My understanding is that Nel regained her memory by being healed by Orihime. Whether she is skilled enough at healing to fix the issue is another question. But my understanding is that Nel still has all her power, her mindset has simply reverted to a childlike arrancar.
She doesn't have all her power, she wasn't able to hold her Resurrecion as long as she could before when she fought Nnoitra. Orihime probably fixed that, though.

Also, as another pointed out, her memories started coming back when she saw Nnoitra.

Wasn't that more because Ururu decided to eat a point blank Cero for Tatsuki since she calculated that she had more Armor and HP?
Yeah, the Candyshop Crew was unfairly playing favorites by giving their girl actual equipment.

Yoruichi: And we're not giving Ururu the prototype Anti-Hierro Armor just to get data from a field test, right?
Urahara: That's... not... the only reason?

as much as urahara is a sociopath, i would like to think he would want to keep the girls alive and healthy, if not for personaly attachment, then for the personal attachment of yoruichi and stash dad.

The thing about an alien mindset is that some things that's super obvious for any normal person just might not occur to them...

Also, all three of them were suffering from Nemo's reiatsu. Each bit of improvement in their combat power does not only increase that power, but also reduces the negative effects of powerful reiatsu, effectively being worth twice as much.
Though this same factor also works against them, as every boost Nemo gets to her abilities raises her reiatsu (increasing any debuff she inflicts) as well as improving her combat power. :p

I'm kinda curious about what the other options on the previous vote would have resulted in, once you get past the flowery descriptions. @Omicron, are you willing to share what your plans were? It seems rather apparent that Nemo would (inadvertently) be resembling the person each option references, but would it have the same sort of her basing it on her own views of the person and Yumichika correcting them?

Also, there is totally omake fodder in looking at Nemo's brain tumor hidden memory problem through the lens of Hegelian Dialectics. You know, the whole thesis, antithesis, synthesis thing? Nemo as she was is the thesis. The buried memories/her released self is the antithesis. Now she having the two come together in the synthesis.

I don't see Nel getting the circumstances to bring her back to fighting form.

Even in baby mode, Nel would still be an incredibly useful support utility. Why? Healing spit. With Orihime more focused on combat than in canon, a dedicated healer would be useful. If the Drifters had a way to fix her (canonically, sandal-hat made an artifact for her to do this), she'd also fix the hole in their squad composition. Even before then, she'd be willing to join the Drifters in a raid on Las Noches (outright canon!), where she can at least temporarily revert to adult mode under moments of severe distress (canonically, when Nnoitra was about to finish off a defeated Ichigo).

Actually, we totally should have recruited Nel ages ago. Given how lacking in trustworthy doctors Las Noches currently is after losing Esmerelda, Nel might have enjoyed Aizen's protection against Nnoitra finishing her off. Even this becomes unnecessary after Cirucci kills him off. In her adult personality, Nel's knight persona plays well with Cirucci's princess persona, and her fall from grace as the former Tercera could have played well as a mirror to Cirucci's loss of rank and recovery thereof. Interestingly, her Fraccions are numbers 41 and 42, making them some of the few Arrancar to have been transformed and present in Las Noches longer than Nemo. Adult Nel further fits the themes of the story by having a personality inclined to train just to gain skill -- as a weapon user in both base form and in Res, she'd see benefits even aside from standard ghost magic improvement.

That said, we never had an in-character reason to seek Nel out. Las Noches at large believes her dead rather than exiled. Ren or Spiderbro might have been able to clue us in, but Nemo wouldn't know to ask without Omicron volunteering the information somewhere in the text. And adding new characters to the story is increasingly unlikely -- the Vizards were already written out of the story due to character overload (this is definitely Kubo's fault). The time to have recruited Nel was long before we knew we'd want another Arrancar at just shy of Vasto power level who'd gladly fight Aizen for the greater good.

Ugh.

I have two Number 48 posts floating around in my head, and they're both effectively long fight scenes, which are terrible. And come on the heels of the most recent update being a long fight scene, which was good.

I need to trick someone into writing "Numero Cirucci vs. 5638 Calaveras" for me. Anyone? Bueller?

*whispers*
I've heard this Omicron guy really loves writing fighting scenes.

..Sooo uhh, I'd need to remind myself how precisely Numero Cirucci fights but if I recall she hasn't figured out Golondria's a whip and thus ends up...As I mentally see it she basically ends up fighting like she's wielding a two-hander axe, given the disc-shape and lack of whip functionality.
I think she has the inital Cirucci Res with the wing blades and tail spear though.

This actually corresponds to the Nemo vs. Ruddborne conflict, which was the first fight Nemo had after gaining Master Cero when she really cut loose.

Which means it's the time when Cirucci has raised her primary combat ability, combat arts, to Master, and lo, were onlookers surprised and alarmed by her ability to throw down and fight well outside what was believed to be her weight class, if only briefly.

Which is to say, it's the perfect time for her to be trying new tricks.

Ren, for putting up with all this craziness when we see just how happy he is building his bridge to knowledge in the Privaron!Nemo AU.
