So...going back over the fight, some interesting things worth pointing out:

1) Taylor pushed Harry further than she was originally willing to go with nothing but the same basic, generic shooter spell (just in huge numbers and coordinated patterns) and flight. Literally, that was it. She wasn't even using a device.

2) Hell, she decided to try and more or less build a new spell from the gutted remains of one of the few other spells she knows while fighting. And she somehow successfully made a short-range, high-speed teleportation spell that actually worked...in a matter of seconds, while devoting most of her attention to fighting. (Granted, said spell had some serious flaws/bugs that need to be worked out, but the fact that it worked at all is astounding.)

3) This was basically her first fight ever. Yes, she slaughtered some dinosaurs while in Unison mode, but that's little more than target practice with God Mode on and aimbot enabled. She demonstrated an intuitive grasp of tactics, unravelled her opponent's weapon-based deception fairly quickly, and didn't let herself get tilted despite facing a much stronger and more experienced opponent in a match she felt very conflicted and insecure about.

Nanoha loves overwhelming her opponents with sheer firepower. Fate tends to use a combination of speed and advanced melee. But Taylor has a ridiculous level of multitasking and control. I could easily see her becoming a nightmare once she learns how to control the trajectory of her shots after firing them, or develops stronger shooter spells, or really practices her new teleportation spell to the point that she can spam it. And once she reaches that level and tries out Unison Mode? Goddamn.

...I wonder when Taylor is going to learn that her adoptive mother foster mother "host" is not only famous, but also one of the very strongest mages in the TSAB. It'd be kind of like finding out that the foster parent you'd been living with all along was actually Legend...married to Alexandria. Who are BFFs with Eidolon. And that you are an apprentice under Hero. Hell, I wonder how Harry would react to finding out that she'd picked a (sparring) fight with the Ace of Aces' new adopted daughteru.

@DestinyPlayer I was going back through some of the old threadmarks, and I noticed the magic circle you made for Taylor uses Tenno script. Does it say anything in particular, or is it just random gibberish you converted to look cool? If the former, do you still remember/have record of what it says?

I mean I could go try and manually translate it letter by letter, but it seems like it would be a bit tedious for something that's ultimately just a minor curiosity.

The inner circle says:
"Queen of escalation Taylor Hebert and her device Mariposa are here now what"
The outer circle has, unfortunately, been lost as I had to do it in Photoshop and forgot to save the WIP file before rasterizing the shit out of it. Sorry.

HA! Thank you for indulging my curiosity. Got to say, it really is an excellent script to use for this kind of thing. Looks very magical.

Why, why are you wasting time and energy making grr angy man posts about something that is not against the rules and which you could tell very quickly was not an update?

Is this really the best use you have for your time?

I never understood that mentality. It should be pretty obvious if it's a post from the OP or not.

Necros aren't against the rules. They are, however, rather rude.

Necroing is not rude. It is actually completely irrelevant, except inasmuch as it might, coincidentally, be qualifying *anyway* as "contentless disruption". Since apparently no one remembers the rules...

Commonly called "necroposting", posting in threads long after the last reply is not in itself disruptive. However, contentless complaints about "necroposting" are disruptive and can be infracted. If a post long after the last reply is disruptive, that would be because of some other reason entirely unrelated to how long after the last reply it was made.

Incidentally, "Lizards everywhere!!!" is probably disruptive and contentless, no matter when the last post was. ;)

There's an option that will make it so that you will only get alerts when OP posts. Myself, I like the discussions.

This is relatively new as a global option, and does not exist at all as a per-thread option.

Every person I've EVER heard talking about how much they wished it was an option, wanted a per-thread option. Then SB/SV added a global option.
(Admittedly, I could just be hearing only people that think like me.)

It does exist as a per-thread option. You get asked if you want notifications from OP, anybody else or at all when you hit the "Watch" button. Unfortunately, I could not find the way to change your per-thread preference without manually unwatching the thread and then watching it again, so people who rely on being automatically subscribed to the thread they post in would have to… do that, basically.

Edit: I just checked and it seems like this only changes things for email notifications, which might not be what you were talking about.

No, it's not. There a bunch of alert settings at https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/account/preferences. Look for "OP/Thread starter replies to a watched thread" and "OP/Thread Starter replies always alerts"

That has existed since time immemorial, if the only thing you care about is email notifications. I don't want email notifications *ever*. (Actually, I do get them for PMs.)

As pointed out by @Skelm, there are new Account Preferences options to separately define per-user global policies on what "kind" of replies to a watched thread trigger alert/push notifications. "OP/Thread starter replies to a watched thread" vs. "Replies to a watched thread".
