Oglethorpe's dream: A Colony of Georgia quest

Plan "We're Trying, Really"
-[X] Advisory Committee: Hold a special election to elect a new advisory committee for a three year term, so the houses re-synchronize. Prepare to hold a referendum in three years time to determine the rules on term lengths and election scheduling.
-[X] Redraft the public sanitation measures.
-[X] Have the DPH draft standards for apothecaries and contract some qualified ones to supply the clinics.
-[X] Propose strict ethics rules for elected officials and other high ranking public servants: including (but not necessarily limited to) a strict ban on self-enrichment, all gifts received must be publicly declared, ban nepotism.
-[X] Organize public fire brigades in our major towns, which for now will consist of a few professionals and some volunteers who attend paid trainings.

Swap out the ethics things for new income stream, I really don't want to loss the ship orders.

-[X] Finish and advertise the arsenal to the British and other crown approved entities. We really need more income.

I would recommend to change the wording of The Arsenal action to be: " The Congress finally sign off on the Crown's order of sloops. Work can finally begin, and perhaps other approved customers may be found."

I'd forgotten about the arsenal, though I totally think we should keep the ethics rules in mind, it will build public confidence and won't cost us anything (might even save money)
Also, idea for next turn, since we are getting into the ship building business we should take a page from the historical United States and reserve land for Southern Live Oak, which is a very tough wood that earned "Old Ironsides" it's name.

like an " Experiment with local trees to find good ship building materials," action or " Build a test ship with this material," action?

The plan were really trying modified wins.

What are our trade and diplomatic relations with our neighbors?

Based on my memory:
  • British: Friendly - Mostly loyal if quiet colony
  • Cherokee autonomous region: Quiet sort of tension- Racism and perceived bad deal.
  • Creek autonomous region: Quiet sort of tension- Racism and perceived bad deal.
  • South Carolina: Rival - Competing on various fronts.
  • USA: ???
  • France: ??? - Supplied Jamaican rebels, but they were defeated and hanged. Hope nothing comes out of it.
  • Greater world: Migrations here and there but mostly just a place in new world.

This is correct as for the others.

U.S.A: Relations are cold and all interactions between Georgia and the U.S.A go through the Marylander government in Annapolis who keep a dignitary in New York officially to maintain relations with the British Province New York. Unofficially the Marylander dignitaries job is to act as a channel of communication between the Southern Provinces and the United States.

France: Relations are cold and all interaction between the French Government and Georgia is done through the Board of Trade in London. They suspect that one of the British colonies funded the rebels but can't prove it was us.

Florida: There is tension Georgia and Florida have had good reations in the past but there is bad blood and Florida is now a Spanish Colony again.

Are we about to have a literal shitfire?
like an " Experiment with local trees to find good ship building materials," action or " Build a test ship with this material," action?
Nah, I meant literally just claiming or buying tracts of forest so they don't get clear-cut, preferably near our shipyards or by a navigable river. Shipwrights already know Southern Oak is the ideal material and with Florida back in Spanish hands Georgia has the most of it out of all the British colonies.
Also, I just found out from Georgia Encyclopedia that the University of Georgia was founded in 1785. More importantly, South Carolina has the College of Charleston and we have nothing. This is not acceptable.

Just another thing to the growing backlog. :V

We still want to rebuild that library, buli south Carolina, more people, sort out native relation, postal service, coast guard ships, and building industry.

Tho we might need to arm up in case US wants to be funny.

Elections go off without a hitch:
Elections for the Advisory Committee go ahead with no problems but this election has also brought political parties into the General Assembly as many people running under the label of Tory or Whig. Of course the two grouping were not the same as in the Britain as due to Georgia's liberal leaning political sphere. The Tories are more like the Whigs back in Britain and the Whigs would get banned for subversive activity back in Britain.

Public Sanitation:
The workers at the D.P.H get black out drunk and burn the sanitation papers in a big bonfire they had at Government Avenue in Maryburg.

Clinic System Reformed:
Medicine is now imported from experts in London and you have to be medically certified to write a prescription.

New Venice open for business:
The ships ordered by the Naval Ministry have started construction. We have also received our next request. The Province of Virginia has a smuggling problem and is wondering if we could build them a Green Water navy capable of operating in rivers and littoral zones but also being capable of operating in the Chesapeake bay. They would of course pay us for our trouble.

Bonfire Trouble at D.P.H:
The firefighters roaring drunk join in on the D.P.H's bonfire party and eventually everyone is arrested due to creating a fire hazard and being intoxicated in public. Obviously after almost starting a fire these men cant be trusted to put one out or so is the thinking of the City of New Inverness who puts the organization out of it's misery by practically abolishing their section department by refusing to give it any more money making them rely on the shoestring budget assigned by the Provincial government.
