Oglethorpe's dream: A Colony of Georgia quest

[X] Recruitment of Militia- The Colonial Government has decided that a formal militia will be established to defendGeorgia against the Spanish.

[X] Establish Courts- Georgia has no official Courts in the Colony all Trials are handled in public squares this needs to change.

[X] Spy on South Carolina- we are part of the same nation but relations between us are hostile might want to keep tabs.

[X] Talk to South Carolina- Beat to keeprelations good with our fellow Colony.

[X] reinforce Fort Fredrica- Fort Fredrica is the first and last line of defense if Fort Fredrica falls than there will be nothing to stop the Spanish from taking Savannah. So it would be advisable to reinforce the Fort so it can hold against any Spanish assault.

Militia will almost always lose out against trained soldiers, but a better fort will allow a stalemate, until we train more men or call for aid.

This seems best, as the rest are either unlikely, or costly at a time where we should be saving up for a possible war.

[X] Spy on Spanish Florida- It is best to keep tabs on enemies.

It seems much more important to be informed on our enemies actions than on our reluctant allies'.

[X] talk to Cherokee Nation- Let us make deals with the Cherokee Nation to keep them out of a potential war or bring them to our side.

I find the Cherokee more interesting, as a Native American democracy, than South Carolina, and they have more manpower. Besides, if we can mitigate the Native genocide then that obviously best. If anyone wants to tell me why choose South Carolina, please do.

Recruitment of Militia-35
This did not go well improper advertising and a slew of incompetent mistakes means that Georgia only has 100 poorly trained Milita men.

Establish courts-70
This went as well as is to be expected Georgia now has three civilian courts in Savannah, Augusta and New Inverness as well as one military court in Savannah which will handle court-martial trials.

Spy on South Carolina-72
We found out bad news a slave leader is planning a mass runaway of slaves from the plantations hoping to cross the Savannah river and get to Georgia which is free of slavery.

Talk to South Carolina-6
Also the slaves have already ran away and are heading for the Savannah river. South Carolina is furious with us for being who we are and they have said if we don't stop the runaway slaves South Carolina will send slave hunters backed up by the South Carolina militia.

uh yeah no, time for further military build up, and trying maybe to getting the slaves to help fight off the slave hunters.

*shrug* let the slave hunters come. If they can find people cool, take 'em. If they can't, sux.

I wish we could just lead them into Indian territory and leave the indians to dispose of them.

Georgia Crisis
Crisis in Georgia Colony!!!

Georgia had a problem that being that The Colony of South Carolina was sending slave hunters after fleeing Slaves and have stated they will send in the militia if need be. To be brutally honest though Georgia could not stand against South Carolina. Georgia only had 100 poorly Trained militia and only had Three towns two of which were along the Savannah river. Oglethorpe debated as an emergency session of the Trustees was called they decided.

[] Fight- South Carolina started this we will finish this.

[] Stop Slaves- stop the slaves from crashing into Georgia.

[] Appeal for Crown intervention- Appeal to the Crown to settle this.

[] Let South Carolina have there way- Let the Slave Hunters pursue the Slaves into Georgia.

[X] Appeal for Crown intervention- Appeal to the Crown to settle this.
make this a drawn out legal battle. people in this time love lawyering.

[X] Appeal for Crown intervention- Appeal to the Crown to settle this.

The crown will likely come down on the slavers side but we might aswell make them work for it.

[X]Appeal for Crown intervention- Appeal to the Crown to settle this.

Even as the conflict got closer to the border ships hastily left Charleston and Savannah each asking for a crown intervention in there favor. Both ships reached London around the same time at which point both delegates went to Whitehall Palace and presented there petitions to the crown. The King was conflicted as while he thought the practice of slavery vile English Law promised the right to not have your property taken away without just cause. Eventually the King passed the case along to the Great Britain's premier judge. The judge ruled that while South Carolina had a right to there Slaves Georgia law must be respected. The Judge therefore declared that while the Slaves were still property of there Masters and Mistress they were to be held in trust by the Georgia Courts. The judge also decreed While in the process of transferring the Slaves into South Carolina custody Georgia had the right to offer to buy the slaves freedom.

But while all this is good and well South Carolina's government said that after negotiations with the slave owners they are willing to let us buy the slaves. This caught Georgia off guard after all why would South Carolina offer to let go the very reason this whole mess started Georgia decided though to......

[] free them all- Buy the freedom of every last one of these poor souls

[] free only half- Buy the freedom of half of the runaways

[] free only 1/3rd- free only 1/3rd of the slaves that sought refuge in Georgia

[] free only 1/4th- free only 1/4th of the people seeking there freedom

[] free no one- Georgia dose not have the money to free all of these slaves

On a brighter note though this year 2,500 people have moved to Georgia this year and have settled mostly on the coast or in Savannah as they were afraid of being caught in a war zone if it came to conflict with South Carolina.

[X] free them all- Buy the freedom of every last one of these poor souls
If you don't stand by your ethics then no one else will do it for you.
