[X] Preemptive strike. (Success rate: 4/6)
Unless we really have to run away, I think it's for the best to start fighting, since we don't want to leave old man alone. Clearly, we need to SL old man so we can have the best ship for our main character, AuraXTraining .
Seeing an opportunity and seizing it, you charged towards the bandit, and tackled him. While your force was not enough to knock him down, it staggered him for a short moment - just enough for you to create some distance between the two of you. So when he tried to retaliate with his short sword, it missed you by a long shot.
The bandit grunted, and gazed at you fiercely. You returned a fierce gaze towards him in response.
For a moment, the two of you stood there, waiting for a chance to go at each other - but neither opting to take a risk and charge first.
The bandit had a tight grip on his short sword, but his free hand was prepared to strike as well. Your earlier attack, fortunately, has damaged his pride - just enough to make him be cautious of you.
Your body was tense. Your heart was beating faster than usual. While there is the chance of your losing the fight and dying here, you didn't feel afraid. In fact, you felt confident in yourself - that you could emerge victorious in this encounter. Ready to act in an instant, you take a deep breath.
[] Kick some dirt towards the bandit. If it doesn't temporarily blind him, it should catch him off guard and give you a chance to strike.
[] Charge in blindly. He most likely wouldn't expect it and would cause his attacks to be off the mark.
[] Flee. If he follows you, you can just lose him deeper in the forest.
[] Write-in.

You kicked dirt towards the bandit, aiming for his eyes. It was a cheap move, but as you learned from the old man, you shouldn't be ashamed for playing dirty. Especially when your life is on the line. Unfortunately, the bandit reacted quickly, using his free arm to block your attempt to blind him.
However, your plan didn't stop there.
Without hesitation, you kicked him. Caught off guard, the bandit was pushed back and flinched for a short moment. You pushed your attacks relentlessly - first you disarmed him, grabbing his sword arm on the wrist and striking it, forcing him to let go and drop his weapon on the ground. Then, you threw a flurry of punches his way, though his gear seem to have prevented him from taking a lot of damage. Still, your aggression has made him go on the defense, and after a short while, it was enough to make him take a few steps away from you.
Unfortunately, he tripped on a rock, falling on his back.
Still focused in the fight, you approached him quickly.

Hopefully lucky rock strike will just knock unconscious and/or give a concussion rather than killing, that is to say, if we're lucky .
