...try and find a friendly seeress? Maybe? We might just want to leave Iceland for that, though.

We should try and pull at the silkworm lead before we leave.

The loss of the worms was the source of the leverage for two of the key pieces at our trial.

It was almost certainly enemy action.

That's fair. I'm a little at a loss on how to investigate that, though. Seems like either we talk to people, which is tricky as an outlaw, or get a Seeress on it, maybe, but that's back to the same problem...

We could always try to take samples of the dirt and mulberry trees to see if there's any trace to help the eventual Seeress, even if there's no trace it should give them a sympathetic link to the worms, but I'm not sure if that's worth the risk of rolling up on the Godi's farms

So don't. Think outside the box. Erlingr has to have spoken to someone in his household about it, right? A trusted son, his loving wife, a loyal confidant? They are not as strong as Erlingr, who must leave his home at some point in time.

I guess that's fair enough. Do we recognize Erlingr on sight?

Mmm. Probably fair, though we'd need to be sneaky, probably.

Getting answers out of people close to Erlingr would work, though we would need information on his relations, guess we should seek out the Skald then.

Why not throw in a third competing vote!?

[X] Go to ground somewhere away from Modolfr's land, treat our injuries, set small game snares if we packed any line, and repair our equipment, then get a good night's sleep. On the morrow, venture to the former silkgrove the two tools that were used against us based their fortunes on and attempt to get a sample of Soil, wood, and if the Norn are merciful a silkworm corpse.

Sure, worth a shot.

What's the plan for the silkworm corpse?

Hand it to a Seeress or Seidrmadr* somewhere that's not here and see if the local Seeress is merely favorably disposed towards towards our enemy due to the link with Harald or if she's fully compromised and complicit.

*A word pretentious quibblers use instead of Seer.

I'm sure the Godi won't stop us trying to solve the silkworm mystery. Proof of the culprits wrongdoing would probably give him cause for restitution or something right?

Alright, time to call the vote.
