[X]"Why did staying at that house get me arrested?"
I don't think we got an answer to this particular question.

We did, in fact, get an answer to that from the old man.
"That house once belonged to a war hero, and his dear friend, Ponnier.", the old man said. "When the war came to a halt, it, along with several other relics, was preserved by the nobles to honor the efforts of the ones who went to fight the war. Staying there is the same as stealing from the town's treasury itself - not to mention that the Oledge nobles have quite a very firm stance on their possessions."

You gave it some thought. A reward? But the last time Hyzeeldar did something for you it brought you here, despite you simply wishing for magic to be real. You thought about asking for a weapon to help you out should you place in more dangerous situations, you thought about asking for magic, and many more. But none of them seemed to sound like Hyzeeldar would grant them to you without a twist. So, you decided to go with the safest option you could think about.

You asked Hyzeeldar a question.

"How can I best please you without suffering on my part?", you said.

The very moment those words came out of your mouth, you knew this wasn't what you should have done. A chill ran up your spine. You began to sweat. You didn't know why, but you knew Hyzeeldar was out there, with a big malevolent grin on his face. The very next second, you heard Hyzeeldar's maniacal laughter.

"This world is not without suffering. However, I can lessen the sufferings you shall witness and experience here. But at a cost, of course."

A jagged dagger appeared in your left hand. "And what price is that exactly?"

"Kill him."

"What?"

"Kill the old man, girl."

Your grasp on the knife was firm, but your hands were trembling. The old man had the kindness to help you escape prison, prioritized your freedom over his. He even trained you the basics of fighting and survival. And now, you plan to kill him. Just so you won't suffer as much as you should.

You have to kill him.

Right?

[] Do the deed.
[] Reject Hyzeeldar's offer.

warning
Both options have negative outcomes. However, they are not of equal weight. Choose wisely, everyone.

Isn't it, like, a career staple for old mentors to die for the benefit of the main character?

[] Do the deed.

Nah. Too little motivation.

Ha, lol no. Seriously tho, even if it's better in the long run, like Hyzeeldar says, I still refuse to be an ungrateful bastard.

Decision
You clenched your free hand. You gritted your teeth. Sweat stopped flowing from your pores. Your heart began to get calmer, and the chills in your spine faded gradually. You have made your choice, and whatever Hyzeeldar will throw at you for it, you will face it head on. If that is what it takes to live in this world without tainting your identity, then so be it.

"No!", you said firmly and loudly. You threw the knife onto the ground. "I will not do it."

"Even if it shall lessen your suffering?"

"Yes." A burning passion was sparked within you. Hyzeeldar didn't sound as terrifying as it did before, anymore.

Hyzeeldar laughed ominously, as it faded away quickly. The knife disappeared into thin air.

You were too busy chatting with the voice in your head that you didn't realize the old man wasn't where he used to be. You felt a gentle tap on your shoulder, which made you to turn towards the source - only to find out that the old man was there.

"Why are you so loud?", he said. "This is still a forest, kid. Loud noises attract attention, and we don't want that."

"Sor-" Before you could finish your words, the old man silenced you.

"Get behind me.", he whispered as he crouched. You did as he said.

Several bushes rustled in your surrounding. The old man's gaze tried to follow the source of these noises, his head turning from one side to the other frequently. He clenched his right hand, and muttered something under his breath.

"If you can still hear me, now is the time, O Guider of Fates.", you heard him say.

In that very moment, a dim light appeared within his clenched fist for a second, only to be followed by the sudden emergence of a short, wooden club - that he now held. Granted, it didn't seem like it would be very efficient in a fantasy world like this - as even the guards from before had swords and bows and all that.

The old man took a quick glance to his the weapon in his hand. "Hm.", he commented. "No time to be picky."

An alarming sound came from the north of location. The bushes were rustling. And in a sudden...

[] A group of ruggedly-dressed people burst through, with their weapons drawn.
[] A pack of over-sized wolves with very distinct features rush in.
[] Several towering bears with literal rocks as their hides enter the fray.
[] Write-in. (Monster/Enemy description)

I would have voted yes had I been in time.

Outnumbered and Outgunned
A group of ruggedly-dressed people burst through, with their weapons drawn. Compared to the guards in the prison, their equipment looked less polished and more like scraps and scavenged goods. To you and the old man, however, those should prove to be more than enough.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five.

Five of them entered the scene.

"Bandits.", the old man said with a grunt. He gently pushed you backwards, opting you to make your escape. While he seemed to have confidence in himself, he wasn't sure if he would be able to take care of them, given his current state. He only had a wooden club and nothing else, after all.

You understood the situation, and began to create distance between the two of you.

A big mistake.

The old man's eyes tracked each on the bandit's movements, and as soon as he realized one of them was going to you, he was already surrounded by the remaining four. A battle between them would ensue soon by the looks of it.

You, who were backing away slowly, was being followed by one with a short sword. It wasn't a sharp one, but his weapon wasn't that dull to not possess a threat. You could still end up getting hurt if you got hit by that. You come to a halt, shortly after bumping with a tree stump - just fortunate enough not to fall down on it. You clenched your fist, and prepared to defend yourself.

"I know the boss doesn't like having any survivors in our encounters...", he said, as he approached you. "...but you look like you'd fetch quite a price in the market. And we're a bit lacking in funds right now."

He was getting nearer and nearer. The moment he was close enough, he winded back his unarmed arm, and prepped to throw a punch towards you - thinking that you were just some helpless little girl, with how you look.

[] Preemptive strike. (Success rate: 4/6)
[] Parry and retaliate. (Success rate: 3/6)
[] Dodge and flee. (Success rate: 4/6)

Combat/Fight Scenes 101
There will be times when Aura will have to fight. In those cases, Aura will have different options on how to approach the fight - which will generate more options regarding her actions during the fight as it progresses.

Most of the time, the options will be using dice to determine whether or not they are going to be successful.

Depending on how the fight goes and ends, Aura may be able to learn new abilities, strengthen her already known skills, and even raise her stats. Perhaps even gain something else!

I'll reveal more info as the current scenario progresses.
