[X] Returning from Lindon mostly empty save for a few smuggled elven goods

Eriol : "If it were absolute they would not have needed the fiction of Iluvatar as the skull moth wears the mark of eyes upon its wings to seem a greater being.

Eru Iluvatar :
I AM ABOUT TO PULL WHAT IS CALLED A PRO GAMER MOVE.
*Smites Numenor out of existence*

Not saying Eriol is going to take it like this, but the sinking of Numenor is consistent with the power demonstrated by the Valar during the War of Wrath or (if part of that was the dragons and Melkor's allies) still on about the same level.

The Valar could smite numenor but Eriol will see the world literally chnage shape and parts of it (Aman) be removed from mortal earth

Human eyes can only see so far. I do not think any human outside of the Golden Kings himself and his army would be able to see the rounding of the world with their own eyes, that said just seeing the sinking will be life-changing.

This close to the end of the prologue I cannot help but wonder what time period Eriol will head to. And if we're going to choose it or not.

nice. there are many interesting points there. Old Gods, crusades, etc.

Also, if we are playing solo wizard here... Where summoning? we definitely need that dark spirit summoning, 1 man is no army.
@DragonParadox can we gain more magic types later? or is the character already set?

Binding the dead is not something you can get past this point, it is not something that can be learned by experimentation though alchemy and enchantment might be in reach if hard and dangerous to learn.

I don't think this is supposed to be a high fantasy setting and the potential costs and risks of magic seem significant so it's unlikely we'll be using magic all the time.

Probably. One reason why I wanted to get summoning. You bind a spirit once, but use it for a long, long time. very sustainable ;)
Though, current one is also pretty good. Could use blaster magic strategically to either overcome heavy obstacles (fortress walls, enemy king) or to awe people ala - will of the gods, while using speech magic to influence audience in key points. Plus superior technology.

We're not going to be blasting down fortress walls with our current abilities but we probably can come up with some creative applications. The key will be to use our abilities strategically given the cost and risk associated with them.
